Chapter 375
by 林方方Chapter 375 Midnight Cinema
Su Rui didn’t even stop to think — given Lin Aoxue’s ice-cold temperament and iron-willed character, even if she were watching a horror film, how scared could she possibly get?
The truth was, the Lin family’s eldest daughter had a psychological maturity far beyond her years. Aside from her exceptional learning and research abilities, Lin Aoxue didn’t have much of a romantic bone in her body. Before the movie even started, her subconscious had already reminded her that none of it was real. No matter how terrifying the special effects were, Lin Aoxue would never let herself get drawn into it.
A midnight horror screening naturally didn’t attract many viewers. It wasn’t until Su Rui and Lin Aoxue had walked to their seats and settled in that they realized the entire theater had only the two of them in it.
“Just the two of us.” Su Rui “helpfully” pointed this out to Lin Aoxue, and as he spoke, his gaze drifted — intentionally or not — toward Lin Aoxue’s chest. If his eyes could turn into marbles, they probably would have rolled straight down into that deep cleavage long ago.
“Two people is fine, but you’d better behave yourself.” Lin Aoxue glanced at Su Rui’s expression — how could she not know what was going through his head? After spending so much time with this guy, even the most innocent person could see right through his not-so-innocent intentions.
Being looked at like that by Su Rui, Lin Aoxue didn’t feel the least bit angry. She actually seemed to be enjoying the feeling of this little world for two.
Thinking back now, the first time they’d met on the plane, Su Rui had harassed her relentlessly with his words, only to get nowhere in the end and earn himself a knee to the gut from Lin Aoxue. Looking back on it, one couldn’t help but marvel at how strangely life unfolds.
At that thought, the corners of Lin Aoxue’s mouth curved ever so slightly into a faint smile.
She turned to look at Su Rui’s profile, only to find that he was staring at her without so much as a blink. She quickly turned her face back.
Su Rui let out a quiet chuckle, leaning back in his seat, savoring the faint fragrance drifting to his nose. He raised an eyebrow and said, “I have a question.”
“What question?”
“If I’m counting right, between the two of us we’re only wearing seven pieces of clothing total. We’re both dressed so lightly — what if the air conditioning in here gets cranked up too high and you get cold?” Su Rui smiled pleasantly, already scheming to slip out on some excuse and crank the AC down to 18 degrees, so this little lady would have no choice but to snuggle into his arms for warmth.
Lin Aoxue looked down at herself. Adding them both together, it really was seven pieces of clothing… this shameless guy!
“Can’t we just turn the air conditioning off?” Lin Aoxue, unlike Su Rui with all his scheming, asked with complete sincerity.
“Can’t turn it off.” Su Rui said irritably.
“Then just turn the temperature up.”
“Can’t turn it up!” Su Rui was practically fuming!
“Why not?” Lin Aoxue was genuinely puzzled.
“It’s a hypothetical — do you even know what a hypothetical is? If you account for every single variable like you’re running one of your experiments, is it still a hypothetical? Is that still real life? Life can’t be all logic — emotion makes up the overwhelming majority of it!” Su Rui was utterly speechless at Lin Aoxue’s response. This girl was sometimes just so… completely devoid of any sense of romance.
“Then I’d just choose to step outside — there’s no air conditioning out there.” Lin Aoxue thought about it seriously for a moment before answering.
Thud!
Su Rui had already passed out beside her.
…………
“The movie’s about to start.”
Lin Aoxue shook Su Rui, and he dragged himself half-dead back up from his seat.
The lights had already dimmed. The movie was about to begin.
Looking out at the darkness filling the theater, Su Rui rubbed his nose, glanced sideways at Lin Aoxue, and shifted his body a little closer to her.
Just as Su Rui was settling in to enjoy the fragrance of the beauty beside him, the lights in the theater suddenly came back on!
“What’s going on?”
The sudden shift from darkness to brightness was blinding. Even Lin Aoxue raised a hand to shield her eyes.
Su Rui seemed a bit displeased as well. Having the movie interrupted before it even started was really quite rude.
At that moment, he saw one man and two women walk in through the door.
The man looked somewhat unsteady on his feet, with heavy bags under his eyes. Though his skin was fair, there was a dull, sallow quality to it — clearly this guy was running on empty, his energy probably having been thoroughly drained by women.
The two women beside him were both wearing spaghetti-strap minidresses that left almost nothing to the imagination. Each had latched onto one of his arms, pressing and grinding their chests against him with great enthusiasm.
One guy, two women!
Taking in the scene, Su Rui narrowed his eyes.
“I’ve done it in a car, in the wild, on a boat, on a plane — the one place I haven’t tried is right here in a Ninghai movie theater!”
The man looked to be in his early twenties, wearing a floral shirt with a rice-grain-thin gold chain around his neck, skinny as a rake. He let out a sly grin, flashing a mouthful of yellowed teeth: “You two take good care of me tonight, and once we’re back in the northwest, I’ll make it worth your while.”
“Thank you for your generosity, Young Master Yan. Don’t you worry — tonight I’m going to make sure you’re completely satisfied.” The woman on his right arm spoke first, shooting him a sultry, heavy-lidded glance as she did.
The other woman, not wanting to be outdone, decided to go all in — she grabbed the man’s hand and shoved it straight down the front of her camisole.
The one they called “Young Master Yan” burst out laughing, gave a firm squeeze, and declared, “Now that’s what I call knowing your place. I’m very pleased with you.”
The woman on his right wasn’t happy about being upstaged. She went even further, pulling Young Master Yan’s hand and stuffing it into her hot pants.
The three of them walked along, talking and groping, seemingly completely unaware that Su Rui and Lin Aoxue were even there.
Of course, the truth was — they genuinely hadn’t noticed. Before they’d even made it to their seats, the three of them had practically already started kissing each other.
Lin Aoxue never could have imagined that her “night of transformation” would turn out like this.
Their private world for two had been so rudely interrupted, and she was already deeply annoyed. Now, on top of that, a man had the audacity to do something this vulgar and shameless right in front of her. How could the Lin family’s eldest daughter possibly stand for it?
But just as she was about to explode, Su Rui let out two loud, deliberate coughs!
At the sound of Su Rui’s coughing, the tangled trio stopped what their hands and mouths had been doing. It was only then that they realized there were other people in the theater.
Having his fun ruined, Young Master Yan was furious. If this guy hadn’t suddenly coughed, he’d have already been ready to get down to business.
Doing something like this in a midnight movie theater — just thinking about it felt incredibly thrilling. Having his mood so thoroughly killed, Young Master Yan naturally found everything about Su Rui irritating.
The two women beside Young Master Yan had already been breathless and weak in the knees, fully in the mood. They didn’t seem to have registered Su Rui’s coughing at all, and were still trying to press their lips against Young Master Yan’s face.
“What a decline in public morals — utterly indecent.” Su Rui shook his head. “Even at night, a movie theater is still a public place. Could you please, for the love of everything, consider other people’s feelings? Carrying on like that out in the open — aren’t you worried I’ll film it and post it online?”
Young Master Yan’s eyes practically shot flames. The man across from him was dripping with sarcasm, and it made him deeply uncomfortable.
“Do you know who I am? I’m…”
He tried to keep talking, but Su Rui’s sharp tongue cut him right off.
“I don’t care who you are, and don’t look at me like you’re trying to kill me.” Su Rui said with a pleasant smile. “You’re angry, aren’t you? Honestly, so am I. I shouldn’t have coughed so early and interrupted you. I should’ve waited until you were right at the peak and then let out a shout — scared you so badly you’d have a complex for the rest of your life. Now that would’ve been satisfying.”
Su Rui said cheerfully.
Hearing Su Rui say that, Lin Aoxue found that her own irritation had completely evaporated. This man always had that kind of magic about him — the ability to make everyone around him feel at ease and in good spirits.
Lin Aoxue was absolutely not the type to go looking for trouble, but when someone came at her, she was equally not the type to back down. Especially with Su Rui right beside her — a faint sense of anticipation had quietly stirred in her heart… Was she actually looking forward to watching Su Rui stomp someone and start a fight?
They say a man has to have a bit of an edge for a woman to fall for him, and there’s actually something to that. A good girl will never fall for a straight-laced honor student type — she’ll always be more drawn to the bad boy, because bad boys know how to break through the monotony of everyday life and bring those good girls experiences of novelty and excitement they’ve never had before.
And so it was with Lin Aoxue. A perfectly well-behaved, academically gifted good girl, gradually shaped by Su Rui’s influence, had actually started wanting to watch a fight.
Hearing Su Rui’s rapid-fire mockery, Young Master Yan’s face darkened instantly. Back in the northwest, no one had ever dared to humiliate him like this. Wherever he went, people fawned over him and put him on a pedestal. The people who faced him practically bent themselves to the ground in deference. Who had ever dared to show him the kind of disrespect Su Rui was showing him now?
“Who are you people?” Young Master Yan asked in a low, cold voice.
As he said it, he gently pushed the two women beside him to the side.
The two scantily dressed women had been competing to outshine each other, each trying to win a bigger share of his favor. Being pushed aside like that, they were immediately displeased, and quickly jostled back in, once again pressing the peaks of their chests against Young Master Yan’s arms.
“We’re people here to watch a movie.” Su Rui curled his lip. “Don’t you think that question says a lot about your lack of class? If I weren’t here watching a movie, what else would I be doing — acting like you?”
Young Master Yan drew a deep breath, fixed his gaze on Su Rui, and said coldly, “Get out. This is Ninghai. I don’t want to make a scene.”
As he said it, Young Master Yan thought to himself — lucky for you this is Ninghai. If we were back in the northwest, I’d have already called a crowd to chop you into pieces right here on the spot!
“Why should I leave?” Su Rui leaned back in his seat, crossing his legs up onto the back of the seat in front of him, and said, “Fair’s fair — why don’t you leave?”
Young Master Yan struggled to contain his rage and said, “Because I’ve already booked out this entire theater.”
