Chapter 518
by fanqienovelChapter 518: Child of the Dragon
Ingman’s remark that Midi was "far from enough" was deliberately directed at Lilian.
However, this statement wasn’t meant to belittle him—it simply reflected reality.
Midi had held back this time.
The level 67 Demon Swordman possessed no extraordinary abilities. With the Black Iron Dragon Flame and Heavenly Dragon Strike, Midi could’ve swiftly defeated him.
But he chose not to.
In past sparring matches, Midi had adopted a forceful approach because the challenging factions were at best equal to Mososbury City, if not weaker.
Yet Blue Lake City clearly dominated the eastern factions, even overshadowing Mososbury City. Midi needed to tread carefully to avoid complications before the Black Dragon Conference.
Once inside the conference, he’d reveal his full strength against Blue Lake City’s members.
For now, facing the level 68 Ingman—who seemed hostile—Midi remained low-profile.
His act was so flawless even Ingman detected no deception.
Unfortunately, though Midi appeared underwhelming and Ingman’s critique was harsh, Lilian showed no intention of abandoning Midi.
Her interest stemmed more from his mysterious psychic traits than his combat prowess.
This attitude deepened Ingman’s frustration.
Tension thickened between them.
A relaxed voice suddenly cut through the silence: "At least there are no formidable opponents here. This Black Dragon Conference should be straightforward for Blue Lake City."
The speaker was Layman, a pale dark elf at peak level 67, ranked third in Blue Lake City’s team. He often mediated between Ingman and Lilian, functioning more as a strategist than a fighter.
Ingman shook his head. "Mososbury City and City of Fierce Wind are unremarkable, but don’t assume ease." His gaze hardened as he stared at the cross-domain teleportation portal’s center.
The massive magic array—spanning a square kilometer—was crowded with faction encampments. Yet its heart remained empty, untouched even by Blue Lake City.
That space belonged to the eastern temple. Though their team hadn’t arrived, none doubted their participation.
Layman blinked, processing Ingman’s words. "You… plan to challenge *that person*?"
"Correct. My true rivals are Children of the Dragon like Odin and Catherine!" Ingman’s eyes blazed with battle intent.
*Children of the Dragon.*
Both Lilian and Layman stiffened at the title.
Countless bloodlines flowed through the Shaded Realm, but none surpassed those linked to the Dark Dragon God—the Dragon’s Bloodline.
However, the "purity" of the Dragon’s Bloodline created vast differences in strength among warriors possessing it.
Take Risen, a Dragonkin with racial traits and decades of rigorous training – his Dragon’s Bloodline concentration ranked high. Yet its purity remained lacking, even falling short of Kanis’s Steel War Scorpion bloodline.
The Children of the Dragon were elite fighters of the Shaded Realm blessed by the Dark Dragon God with naturally pure Dragon’s Bloodline. Their creation reportedly tied closely to the Black Dragon monuments, existing only within great temples. No city faction could produce one regardless of resources.
Past Black Dragon Conferences had proven their might. Top rankings always went to these Children. Other Black Dragon warriors merely scrambled for leftover positions. If Black Dragon warriors represented the Shaded Realm’s finest combatants forged through endless battles, the Children stood above even those elites.
This year’s Conference featured five Children from five temples:
Catherine (eastern temple)
Ivanov (western temple)
Stefan (southern temple)
Imudissari (northern temple)
Odin (Central Temple, fifth level)
These were the shadows Ingman sought to chase.
As the level 68 expert passionately named them, Midi’s group in the Mososbury City camp discussed the same topic.
"If Ingman’s eastern region’s strongest, reaching top ten seems manageable," Midi commented.
While Ingman tested him, Midi had studied the Blue Lake City team. Ingman’s pressure felt weaker than expected for level 68, comparable to Thor. Thor’s Demon Dragon bloodline actually posed greater threat with its destructive aura and psychic resistance.
Though Lilian was strong, facing Midi – a Half-step Ruler of Psychic Energy – put her at disadvantage. Currently, only Thor and Ingman warranted caution at the eastern cross-domain teleportation portal. Assuming similar situations elsewhere, eight major opponents awaited.
By this logic, Midi could realistically aim for top ten.
The moment he said this, everyone laughed. Even loyal allies Mason, Risen and Zaknavan shook their heads.
"Ingman’s not the strongest! Lilian surpasses him!" Alexis burst out. "Foolish human! The true power hasn’t arrived!"
"The eastern temple’s forces?" Midi eyed the portal’s empty center. "The Child of the Dragon? How strong are they?"
"This generation’s Children remain unknown – temple secrets never leak," rarely talkative Thor interjected. "But last Conference, the Central Temple’s Child obliterated Blue Lake City’s captain in one strike."
One strike.
Blue Lake City’s captain.
The camp plunged into stunned silence. None doubted Thor – he’d witnessed the last Conference at Dragon Tooth Arena firsthand, and had no reason to exaggerate.
Yet emotionally, this defied comprehension. Their current greatest threat was Blue Lake City’s level 68 captain Ingman. If even he could be one-shot…
After long silence, Midi asked: "The eastern temple still uses this portal?"
"Yes, but they always come last day," Alexis snapped.
"Then we’ll see this Child’s power," Midi concluded.
Days passed. After Blue Lake City’s arrival, Lilian’s provocations sparked intense sparring among top factions. This eventually subsided, leaving only anticipation for the portal’s activation.
On the seventh day, magic density spiked dramatically within the cavern. Everyone felt surging energy rising beneath them like a magic fountain. This fifth-level magic would soon power the cross-domain teleportation portal to Dragon Tooth Arena.
Suddenly, temperatures plummeted.
A radiant glow erupted from the portal’s center.
"Portal activating?" someone shouted.
But nearby observers like Midi saw truth – not portal activation, but direct teleportation onto it.
"Extravagant…" Midi murmured, impressed despite seeing countless teleportation magic arrays. King Bacal of the Tyrant Dragon had placed his arena portal here. Now the eastern temple had superimposed their own portal atop it!
