Chapter 506
by 林方方Chapter 506 Up Close and Personal Chat!
Among men, whenever the topic of attractive women comes up, someone will often throw in a line like “what a waste of good looks, she should go film adult movies in Japan” — something like that. Maybe Li Pengcheng thought nothing of it, and who knows how many people around the world have said similar things behind Toni Landore’s back. After all, she was a Hollywood star famous for being “the most seductive,” so it was inevitable that people would fantasize about her.
Having chosen that kind of image and route to debut with, she was bound to face all sorts of criticism.
But talk is one thing — for Li Pengcheng to say something like that at this particular moment was genuinely inappropriate.
The reason Toni Landore was able to hold her first concert in Huaxia right here in Ninghai, with Borei as the organizer, was entirely because Mo Bofen had made it happen single-handedly! And now Li Pengcheng was saying she might as well go film AV movies — how could Mo Bofen possibly be happy hearing that?
Still, even though she wasn’t happy, she hadn’t expected Su Rui to react so explosively! He just went ahead and hit him without a second thought!
The folding chair wasn’t heavy, but swung with that kind of force, it would still cause serious injury!
And this was right at the start of the concert, in the very visible front row no less!
Wasn’t Su Rui worried about causing a scene?
Watching his movement, Boss Mo’s eyelid gave a sharp twitch!
The folding chair came crashing straight down. Li Pengcheng threw up both hands to block it, but it was completely useless! Under that force, the folding chair beneath him was smashed apart on the spot!
He landed flat on the ground, completely dazed from the impact! His shoulders and cervical spine screamed with pain as if they had cracked open!
“Ahh!”
Li Pengcheng sat on the ground, clutching his head and screaming in agony!
Mo Bofen quickly glanced around, terrified of drawing attention. After all, hitting someone in a public setting like this would absolutely make the news!
However, contrary to what Mo Bofen had feared, Su Rui’s actions didn’t cause much of a commotion. Since Toni Landore was suspended in midair on stage, the vast majority of the audience had their eyes fixed up there and hadn’t noticed the assault happening down here at all!
Su Rui’s movements had actually been fairly large, and a few people in the front rows noticed, but they all adopted a “not my problem” attitude. This was a rare chance to see Toni Landore in person — given the choice between watching a sexy star and watching two men fight, who would pick the latter?
Even with Li Pengcheng clutching his head and wailing, others might easily mistake him for a crazed fan of Toni Landore, overcome with excitement and unable to contain himself!
After delivering the blow, Su Rui couldn’t even be bothered to spare Li Pengcheng another glance. He gripped the now-bent folding chair with both hands and gave it a firm pull — the warped chair leg instantly snapped back into shape.
Mo Bofen stood beside him, nearly frozen in disbelief!
The iron chair leg had been bent from the impact — shouldn’t Li Pengcheng’s bones be broken?
Yet this young man had straightened it back to its original shape with nothing more than a casual tug.
Su Rui seemed completely unaware of Mo Bofen’s gaze. He set the restored chair back down and went right back to watching Toni Landore suspended in the air.
Hua Ling rushed over to help Li Pengcheng up off the ground where he sat clutching his head and crying out. She shot a somewhat fearful glance at Su Rui, then quickly turned to Mo Bofen and said, “Sister, he actually dared to assault Pengcheng in public — you have to stand up for him!”
Mo Bofen gave Hua Ling a cold look and said nothing, turning her face away.
That single look made Hua Ling’s heart lurch, and she immediately didn’t dare say another word. She went back to rubbing Li Pengcheng’s injuries.
With Toni Landore’s stunning entrance captivating the entire stadium, Su Rui and Mo Bofen were among the rare few who remained composed.
Sitting pressed close against a woman whose charm had not faded one bit, his arm occasionally brushing against her smooth skin, the faint scent of her perfume drifting through the air, Su Rui kept his eyes on the stage above and said, “Now do you see how badly your little brother had it coming?”
Mo Bofen had absolutely no way to respond to that.
“Sometimes, standing up for your own is fine, but it still has to be reasonable, doesn’t it?” Su Rui glanced once more at the curves of Mo Bofen’s chest — the arc was almost exaggerated, rivaling any woman he knew. She could hold her own against Xia Qing and Xue Ruyun, and Landore’s agent Heathway might not even be a match.
Mo Bofen kept her eyes fixed on Toni Landore, seemingly not hearing a word Su Rui said — yet the shifting expression in her eyes made it clear that this formidable woman’s heart was anything but calm.
The waves of sound in the stadium continued to surge higher and higher, but when Toni Landore extended one slender, elegant index finger and gently pressed it to her lips, the roaring crowd fell instantly silent!
She was like the greatest magician in the world, effortlessly commanding the emotions of everyone present.
As Toni Landore lowered her finger, the explosive opening music erupted all at once, the stage’s dazzling, multicolored lights blazed to life, and the entire stadium was bathed in a magical, fantastical glow!
Taking in the scene across the stadium, Mo Bofen allowed herself a faint look of satisfaction. She was absolutely certain she had made the right move.
Bringing Toni Landore in for a concert and signing a series of deep-cooperation letters of intent was enormously significant for Borei’s continued growth!
And that Chenhua Entertainment — thinking they could pit some scandal-made starlet like Tian Xixi, who had gone viral through a “battle video,” against Toni Landore. It was laughable beyond words. Both women played the sexy angle, but by comparison, one was a noble swan soaring through the sky, and the other was an ugly duckling desperately trying to imitate a swan and ending up looking like nothing at all!
At that thought, a contemptuous smile crossed Mo Bofen’s face.
In her view, Li Chen had a little ability — just a little — and yet he actually harbored delusions of toppling Borei. It was the most ridiculous thing imaginable.
“Feeling pretty pleased with yourself?” Su Rui turned his head and gave Mo Bofen a cool look.
She was somewhat taken aback. She had no idea how Su Rui had seen through her thoughts! Her smile may have carried a hint of smugness and contempt, but on the surface it could just as easily have been read as simple happiness and delight — was Su Rui some kind of psychologist?
“Borei has hosted countless large-scale concerts. Tonight’s is just a drop in the ocean — hardly worth mentioning.” Having her thoughts seen through and being questioned in that tone of voice left Mo Bofen feeling irritated, and she replied coldly.
“You think the concert is going well?” Su Rui continued, crossing his legs and staying relaxed, a stark contrast to the frenzied fans around him.
“From the looks of it, yes, very well.” Mo Bofen said. She had no interest in answering such a dull question.
“But what you don’t know is that this almost didn’t go well at all.” Su Rui’s eyes narrowed slightly, a cryptic smile playing on his lips. “Chenhua Entertainment and some of your own executives nearly sabotaged this concert completely.”
“What?”
At those words, Mo Bofen’s whole body gave a jolt, and her eyes filled with disbelief!
What Su Rui had just said contained two critically important pieces of information!
First, Chenhua Entertainment had already moved to sabotage the concert and had come very close to succeeding!
Second, her own executives had also nearly brought the concert down — no wonder none of them had dared to show their faces until now!
Turning Su Rui’s words over in her mind, Mo Bofen’s expression grew darker and darker!
A mole on the inside? An inside job?
“I want to know exactly what happened.” Mo Bofen said.
Since the two of them were seated in the front row and the concert venue was deafeningly loud, their conversation felt more like whispering in each other’s ears.
Hua Ling was in the row behind comforting Li Pengcheng when she suddenly noticed how close Su Rui and Mo Bofen had become, and her face immediately filled with shock and alarm!
She knew perfectly well how powerful Mo Bofen was, and she knew exactly what kind of fate awaited anyone who got on this woman’s bad side!
Sister Mo and Su Rui had been at odds just a moment ago — why did they suddenly seem so familiar with each other?
With Li Pengcheng still grimacing in pain, Hua Ling looked completely lost without anyone to lean on!
Feeling the faint warmth of the woman’s breath against his ear, Su Rui smiled. “Some things only need to be touched on lightly. Saying too much actually weakens the point. Given Ms. Mo’s intelligence, I only need to give you the opening — you should be able to figure out what to do from there.”
Mo Bofen’s expression stiffened, then she looked at Su Rui with suspicion and said, “How am I supposed to trust you? What if you’re lying to me?”
Su Rui glanced at her, then turned back toward the stage. “I have absolutely no reason to lie to you.”
The words were understated, yet somehow carried an unparalleled persuasiveness that made Mo Bofen accept them quite naturally.
“But I don’t actually know the specifics of what they did.” Mo Bofen said, still unwilling to let it go.
“It was extremely serious. If Toni Landore’s concert had been shut down, it would have been a devastating blow to her — and for Borei Entertainment, it could just as easily have knocked you off your pedestal entirely.”
“I’m worried you’re trying to stir up trouble between me and Chenhua Entertainment.” Mo Bofen still insisted on pushing back, though in truth, the young man beside her had a way of making people believe him immediately. It was a strange feeling, and Mo Bofen had already quietly set aside her doubts.
“I wouldn’t stoop to something like that.”
Su Rui gave a cold laugh.
“I think, once the concert is over, I’ll have a proper talk with Li Chen.” The fact that she could say this meant Mo Bofen had already made up her mind.
“I’m afraid that’s not going to happen.” Su Rui said, his expression blank.
“What do you mean?” Mo Bofen’s brow furrowed.
“You won’t be seeing Li Chen or Tian Xixi for the next few days.” Su Rui said with a meaningful tone.
“Can’t see Li Chen or Tian Xixi? They’re holding a concert tomorrow too, right here in Ninghai…” At that, Mo Bofen paused, then a look of sudden understanding crossed her face. “I see what you mean now!”
Su Rui gave a cold smirk and glanced at the prominent curves of her chest, let out a short hum, and said with a mocking tone, “Took you long enough. I didn’t expect the famously sharp president of Borei Entertainment to be one of those all chest, no brains types.”
