    Chapter 742: The Demonologist’s Spell

"Well, Mr. Seso," Demisette said with a slightly nervous smile, "that veteran from Nethergarde told me you killed the demon king using Black Magic, not a fire meteor like Dalaran claims. Is that true?"

    "It was true," Jesse replied.

"So that’s why they claimed you were dead. You accomplished something great with Black Magic, but they considered it heretical and unacceptable to the Alliance…"

Demisette’s tone carried clear indignation, as if wanting to defend Jesse’s honor.

She then sighed and asked as naturally as possible, "What magic was that? Could your power really gather a Shadow Bolt strong enough to kill a Pit Lord?"

Jesse answered, "That wasn’t a Shadow Bolt. It was magic I learned from an Orc." He paused before asking, "Want to learn it?"

    "Absolutely!" Demisette’s eyes brightened.

"That’s an exceptionally powerful spell, Ms. Cloyce," Jesse stated. "Learning and casting it are both extremely difficult. Once mastered, it causes catastrophic destruction – though that goes without saying after my demonstration at Nethergarde. Your friends witnessed it firsthand."

"I know that perfectly well," Demisette said urgently. "So could you…?"

"This kind of magic…" Jesse raised an eyebrow. "…I can’t teach for free."

Demisette glanced at Molofeel beside her. The succubus maintained a peculiar smile, seemingly seeing straight through her intentions.

The female warlock swallowed. "Jesse Seso, then…"

She tugged her collar, revealing half of her pale chest. Jesse glanced down briefly. "You’ve misunderstood, lady. I already have a partner."

Demisette cleared her throat. "That changes nothing. I’d keep my mouth tightly shut."

"You’d trade your body for my master’s spell?" Molofeel propped her chin on her hand, voice dripping with scorn.

"You don’t control your master’s choices, succubus."

Demisette spoke as sternly as she could, locking eyes with the demon. Jesse saw her fear of Molofeel – the fiery eyes, the mageweave-covered body – yet her craving to learn The Hand of Gul’dan overpowered that fear.

"Of course I don’t decide for my master," Molofeel leaned against Jesse’s shoulder. "But what makes you think a night with Jesse Seso counts as ‘payment’?"

The female warlock froze completely. Jesse crossed his arms, leaning against a wooden pillar with a chuckle. "Ignore her, Ms. Demisette. That won’t work. What I want is far simpler: fifteen gold coins for the spell’s incantation."

"Fifteen gold coins?!" Demisette gasped sharply. "I’ve never even seen that much coin!"

Jesse countered, "Fifteen gold for the power to slay a demon king strikes me as a bargain. If you knew what I sacrificed to gain this spell, what foes I overcame… you wouldn’t question the price."

Molofeel shot her master a sidelong glance, faintly amused by "fifteen gold coins holding a demon king’s death," yet unable to call it a lie.

    Demisette frowned. "No other way?"

"There is," Jesse said. "Trade me a spell I don’t know. Or offset part of the cost."

"Curse of Weakness," Demisette blurted out. "Learned it in Ironforge for this demon summoning. Didn’t use it since I handled the binding circle, but it’s devastating against brutish foes."

Jesse felt a pang of disappointment. These Demonologists truly lacked mastery over Shadow Magic beyond demons.

Seeing his expression, she added, "This curse didn’t even come from Orcs, Mr. Seso. Few warlocks possess it…"

    "Anything else?" Jesse pressed bluntly.

Demisette hesitated anxiously. Jesse sensed she knew valuable spells but debated sharing them.

Finally, she offered: "A demonic enhancement spell."

"Demonic enhancement?" Jesse’s interest sparked instantly.

In the game, it temporarily empowered controlled demons, even breaking magical restraints. He genuinely wondered how Saenor or Molofeel would look enhanced.

"This spell fortifies your minion’s will, boosting their strength and speed," Demisette explained, eyeing Molofeel. "Most warlocks don’t use it in combat, but its battle potential is undeniable."

"This is Annihilan magic," Molofeel interjected. "Pit Lords ignite their potent demon blood to drive linked contract demons into battle frenzies…"

Demisette continued, "I don’t know its origin tongue, only its effectiveness – even on humans."

Jesse asked, "Other warlocks here don’t know it, Ms. Demisette? They’re all Demonologists."

"We all have unique knowledge sources, Mr. Seso," Demisette replied earnestly. "My acquisition was… unconventional. Cost me dearly…"

"But I haven’t witnessed its power," Jesse stated. "Can’t judge its worth against my spell. Remember – my magic’s potency was verified by the entire Alliance."

"True," Demisette conceded. "My home’s in Lakeshire. I’ll fetch my spellbook recording the incantation and method immediately. Verbal transmission risks errors weakening the magic over time – you understand how great spells fade through flawed repetition, Mr. Seso."

"I’ll assess its value once you teach me," Jesse decided.

"Then I leave at once…" Demisette rose. "I’ll return before Mor’zul gets back. Lakeshire wasn’t far from here."
