Chapter 515
by fanqienovelChapter 515: The City of Fierce Wind’s Test
When these words were spoken, Midi instantly remembered.
The City of Fierce Wind was Zaknavan’s hometown, the very city he had escaped from.
Moreover, over the past five centuries, this city had been Mososbury City’s fiercest competitor.
Both were leading factions in the eastern Shaded Realm. Though their main territories didn’t share borders, their outlying enclaves clashed frequently.
Now, warriors from the City of Fierce Wind had openly provoked Mososbury City’s fighters, stirring clear resentment.
“Mills, drop the act. Zaknavan left your city long ago—he’s no concern of yours now.” A new voice cut in, its owner turning to address Thor, the "Warrior." “Thor, I lost to you three years back, but my bloodline powers have grown. Even if you use Dragon Transformation again, you might not beat me!”
“Level 67, barely achieved,” Thor sneered. “Arrogance blinds you, Hopkins.”
Hawke sidled closer to Midi, murmuring an explanation. The pieces clicked: Hopkins, captain of the City of Fierce Wind’s fighters, bore the Hurricane King’s bloodline. His crushing defeat by Thor three years prior—blamed on weak bloodline power—explained this revenge attempt. Mills, meanwhile, held old grudges against Zaknavan, but Midi saw no need to dig deeper.
Fighters from the City of Fierce Wind…
Silently activating his mind-related ability, Half-Sight Perception, Midi scanned their group. Hopkins led them at Level 67 (Small Success), weaker than Thor. Yet their second and third strongest—including Mills—were Level 66.
Mososbury City had Thor at peak-Level 67 but no Level 66 fighters, their next strongest only Level 65. On paper, Blue Lake City’s team seemed superior. Combined with Thor and Zaknavan’s history with the City of Fierce Wind, the provocation made sense.
But this wasn’t mere rivalry—it was strategic testing. Though Hopkins burned to challenge Thor, he held back. At Level 67 (Small Success) against Thor’s peak strength, defeat would expose his trump cards prematurely. Hopkins wouldn’t make that mistake.
Zaknavan, at peak-Level 64, posed no threat in Hopkins’ eyes. Death Scorpion’s Loki, peak-Level 65, was familiar and unimpressive. But Midi and Alexis—new faces unseen in prior years—drew attention.
Midi’s human features—black hair, pale skin, round ears—stood out starkly among dark elves.
“Feis, Mills,” Hopkins ordered, “test Mososbury’s newcomers.” He shot Thor a challenging look. “You won’t refuse, will you?”
“Let the youngsters spar,” said the City of Fierce Wind’s Level 68 leader, a family head.
The Death Scorpion family head and Thor exchanged knowing smiles. Both understood the game.
Midi stood at Level 65, Alexis at peak-Level 65. Feis and Mills, both Level 66, aimed to crush them through sheer level advantage.
Of course, this suppression wasn’t about victory – the outcome of sparring meant nothing. Their opponents simply wanted to exploit their level advantage to force Midi and Alexis to reveal their trump cards while keeping their own hidden.
Normally, refusing such challenges would be the sensible choice. But this time, the Death Scorpion patriarch leading the group had other ideas. Though these two challengers weren’t high-level, their brutality far exceeded expectations.
Especially Midi.
Everyone in Mososbury City knew Midi’s fearsome reputation. From Kanis (Death Scorpion’s fifth-ranked core disciple) to Dakhni, Simon, Cort and others – how many had fallen during the Crystal Dragon Fortress trials? By the trial’s end, they’d dubbed him "Core Disciple Slayer". Even the Crimson Blood Bat family, who hated Midi, had wiped out their own Water Spider Tribe after learning they’d offended him.
With such notoriety, people considered themselves lucky if Midi didn’t provoke them first. Yet here came these fools from Stormwind City, practically begging for death. If Midi taught them a lesson here, Mososbury’s morale would soar while Stormwind’s would crumble. The Death Scorpion patriarch naturally approved.
"Since they want to spar, Mososbury accepts." The patriarch smiled lightly at both men. "No objections?"
This question mainly targeted Midi. Given his status, even the patriarch showed courtesy. Stormwind’s delegates found this bizarre – since when did the notoriously domineering Death Scorpion leader become so reasonable?
"No problem," Midi nodded.
Truthfully, he disliked such displays. With "Warrior King" Thor as captain, the deputy should stay low-key. But as a human among dark elves, blending in proved impossible. Better to crush their spirits upfront.
"You’re Mills? Since you insulted Zaknavan’s friend, you’ll take your punishment." Midi pointed casually.
Mills’ face darkened. Midi stood at Level 65 (Major Achievement), lower than Alexis’ Level 65 (Peak). Mills himself was Level 66 (Major Achievement), surpassing even Feis’ Level 66 (Minor Achievement). Normally, Mills would face Alexis to avoid appearing bullying. Yet this weakling dared challenge him?
"You’ve got nerve, human!" Mills’ eyes flashed anger as he licked his lips. "In Stormwind spars, broken bones and limbs are common. Prepare yourself!"
He hoped to see fear, but met only Midi’s calm stare.
"Good to know." Midi shrugged. "Hurry up."
Enraged, Mills erupted with magic. His blade became a blur aimed at Midi’s heart – no sparring restraint here.
Midi’s eyes turned icy.
Black Iron Dragonfire cascaded like molten steel.
Dakhni nearly died to this. Simon perished instantly. Now enhanced by True Dragon Breath and Body Tempering arts, the flames struck faster. Mills stood no chance.
Like all before him, Mills vomited blood as the flames hurled him fifty meters, plowing a trench through dirt. Midi could’ve finished him with Heavenly Dragon Strike, but held back to avoid escalation.
The Stormwind delegation stared in shock. Their second-strongest warrior… defeated in one strike?
Who WAS this human?
