Chapter 507
by 林方方Chapter 507: I Like Confident Men
Someone actually dared to say that to her face — that she was all chest and no brains?
In that moment, Mo Bofen could hardly believe her own ears!
“How could anyone say something like that?”
She knew exactly how impressive certain parts of her figure were, but most men would just steal a glance or two and leave it at that. Who would dare say something like this out loud?
Besides, since her debut, the number of men she had ever truly taken notice of could be counted on one hand. Anyone who dared talk to her like this must have a death wish!
With the kind of influence Mo Bofen wielded, she could make whoever said those words pay dearly for running their mouth.
“My mouth is on my body, and I’ll say whatever I want.” Su Rui looked at Mo Bofen, who was on the verge of exploding, and shook his head again.
Seeing this, the great Boss Mo’s anger suddenly faded. She had a feeling that Su Rui was deliberately testing her.
“Looks like you really are a funny guy — just not a very sophisticated kind of funny.” Mo Bofen said with a cold smile.
“You’re wrong, I’m not funny at all.” Su Rui glanced at her sideways, then leaned his lips close to Mo Bofen’s ear and said, “And honestly, talking to you is a complete waste of time. That might have something to do with being all chest and no brains.”
Mo Bofen let out a rare soft laugh behind her hand.
At that moment, Li Pengcheng — still dazed from being hit over the head with a stool by Su Rui — lifted his head and saw the man and woman “whispering cheek to cheek.” His expression instantly darkened with a deep, brooding look.
He had been knocked senseless by Su Rui, and not only had Mo Bofen, his so-called “big sister,” shown zero concern, she had publicly scolded him instead. And now she was standing this close to the very person who had hurt him. It was absolutely outrageous.
“What a flirty woman,” Li Pengcheng cursed inwardly. The guy really wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed — it never even occurred to him to wonder what had made Mo Bofen change her attitude so quickly.
He stared at the two of them, furrowed his brow, and hatched a plan.
A few hours at a concert always seemed to fly by, yet the fans were nowhere near done having the time of their lives. Wherever Tang Ni Landuo pointed her finger, a wave of deafening cheers would erupt.
Standing on the stage, gazing out at the crowd below, Landuo’s eyes shimmered with a radiant glow. In this moment, she truly was a goddess in every sense of the word.
“I’d like to give a very special thank-you to a friend who is here with us tonight.” Tang Ni Landuo suddenly said.
The moment she spoke, the music came to an abrupt stop.
Backstage, Hathaway was caught off guard. That line wasn’t in the pre-arranged script! What was Landuo trying to do? Was she seizing this moment to thank Su Rui?
At those words, the entire crowd fell silent, everyone eager to find out who would be the lucky one to receive Landuo’s public thanks in front of tens of thousands of people.
Even Mo Bofen was a little stunned. Having organized so many concerts, she knew perfectly well that every artist followed the pre-set script and cues to the letter. She genuinely couldn’t figure out who Tang Ni Landuo was about to thank.
Only Su Rui, with a quiet smile, gave an almost imperceptible nod toward the stage.
“The person I want to thank is sitting right here among us. He has put in so much effort over the years to support me, and even across the vast distance of an ocean, I have always seen it. Today, I want to say to you from the bottom of my heart — thank you.”
Wow!
Hearing Tang Ni Landuo’s heartfelt words of gratitude, the atmosphere at the venue surged to a fever pitch once again!
“Oh my god, who’s that lucky person — actually getting a personal thank-you from Landuo!”
“I wish it were me. I’d gladly give up twenty years of my life!”
“Give it a rest — even if you gave up two hundred years, or two thousand, Landuo still wouldn’t give you a second glance!”
“Now I’m sure everyone is dying to know who he is, so let me reveal the answer! He is the president of the Ninghai fan club, Mr. Cao Tianping!”
Tang Ni Landuo extended one hand and pointed toward the center of the front row, right in front of the stage.
The crowd roared!
There wasn’t much jealousy in the room. Even though most people had no idea who Cao Tianping was, they still sent their loudest cheers and most heartfelt blessings his way.
“Oh! Oh!” Cao Tianping was shouting along with everyone else, buzzing with excitement as he said, “That name sounds so familiar — Cao Tianping, Cao Tianping, wonder who’s that lucky guy… holy sh*t! Cao Tianping?”
Mid-sentence, Cao Tianping let out a startled yelp, and his expression instantly froze like he was severely constipated.
He pointed a chubby finger at his own nose and said in disbelief, “Wait — is that me? I’m the president of the Ninghai fan club, aren’t I? Unless there’s someone else with the same name?”
“Who else would it be! Your IQ is literally zero right now.”
Su Rui gave Cao Tianping a smack on the back of the head. “Captain, aren’t you going to stand up and thank the audience?”
Cao Fatty already had high blood pressure to begin with, and at this moment he was nearly overwhelmed with joy. Still not quite convinced, he stammered to Su Rui, “It’s really me?”
“It’s you.” Su Rui grabbed Cao Tianping by the arm and hauled him straight to his feet, then shouted into his ear, “Didn’t I tell you I could get you up on stage for a hug with Tang Ni Landuo? Do you believe me now?”
“I believe you, I believe you!” Just being called out by name by Tang Ni Landuo was already more happiness than Cao Tianping could handle. He was so moved he was nearly in tears, and he threw his arms around Su Rui and planted a big kiss on him!
“Oh come on!”
Su Rui shoved him away and frantically wiped the slobber off his face. Every time this fatty kissed him, Su Rui felt like he wanted to die.
“Mr. Cao Tianping, please come on up.”
Tang Ni Landuo reached out her hand toward Cao Tianping once more.
Mo Bofen shot a puzzled glance at the two men beside her. She genuinely couldn’t figure it out — for Tang Ni Landuo to break from the concert’s planned program just to publicly thank someone, what kind of person would that have to be?
Just the president of some fan club in Ninghai? What did that even amount to? Landuo had fan support clubs all over the world. A nobody like Cao Tianping was hardly worth a second thought.
For Tang Ni Landuo to make such a bold move in public would set off a chain reaction that was hard to even imagine. Mo Bofen could practically guarantee this would make front-page headlines the very next day.
Cao Tianping was about to go from total obscurity to overnight fame.
And when Mo Bofen’s gaze settled on Su Rui, she felt like she was beginning to understand something.
Could it be that this young man was the reason Tang Ni Landuo had said what she said?
Perhaps sensing Mo Bofen staring at him, Su Rui turned to look at her and said, “Don’t look at me like that — I’ll think you’ve fallen for me.”
The venue was so loud that Su Rui practically had to shout it, and Li Pengcheng heard every word clearly, which only made his expression grow darker.
Mo Bofen blinked in surprise, then broke into a smile.
What an interesting young man. She had been fighting her way through the entertainment industry for so long that everyone called her Sister Fen with the utmost respect. Who had ever dared say something so brazen to her face?
Ten seconds later, the smile on Mo Bofen’s face vanished in an instant.
By now, Cao Tianping was still riding high on his excitement, while the crowd kept chanting “Go up, go up, go up!”
“Get up there — did you hear me?” Su Rui tugged on Cao Tianping’s ear.
“Hehe, how do I get up there? Do I lead with my left hand or my right foot?” Cao Tianping stood there grinning like an idiot.
“Your left hand my a**!” Su Rui had completely run out of patience, and he landed a kick square on Cao Tianping’s backside. The latter’s round, fleshy body instantly launched several meters through the air and landed on the stage with a loud thud.
At that rate, if the stage had been made of wood, it probably would have caved right in.
Cao Tianping’s spectacular entrance sent the crowd’s energy soaring even higher. He scrambled awkwardly to his feet and stood face to face with the idol who had appeared in his dreams countless times, not knowing what to do with either of his hands.
“Mr. Cao, thank you for your support all this time.”
With that, Tang Ni Landuo opened her arms, seemingly about to give Cao Tianping a warm hug.
But the moment he saw his goddess opening her arms to him, he was completely overwhelmed. His already hard-to-manage high blood pressure spiked wildly in that instant.
Under the gaze of tens of thousands of eyes, Cao Tianping’s vision went black, and he lost consciousness on the spot, toppling straight backward like a plank of wood.
Tang Ni Landuo’s arms froze in mid-air, her expression one of utter disbelief.
…………
If he could, Su Rui would have very much liked to pretend he had no idea who Cao Tianping was. This guy was an absolute embarrassment — truly impossible to watch.
Su Rui was baffled. Had this man never seen a woman in his life? How could he actually pass out in front of tens of thousands of people?
After a fierce internal struggle, Su Rui ultimately couldn’t bring himself to go up on stage and drag Cao Tianping off. Two security guards rushed up instead and, with tremendous effort, managed to haul the utterly hopeless fat lump backstage.
“You’re impressive.” Mo Bofen glanced at Su Rui, who had his face buried in his hands, and said suddenly.
“How do you know I’m impressive?” Su Rui replied with a meaningful look.
It was obvious he was hinting at something — though perhaps “flirting” would be a more accurate word for it.
“Being able to get Tang Ni Landuo to publicly stroke a fan club president’s ego at an event like this — even I, as the organizer, couldn’t pull that off. But you did.” Seemingly unfazed by Su Rui’s flirting, she smiled faintly and replied with equal meaning.
“That’s because you’re all chest and no brains.” Su Rui’s gaze was sharp as a blade, as if it could cut right through the fabric of Mo Bofen’s outfit.
She didn’t seem to care in the least. She fixed her eyes on Su Rui’s face, smiled indifferently, and said, “Some people aren’t ones you can afford to mess with — or you’ll end up paying for it.”
“Is that so?” Su Rui shook his head. “Sometimes I genuinely feel like there isn’t a woman in this world I can’t flirt with. Don’t go awakening my competitive streak.”
“I like confident men.” Mo Bofen shifted her tone.
“Too bad I’ve never had a shortage of admirers — and I certainly don’t need one more overripe peach like you falling into my lap.” Su Rui said, with a touch of sharpness.
Mo Bofen’s expression flickered slightly.
This man had quite the cutting tongue.
Still, having spent years navigating the entertainment industry, she was no stranger to holding her ground. She quickly composed herself, cast a seemingly casual glance back at Li Pengcheng, then gently leaned her head against Su Rui’s shoulder.
“I told you, I like confident men. Why won’t you believe me?”
One hand slipped around Su Rui’s waist as Mo Bofen breathed softly against him.
