Chapter 56: Is He Inhuman?
In just a few hours, Su Yi successfully cleared all the meridians required for the “Hundred Transformations Step”.
“The first step is done,” he declared, a gleeful expression lighting up his face as he opened his eyes.
“So quick?” The ancient voice above the deep valley muttered in disbelief.
“Time to begin cultivating,” Su Yi said, rising to his feet. Now that his meridians were cleared, he was ready to start.
The cultivation method outlined several levels within the “Hundred Transformations Step”. Achieving minor completion would enable him to compress the earth into inches, greatly boosting his speed.
A further step would allow him to become an unpredictable blur, confusing his opponent’s vision—making it difficult to discern what was real.
If he could master it to major completion, he would be able to condense Yuan Qi into wings, allowing him to soar through the skies like a roc.
As a cultivator, reaching the Yuan Spirit Realm means one could materialize Yuan Qi beneath their feet into phantom beasts and run on air.
More advanced cultivators could form apparitions of bird-like creatures and fly, but this heavily drained Yuan Qi and was difficult to sustain for long.
However, the “Hundred Transformations Step” was unique. With major completion, he could stretch out his wings and glide freely.
Performing hand seals, Su Yi controlled the Yuan Qi within him and began cultivating the “Hundred Transformations Step”. Yuan Qi surged from his feet, forming a swirling vortex.
He swayed precariously, almost losing his balance, realizing that this was more challenging than the “Wrath of the Eight Wastelands”.
This difficulty was not because the latter was inferior in rank, but because the “Wrath of the Eight Wastelands” was an offensive technique, while the “Hundred Transformations Step” focused on unpredictability, making balance elusive.
“Thud!”
“Thud!”
In his training, Su Yi repeatedly fell. His hair became disheveled, and dirt marred his face, giving him a ragged appearance.
Despite this, he persisted, getting back up each time.
Each stumble brought new bruises, and even with his resilient body, he bore the marks of countless injuries.
Yet, he pressed on. Each small advancement brought him joy.
Soon, just a few hours later, he grasped the feeling. Yuan Qi formed beneath his feet, and as he chanted the lines of the “Hundred Transformations Step”, his body shot through the valley.
While he was still far from mastering the technique of compressing the earth into inches, his speed had multiplied significantly.
As dusk approached, he did not wait for the vaporizing water, hit by the sun’s rays, to dissipate; instead, he noticed the sunlight gradually fading.
The valley’s breezes turned chilling, and the shadows along the rocky walls deepened, merging with the encroaching night, becoming silver-grey under the moonlight.
“Whoosh!”
Amidst the valley and the mountains of bones, Su Yi zipped around, his speed astounding as faint afterimages trailed behind him.
“This “Hundred Transformations Step” is impressive!”
He paused, watching the Yuan Qi beneath him dissipate. His tattered clothes fluttered momentarily before settling, the delight in his eyes unmistakable.
Su Yi was thrilled; this body technique had dramatically enhanced his speed.
In a rematch with Ji Chao, Su Yi felt confident he wouldn’t need to confront him directly; simply utilizing the “Hundred Transformations Step” would keep him at an advantage.
“First, I’ll rest, then continue my cultivation tomorrow,” he decided, feeling content after a day’s tiring practice.
Tomorrow offered more time to cultivate without rush.
In the depth of the valley, looking up revealed the sky as a thin line, illuminated by the soft moonlight that lit the night sky. Fog enveloped the valley like a silver shroud.
The boulders and walls were mostly obscured, only occasionally glinting under the moonlight as it sparkled on the white bones.
“Roar!”
Suddenly, a roar echoed its source a mystery.
“Successfully cultivating in a single day, and his spiritual energy remains strong. Is he even human?” murmured a voice, though no one could decipher the words in the night.
Dawn arrived, and Su Yi resumed meditating, continuing to practice the “Hundred Transformations Step”.
From dawn until dusk, he barely took a break, repeatedly falling due to occasional missteps.
“Mistakes are unacceptable!”
His eyes were resolute; Su Yi understood that in battle, even minor oversights could lead to catastrophic consequences.
He had no one to guide him, so Su Yi could only learn things the hard way through trying and practicing. He could only bridge the gap between those in the same generation as him who had famous masters to guide them through sheer hard work.
Another day passed, and Su Yi once again went into meditation, his mind consolidating his results from the day.
On the morning of the third day, Su Yi once again threw himself into practice. His body technique was getting faster and faster as he became more familiar with it, and he started to become a blur. Where his body passed, it only left behind a cloud of dust and traces of stones out of place.
“Watch your rhythm. You have to be calm. Circulating your Yuan Qi within your body faster and faster does not mean it is better.”
“Kid, how could you be so stupid?! The focus of the “Hundred Transformations Step” is on the transformations! If you want to become virtually nowhere, you have to concentrate on the two words ‘Hundred Transformations!’”
The ancient voice could not help shouting from time to time and seemed more anxious than Su Yi himself.
Su Yi did not reply, but in his heart, he paid attention to the areas that the mysterious person had reminded him about while he was practicing.
At first, Su Yi’s body still sent a cloud of dust into the air and shifted the sand and stones on the ground, but by the fifth day, wherever Su Yi passed, there was no cloud of dust. Sand and stones remained where they were. This was the level of becoming virtually nowhere.
It was deep into the night before Su Yi stopped practicing and meditated as he rested. After five days, he finally had some results with the “Hundred Transformations Step.”
“This kid, where did he come from?” In the still of the night, the ancient voice appeared once again in some place, thoughts filling his mind.
The next day, Su Yi wanted to continue practicing the “Hundred Transformations Step,” but unfortunately, he was unable to cultivate it to the point of being able to materialize wings.
“The “Hundred Transformations Step” is an Emperor Grade Body Technique. Strictly speaking, it is not something that an average Emperor Grade Martial Technique can compare to. Being able to cultivate just the surface of it is already not bad. But if you want to materialize wings at the Yuan Soul Realm, dream on,” the ancient voice echoed in the valley as if he had seen through Su Yi’s intentions.
Su Yi gave up. It seemed to him that this was the limit of his cultivation of the “Hundred Transformations Step.” After all, his cultivation level was still too weak.
From these few days of observation and interaction, Su Yi felt that this mysterious person, at least concerning cultivation, would not mislead him.
“Thank you, Senior.”
Su Yi clasped his hands and bowed. Anyway, he had no idea where the mysterious person was, but in his heart, he felt grateful to him.
