“Xing’er, would you like to go to the autumn hunt today?” Xie Chenyuan asked softly as he wrapped his arms around her as soon as he entered her room.

Today, Xie Chenyuan was dressed in a black straight-collar robe, with moon and white auspicious cloud pattern on belt at his waist. His black hair was tied up with a simple white jade and silver crown. He carried a rare and youthful air around him.

Autumn hunt? Xu Xinghe had never seen one before, so she nodded. “Hm.”

Xie Chenyuan let out a low laugh and traced her nose with his fingertip. “I knew you would want to go. See if you like these?”

Eunuch Li entered the room with two palace maids, carrying two sets of newly made clothes, one red and one black.

Xu Xinghe curiously went over and picked them up. They were riding outfits. The craftsmanship was so fine that even upon close inspection, no flaws could be found. It was clear that the maker had put great care into them.

Xu Xinghe looked at them back and forth. She loved them both. So which one should she wear?

“Ah Yuan, I don’t know which one to choose. They’re both so beautiful.” Xu Xinghe decided to pass the problem to Xie Chenyuan. Two beautiful clothes before her, but she could only wear one. It was too painful!

Xie Chenyuan’s expression was serious. He scanned the two clothes with his eyes, pretended to think for a moment, then said, “This black one. Beautiful.”

Xie Chenyuan wasn’t very good at lying. He chose the black one for the simple reason that it matched the color of his own riding outfit.

The red one would certainly complement her snow-white and delicate skin even better, but he was being selfish and didn’t want her beauty to be discovered by others.

Xu Xinghe didn’t notice Xie Chenyuan’s little scheme at all. She happily took the clothes and went into the changing room.

Xie Chenyuan’s despised himself a little more deeply. Xing’er trusted him so much, but he was playing tricks like this.

He shot a glare at Eunuch Li behind him. Meeting the eunuch’s confused eyes, he said as if he had found an outlet, “Out.”

Xu Xinghe gently pinched his cheek and said, “Wasn’t it Ah Yuan who said he wanted to take me to the autumn hunt? Now you want to go back on your word?”

Xie Chenyuan helplessly rescued his face from her hand. Since he had promised her, he would naturally do it.

“Good Xing’er, don’t be angry. I was just joking.” Xie Chenyuan held her hand and coaxed her in a low voice. Although he had really wanted to back out just now, there was no way he would admit that now.

“Xing’er, put this on, okay?” Xie Chenyuan was actually a little nervous when he took it out. He was worried that Xing’er would find his possessiveness too much.

He thought to himself that it would be fine even if she didn’t wear it. At worse, he would make everyone keep their heads down today. Whoever dared to lift their head and look at Xing’er would have their eyes gouged out.

Xu Xinghe took the veil. It was soft and breathable. She nodded in agreement.

Xie Chenyuan happily said he would put it on for her. His movements were as gentle as could be. Xing’er indulging him like this only made him want more and more.
