Chapter 32: Wang Quan De’s Thoughts
The expressions of Su Wan Er and Su Jing Ting grew grim as they rushed to Old Master Su Yun Tian’s side.
“Father, are you injured?”
Su Jing Ting’s face became solemn, filled with concern. Since childhood, he had always viewed Su Yun Tian as his biological father. Everything he had now was given to him by the old man standing before him.
“No wonder—Wang Quan De is from Sacred Mountain Sect. He is very strong. Do not worry, I am fine,” Su Yun Tian replied, shaking his head as he looked at Su Jing Ting. “Stand guard for a moment. I want to help Su Yi recover. I’m afraid the so-called ‘outstanding’ doctors in the city won’t be much help.”
“But Father, you’re already injured. If you use your Yuan Qi to help Su Yi recover, I’m afraid your injuries will worsen. Furthermore, you are preparing to make a breakthrough. If you help Su Yi now, the consequences could be dire. I think you should let me do it instead!”
Su Jing Ting knew his father was seriously injured. If Su Yun Tian used his Yuan Qi to help Su Yi, it would only aggravate the injuries.
His father’s cultivation had stagnated for a long time. If he suffered further injury, it could have disastrous effects. He might never break through to the next realm.
“You’re also injured. Moreover, I’m afraid your cultivation is still not enough. Just protect me. Wan Er, you should leave as well.” Su Yun Tian had already made his decision. Nothing was more important than his grandson.
Su Jing Ting understood his father’s personality well. Although he was unwilling in his heart, his face remained solemn, and he didn’t press the issue further.
Su Wan Er glanced at Su Yi, who was still unconscious, with deep worry. She then followed Su Jing Ting out of the room.
Once Su Jing Ting and Su Wan Er had left, the Old Master helped Su Yi sit up while crossing his legs. He placed an elixir into Su Yi’s mouth and then sat down behind him, also crossing his legs.
Whoosh.
A hand seal was formed. Su Yun Tian’s robe fluttered as Yuan Qi gushed out, and he placed his palm lightly on Su Yi’s acupoints on his back, channelling Yuan Qi into him.
“Eh?”
Su Yun Tian exclaimed softly. When the Yuan Qi entered Su Yi’s body, he realized what was so extraordinary about him.
He had checked Su Yi before. Although there had been no significant problems, Su Yi couldn’t store any Yuan Qi.
But now, Su Yun Tian could clearly feel how strong Su Yi’s physical body was. His tendons, bones, muscles, and even skin were drastically different from those of an ordinary person. His smooth, jade-like skin was stronger than anything Su Yun Tian had ever encountered—like that of a mighty beast.
What startled Su Yun Tian even more were the meridians inside Su Yi’s body. They were far wider and thicker than those of a cultivator at the same level, by an unknown number of times.
This meant the circulation and gathering of Yuan Qi in Su Yi’s body were many times stronger than a cultivator of the same cultivation level. Naturally, his offensive power would also be much stronger. This was likely one of the main reasons he could fight evenly with Ji Chao.
At that moment, Su Yun Tian could roughly confirm that Su Yi must have experienced something extraordinary in the Forest of Demons over the past three years.
In his comatose state, Su Yi felt as though his entire body was enveloped by warm currents, an indescribable sense of comfort filling him.
At the same time, a flood of information seemed to pour into his mind, overwhelming him with its sheer volume.
Night had fallen. The moon and stars glimmered brightly in contrast to the dull, dark sky.
Liu Estate,
A peaceful yard, where the experts of Sacred Mountain Sect had been resting. No one dared to approach and disturb them.
On the bed, Ji Chao sat cross-legged, his breathing faint, his face deathly pale.
The weakened Ji Chao’s right hand was wrapped in bandages, soaked with blood. It was the injury caused by Su Yi’s punch, which had nearly crushed his bone completely.
“Granduncle, that kid is very aberrant and far too strange.”
Ji Chao’s heart filled with dread as he recalled the aura of Su Yi’s final punch from earlier that day.
The aura that had erupted from Su Yi in the final moments had been sharp, tyrannical, and destructive. It had made Ji Chao’s heart tremble with fear. He had never felt such a horrifying presence before.
“Indeed, it is quite bizarre. He’s at Yuan Soul Realm First Grade. How could he fight evenly with you?” Wang Quan De responded, deep in thought.
“Granduncle, is that brat dead yet? If not, we must absolutely reject the engagement. A disciple of Sacred Mountain Sect is not someone he is worthy of.”
Ji Chao’s face, still pale, showed a cold killing intent in his eyes.
Even now, Ji Chao couldn’t fathom how someone with the talent of an “errand boy” could make him pay such a heavy price. If word of this spread back to Sacred Mountain Sect, he would become the laughing stock there.
“I know you have your eye on Liu Ruoxi, but remember, with your current position in Sacred Mountain Sect, you don’t stand much of a chance.”
Wang Quan De gave Ji Chao a pointed look. He knew what his grandnephew was thinking. After a pause, gears turned in his head, and a streak of light flashed in his eyes. He continued, “As for the engagement, naturally, that is impossible. However, at this current moment, it’s hard to say anything about it. But—”
His voice trailed off as he smiled coldly. The smile quickly disappeared, and he said, “If that kid dies, that will be the end of it. But if he’s still alive, then we’ll have to take him back to Sacred Mountain Sect.”
“Granduncle, if we bring that brat back to Sacred Mountain Sect, wouldn’t it cause even more trouble?”
Ji Chao was confused, not understanding his granduncle’s plan.
“What do you know? At that time, I’ll have my own arrangements for him. Honestly, I hope that kid doesn’t die. This is an opportunity for me, Wang Quan De. If I can improve just a little more, with my relationship to the Clan, I could easily become a Dharma Protector of the Inner Mountain!” Wang Quan De’s voice grew deep with anticipation, his eyes glinting with cold light.
The first blush of dawn arrived.
Misty fog rose between the dark blue mountain peaks. The green mountain tops appeared as if painted with the brushstrokes of a master artist.
As the red sun rose, the remaining fog, which had yet to dissipate, shrouded the mountains like a faint, ethereal blanket.
The green mountains far away were arranged in rows, like the rising waves of the ocean—towering, strong, grandiose, and beautiful.
Whoosh, whoosh!
On a mountaintop, a graceful figure stood, so beautiful that even the moon would shy away in comparison. Her lotus-like hands twisted and turned the hilt of a sword. Light reflected off the precious blade as it spun in time with her exquisite movements.
She wore fiery red clothes, and her slender, graceful body moved like a swallow in flight. The whooshing sounds of air splitting followed her every motion. The sword moved with lightning speed, its reflected light flashing, blending with the surrounding greenery and the fiery hue of her clothes, creating a scene that seemed to come straight from a fairyland.
Gradually, the precious sword in her hands sped up, swirling all the fallen petals and broken rocks around her into the air. A faint, dainty fragrance of flowers drifted on the breeze as the rocks formed a storm in the air.
At that moment, the sword in the young lady’s hands flickered like the white tongue of a snake, or like a dragon soaring into the sky—sometimes as graceful and gentle as a swallow, and at other times, as fast as lightning.
If someone had been present, they would have stood agape in awe, witnessing such an extraordinary display of skill. Even in this world, it would be as rare as a phoenix feather or the horn of a Qilin.
