Chapter 42: If I Don’t Die, I Will Step onto Sacred Mountain Sect
Su Yi struggled to get up. He cautiously looked at Wang Quan De and asked, “What on earth is it that you want?”
Su Yi was well aware that if Wang Quan De had only wanted to kill him, he would have already done so. He would have disposed of the body just like he did with the mercenary leader, throwing it off the side of a cliff and destroying all evidence. There was no need to go through all this trouble. So, Wang Quan De should have some other intentions.
Wang Quan De looked at Su Yi, slightly surprised. He spoke in a low voice, “Hand over the techniques that you’ve cultivating and all the treasures that you have on you! Maybe then I will let you live. Otherwise, you will die for sure.”
“So that’s that was what you truly wanted!”
Su Yi’s eyes flickered. So this was what it was all about. Wang Quan De had other motives.
But Su Yi knew that the mysterious sphere of light should never have been revealed. Perhaps Wang Quan De was suspicious of his cultivation technique, the “Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique.”
“What I’m cultivating is the Su Family’s ‘Purple Yuan Technique.’ You can take it if you want, but I doubt that the experts of Sacred Mountain Sect would care about it. As for treasures, I don’t have any. All I have on me are some Yuan Spirit Elixirs. If you want them, take them, but why go through all this trouble? Being filial to Dharma Protector Wang I would have given all that to you had you just asked.”
Su Yi grinned and spoke with a composed expression, leaving no clues behind.
“Rascal, you should stop acting. My patience has limits!”
Dharma Protector Wang sneered at Su Yi.
How could this brat try to fool him with such words? Back when the Yuan Testing Stone was destroyed, he had already grown suspicious. A perfectly fine Yuan Testing Stone, refined by the experts of Sacred Mountain Sect—while it might theoretically have chances of malfunctioning, it wouldn’t have been destroyed in such a manner. There had to have been something else about this brat.
Later, Su Yi had defeated Ji Chao, who was at the Yuan Soul Realm First Grade. And at the end of the battle, there was that terrifying aura that Su Yi emitted which was not something from an ordinary martial technique. Wang Quan De had concluded that there was something strange about Su Yi.
A small Su Family from a remote city—how could they have such a disciple? That martial technique was far better than Ji Chao’s King Grade martial technique. How could a small family have access to such a martial technique? The only explanation was that Su Yi had some treasure or had experienced a fortuitous encounter that led him to such a shocking martial technique.
“How would I dare to lie to Dharma Protector Wang!”
Su Yi lowered his head, feigning shock, but in his heart, he felt grim. It seemed Wang Quan De had completely locked onto him today.
“Are you going to hand it over yourself, or do I have to search you? I can assure you that there’s nothing you can hide from me. Don’t refuse a toast and end up drinking a forfeit.”
Wang Quan De coldly stared at Su Yi, a smile curling at the corner of his mouth. His expression softened, and he added, “Actually, if you honestly hand over everything, I can let you go alive. And maybe, as a sign of your honesty, I could personally take you in as my disciple. Consider it fate. In the future, no one at Sacred Mountain Sect would dare to make things difficult for you. Also, if you become my disciple, there might still be the possibility of a marriage between you and Liu Ruoxi. It will be perfectly justifiable.”
“This old fox is not lacking in his acting skill.”
Looking at Wang Quan De’s fake smile, Su Yi sneered inwardly. Even if he didn’t know how to take out the mysterious sphere of light, he understood that if he handed over the “Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique” and the sphere of light in his mind, he would only end up dyeing faster. How could Su Yi not understand this simple logic?
“If Dharma Protector Wang were to take me in as a disciple, I would be eternally grateful.”
Su Yi beamed with delight and took a few emotional steps back.
Suddenly, a look of determination flashed in Su Yi’s eyes. He clenched his teeth and jumped off the high cliff.
Whether or not he handed over the “Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique,” Su Yi knew that he was still going to die. Even if jumping off this cliff was also a path to death, but if just by chance there was a miracle, perhaps he could still survive. Moreover, rather than dying at Wang Quan De’s hands, he would rather die on his own terms.
“Rascal, you’re still too young!”
The moment Su Yi made his move, Wang Quan De’s voice was already in his ear. A formless strength crushed down on Su Yi, locking him in place.
“So you really are refusing a toast to drink a forfeit!”
A cold smile spread across Wang Quan De’s face. Like lightning, he appeared beside Su Yi, grabbed his shoulder, and chained him in place.
BOOM!
At the same time, Su Yi felt an enormous surge of Yuan Qi rushing into his body, as if it were trying to crush his meridians and internal organs, threatening to make them explode. An obscure power also rushed into his mind, probing for something.
But as soon as that wave of power entered his mind, Su Yi could feel the mysterious sphere of light within him hiding itself, making no movement.
“Eh?”
After a few breaths, Wang Quan De looked confused. He had searched Su Yi’s body and found only a jade bottle containing Yuan Spirit Elixirs. Even without opening it, he knew they were just low-grade elixirs.
This wasn’t what Wang Quan De was looking for. Not even bothering to look further, he tossed the bottle off the cliff and continued his search. However, after checking Su Yi thoroughly, all he found was a dagger.
“Brat, where did you hide the treasure?”
Wang Quan De’s expression darkened, his face growing increasingly grim. He threw Su Yi back to the ground, furious at how much time he had wasted without any reward.
“Puh!”
Su Yi spat out blood. A powerful wave of Yuan Qi reverberated inside him, causing his Qi and blood to churn. He struggled to get up. His amiable demeanour was gone, and the time for bluffing had passed. His eyes glared coldly at Wang Quan De as he said, “Good, what an excellent elder from the Sacred Mountain Sect, what an excellent Dharma Protector of Sacred Mountain Sect. Behind that amiable, kind face lies the nature of a betrayer, all for the sake of personal gain. How my horizons have expanded!”
“Brat, hand over the treasure and the martial techniques. Don’t test my patience!”
Wang Quan De coldly glared at Su Yi. This kid must be hiding something enormous.
“With your shameless and wicked actions, are you not afraid of retribution?”
Su Yi looked at Wang Quan De and asked. The so-called Sacred Mountain Sect, the so-called paradise for cultivators, now seemed nothing more than a façade. Su Yi had seen its true nature and had no more hope for it.
“Retribution? The strong prey on the weak. This is natural selection process—survival of the fittest! This has always been the law of nature. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being too naïve and too weak.”
Wang Quan De sneered. The strong prey upon the weak. This had always been the only unchanging rule in the world.
“Haha, that’s right. The strong prey on the weak; this has always been the law of nature!”
Su Yi laughed, though there was agony in his voice. When he stopped, blood stained the corner of his mouth, adding a savage edge to his expression. His cold, yet determined eyes locked onto Wang Quan De as he said, “The strong prey on the weak! Today, if I, Su Yi, don’t die, vow that there will come a day when I step onto Sacred Mountain Sect and rip you into a thousand pieces!”
