Chapter 962: Better Safe Than Sorry!
“It looks pretty lively over there, doesn’t it?” Su Xiaoshuai observed the distance, squinting his small eyes and feeling out the various energies.
Su Yi narrowed his eyes, paused briefly, then said, “Let’s go check it out.”
Although Su Yi had just arrived at the Chaos Realm, he was already struck by the vastness of the place. The city ahead appeared large and bustling. Even if members of the Golden Sword Sect caught up with them, being in such a crowded area would offer them an advantage when it came to escaping.
In a quiet corner, Su Yi landed softly and began heading toward the city.
Not wanting to attract attention, Su Yi pulled Su Xiaoshuai forcefully into his arms.
Su Xiaoshuai peered out from Su Yi’s embrace, looking rather helpless.
On the city’s outskirts, as the sun began to set, the twilight saw more and more people gathering.
Groups of three to five, or teams of seven or eight, made their way toward the city.
Some appeared ragged and distressed, while others were clearly injured. A few laughed and conversed, but there was a noticeable scent of blood that lingered among them.
“What’s been happening recently? So many demon beasts going berserk!”
“Not just that, but the strong cultivators from the Golden Sword Sect, Mysterious Sword Gate, Green Dark Sect, Liuhe Sect, and Seven Star Sword Sect have all gone into the mountains!”
“The Golden Sword Sect, Mysterious Sword Gate, Green Dark Sect, Liuhe Sect, Seven Star Sword Sect. Those sects went into the mountains to train their young disciples, not because of the alliance conference.”
“That’s right, they went there to train their disciples. But I’ve heard rumors of a valuable treasure appearing in the mountains, which stirred up a demon beast uprising. That’s why those strong warriors went there.”
“Is it true that a treasure has appeared?”
“Even if it has, we shouldn’t get anywhere near it. The Soul Devouring Emperor, Purple Elephant Emperor, Dragon Rhinoceros Emperor, and Xuan Turtle Emperor of the demon clans are there. I’ve heard it’s difficult for even the strongest warriors from the Golden Sword Sect, Mysterious Sword Gate, and Green Dark Sect to get close.”
“…”
Su Yi silently listened to the conversation, his face unchanged. His attention subtly shifted when he heard the names of the Mysterious Sword Gate, Golden Sword Sect, and the Soul Devouring Emperor.
“Hehe, a valuable treasure? It was left behind by the dragons, and you’ve already found it, boss. Those guys have no chance of getting it.”
Su Xiaoshuai poked his head out from Su Yi’s arms, looking quite smug. After all, it was he who had found the treasure for Su Yi.
“Keep quiet, walls have ears.”
Su Yi gently tapped Su Xiaoshuai’s head. If others found out that he had obtained the Golden Dragon Essence Blood and Golden Dragon Soul from the Five-clawed Golden Dragon, they would relentlessly pursue him and try to harm him.
“Ow, boss, that hurts!”
Su Xiaoshuai stretched out his wings and rubbed his head, looking helpless.
“Don’t speak. We’re still being chased.”
Su Yi firmly tucked Su Xiaoshuai back into his arms. If anyone recognized Su Xiaoshuai’s identity, it could be a major problem. It was better to remain cautious.
“Boom…”
“Move aside! Make way!”
Suddenly, the ground behind them shook, as if the entire world was quaking. A cacophony of shouting voices reached Su Yi’s ears.
“Argh…”
A loud, ear-piercing roar sounded, and several enormous creatures came rushing toward them at high speed.
“Bang, bang, bang…”
Some people were too panicked to react in time, getting knocked away by the strong gusts created by the large creatures. Those less affected staggered back awkwardly, while others were sent flying.
Su Yi swiftly stepped aside, gliding effortlessly. Despite the danger and urgency, he managed to dodge the stampede of demon beasts.
The mounts of the demon beasts rushed past Su Yi, causing his robes to flutter, but he remained unharmed, standing firm.
Looking up, Su Yi saw over ten demon beast mounts, each about the size of an elephant. They resembled a blend of wolves and horses, with lithe bodies, roaring like wolves, and covered in thick, armored skin.
These wolf-horse creatures were of a high rank and were typically tamed to serve as mounts.
These demon beast mounts were incredibly powerful and fast. Few creatures of similar rank could match their speed. While they were easy to train, they were considered elite mounts, not something easily obtained by ordinary people or forces.
On the backs of these mounts, two or three young figures sat. Each carried a sword nearly three feet long on their backs and exuded an air of authority. They sat proudly atop their mounts, looking down at the panicked figures below with arrogance and disdain.
“Whoosh…”
Behind several demon beasts, there were figures with ropes or vines tied around their wrists. A total of eleven people were being dragged along by the mounts. Their bodies were mangled, hair disheveled, and blood dripping from them. The sight was gruesome.
“Kid, do you want to die?!”
A loud, aggressive voice shouted from behind Su Yi, followed by a menacing aura bearing down on him.
Su Yi, momentarily distracted, quickly snapped back to reality. He dodged just in time, narrowly missing a demon beast that almost collided with his shoulder.
“Roar…”
A tiger’s deafening roar sounded, sending a gust of wind so strong it sent boulders tumbling in all directions.
Su Yi’s figure remained unfazed, standing strong.
The fierce tiger, glowing with crimson light, was slightly smaller than the wolf-horse demon beasts, but its aura was extremely fierce and menacing.
On the back of the tiger sat a young figure dressed in red, with black hair and a sword on his back. He turned his head to look at Su Yi with a handsome face, perhaps in his mid-twenties. His eyes were rebellious, and a cold smirk played on his lips. “Kid, you’re lucky this time. If you block my path again, you’ll be crushed beneath my horse’s hooves!”
With a sneer, the young man disregarded Su Yi. The fierce tiger roared and leaped, covering over ten meters in one bound, quickly reaching the group of wolf-horse demon beasts.
“Swoosh…”
Behind the tiger, another figure, bound by ropes, was dragged along the ground. The ropes occasionally jerked as the tiger leaped, causing the bound person to crash onto rocks and the ground with great force. Blood flowed from his battered body, his hair a tangled mess, his clothes torn. His frail form was barely visible.
The person bound behind the fierce tiger had a pale face, his hair soaked in blood. His eyes were half-closed from the pain, but he still managed to glance at Su Yi. His gaze hardened into one of determination and resentment as he gritted his teeth, enduring the agony.
“You insolent fool, how dare you be so arrogant!”
From Su Yi’s arms, Su Xiaoshuai couldn’t hold back anymore. He wanted to confront the arrogant young man.
“Forget it, it’s best to avoid unnecessary trouble.”
Su Yi restrained Su Xiaoshuai. They weren’t sure where they were, and there might still be Yang Baikun from the Golden Sword Sect chasing them. It was better to stay low and avoid any conflicts.
