Chapter 509
by fanqienovelChapter 509: Provocation Against the Wolfspider
The Blue Serpent Tribe was a tribe that should have already begun its decline.
Their Great Warrior Monks had been publicly executed by Alexis to establish his authority, beheaded with a single sword stroke.
Their second warrior Cuide was crushed by Midi until he hovered at death’s door, left nearly crippled.
Because of this, the resource-rich Dark Mushroom Forest between the Wolfspider and Blue Serpent tribes fell into Wolfspider’s control, while the Blue Serpent lost soldiers and gained nothing.
In the harsh Shaded Realm, such a defeat should’ve doomed the Blue Serpent Tribe to extinction within years.
Yet now, not only did the Blue Serpent survive unscathed—they dared provoke the Wolfspider?
What conspiracy lurked behind this?
Midi’s brow furrowed deeply.
As Midi watched from the Shadows, Blue Serpent warriors began encircling their Wolfspider counterparts.
"Surrender Galantis now! Our Blue Serpent Tribe claims that woman. Refuse, and we’ll slaughter every last one of you!" A Blue Serpent warrior stepped forward, voice dripping frost.
The man’s face bore hideous burns, his scalp hairless and scarred with spiderweb-like wounds. Yet the potent magic swirling within him and the sinister aura around his body commanded fear.
This was Cuide—the same Cuide Midi had left half-dead.
But now he stood revived, stronger than before. His power had surged from Level 62 small success to Level 63 peak.
Having brushed against death’s door, Cuide’s temperament had warped completely.
The once cautious elite now resembled a bloodthirsty specter, eyes glowing with savage hunger. His disfigured appearance alone struck terror.
"Cuide!" A furious shout came from the Wolfspider ranks. "You lured us with false peace talks, then attacked! Now you target Galantis? Do you think the Death Scorpion family won’t obliterate your tribe?"
Midi recognized the speaker—Hasan, leader of the Wolfspider’s lizard knights, the first dark elf he’d met four months ago in the Shaded Realm.
Cuide sneered. "The Death Scorpion? You think they care about fleas like you? Even if Midi joined them, major families can’t interfere in tribal wars! And he’s made enemies of other great houses to enter Death Scorpion!"
Hasan’s group darkened at these words.
"Remember—your own Great Warrior Alexis, bonfire gathering’s top expert, defected to Death Scorpion. His influence alone crushes that human Midi! How pathetic—waiting for Midi’s help now!"
At Cuide’s signal, Blue Serpent warriors tightened their encirclement.
"Wait!" Galantis’ voice cut through. "I’ll go… if you let them leave."
The priestess pushed through the crowd, stopping ten meters from Cuide with fearless glare.
"Wise choice." Cuide grinned. "A Mososbury City magnate demands you. Obedience is your only option."
"When Midi learns this," Galantis hissed, "he’ll destroy Blue Serpent and your shadow masters."
Cuide barked laughter. "We stole Mososbury’s Fighter Selection list—Zaknavan and Mason made it. Midi’s name? Nowhere. Likely rejected by Death Scorpion already."
Galantis froze, face whitening.
Seizing her moment of shock, Cuide’s aura flared as he lunged to grab her—
CRASH!
A crushing Dragon’s might smashed down, choking every warrior present.
Then came a voice Galantis knew better than her own heartbeat.
“Who said I was eliminated?” Midi’s figure slowly emerged from the shadows.
“What! Midi Asreks, how are you here?” Cuide froze in shock before fury and hatred flooded his eyes.
How could he not hate the man who’d crippled him?
Meanwhile, the Wolfspider warriors, including Hasan, lit up with relief.
Galantis didn’t hesitate—she sprinted forward and threw herself into Midi’s arms.
“Are you hurt? After you left for Mososbury City, rumors dried up. The shops had no news. I’ve been terrified!” Galantis gripped Midi’s shirt, red-eyed, as if he’d vanish if she loosened her hold.
“I’m fine,” Midi answered wryly, patting her head.
Though it looked like an older brother placating his sister, Galantis didn’t mind.
Their exchange clarified things for Midi.
Information gaps.
His two months in Mososbury City had been meteoric. Yet these outer tribes still lived in the past—stuck at the bonfire gathering where he’d earned Death Scorpion’s invitation while enraging their eldest son Simon.
Alexis’s betrayal had toppled the Wolfspider from their championship. Though Death Scorpion couldn’t attack them directly, Midi knew Simon would prod Mososbury’s tribes to harass them.
The obvious choice? The Blue Serpent Tribe—Wolfspider’s bitter neighbors.
Crushing them would’ve been trivial now, but Midi was leaving soon. What then? Even if Blue Serpent fell, others might rise.
Midi didn’t care about the tribe’s fate, but he did care about Galantis. Without her help, he’d never have reached this status. Since he’d stumbled into this mess, he’d rip the problem out by its roots.
“Since when does Blue Serpent dare challenge Wolfspider? Cuide—did you forget how I burned you to cinders?” Midi sneered, stepping forward.
That single step forced a hundred Blue Serpent warriors back ten paces. They felt not like they faced a man, but an ancient dragon.
“Level 64…” Cuide paled. “How? Two months…”
Midi’s true level was 65, but he’d masked his aura to 64, lest he scare off Cuide’s backers. Even this half-truth stunned the tribe.
“How’d a cripple like you heal so fast? Who helped you?” Midi demanded, locking eyes with his former rival.
Cuide’s heart lurched under that starless gaze, but he clenched his jaw—a Tribe Warrior wouldn’t cower.
“You think I’d—”
A sharp crack cut him off. Midi stood before him, having crossed the distance unseen. The slap hurled Cuide meters backward, spinning. When he crashed down, his face was mangled, teeth spilling with blood.
Impossible.
Pain barely registered—Cuide’s mind reeled. The Blue Serpent warriors gaped. A Level 64 expert couldn’t one-shot a Level 63 peak warrior barehanded!
Even the Wolfspiders froze. Since when did their Midi—a Demon Swordman—fight with slaps instead of blades?
Ignoring the stares, Midi loomed over Cuide and repeated calmly:
“Who backs the Blue Serpent Tribe?”
