Chapter 908: Red Wind Black-Eyed Demon Monkey!
“Greetings, elders.” The crowd around bowed to the five elders.
The elders nodded, and as they came forward, their eyes immediately fell on Su Yi and Feng Qier. They raised their heads to look at the sky, waiting for something.
“Will they be here soon?”
“Sending two people every year can protect the peace of our clan.”
“…”
Murmurs rippled through the crowd, as everyone waited for the people to be sent away, hoping the clan could restore peace and safety for the year.
“Feng Qier has had a tough life too!”
“She’s been sick since she was little. She might end up hurting someone someday. At least she can do something for the clan now.”
“Don’t say that. After all, she’s just an unlucky child.”
“…”
Some whispered indifferently as they watched Feng Qier being taken away, as if it were to be expected. Others felt a twinge of sympathy but ultimately believed it was better than sending their own children to die.
Feng Qier stood on top of a giant rock, looking down at the elders and others below. She respectfully gave a bow.
Elder Feng Yue and the others couldn’t meet her gaze directly, their eyes flickering briefly. That was all. The elder from Law Hall, the gloomy old man who had secretly manipulated the draw, remained cold and indifferent as ever.
“Evil aura…”
Su Yi subtly glanced around and suddenly felt a strong, dark aura permeating from a distance. Almost simultaneously, the elders’ gazes shifted, and their eyes glowed with intent as they looked toward the horizon.
From the far reaches of the void, toward the rising sun, a blurry silhouette appeared. It soared through the sky, gliding like a dark cloud and casting a vast shadow over the mountains below.
“They’re here, the demon beasts are here!”
The crowd in the square became immediately restless, their eyes filled with fear.
“Roarrrr…”
A beast’s roar thundered through the air, shaking the clouds. A large group of fierce birds spread their wings, and other monstrous beasts leapt into the sky. Soon, they appeared above the square, their massive forms blotting out the sun.
Shadows descended, covering the view, casting a dark pall over the mountains. Powerful forces struck the ground, sending strong winds through the forest. Sand and stones flew in all directions, while the birds and beasts trembled in fear, making the people quiver in terror.
Su Yi looked up and saw a vast group of demon beasts, numbering in the hundreds. Their wings covered the sky, stretching across half the horizon. Various types of energy radiated from them, releasing an incredibly terrifying aura.
The first beast to appear was colossal. Its wingspan stretched nearly twenty yards. Its head resembled a hybrid of an eagle and a lion, with a sharp beak that emitted a chilling glow. Its body was covered in golden feathers, resembling iron armor, sharp and radiant. Its claws were like razors, and its eyes gleamed with a blood-red intensity. The aura it radiated was incredibly powerful, sending a chill down the spine of anyone who looked at it. One glance, and it felt as though the soul itself might tremble, and the body would weaken.
“The Golden Gryphon from the Demonic Void Realm.”
Su Yi shuddered as he recognized the rare and fearsome Golden Gryphon.
The Golden Gryphon was a powerful demon beast with a high bloodline, known for its fierce and swift nature. The most powerful members of the Golden Gryphon clan had bodies covered in golden, armor-like feathers, strong enough to rival Dao Tools and Dharma Tools. They were truly terrifying.
Feeling the aura of the Golden Gryphon, Su Yi estimated it to be at least at the seventh or eighth grade of the Yuan Void Realm. Even though cultivators below the Yuan Emperor Realm would struggle to defeat it, they should still be able to escape from such a beast.
Beside the Golden Gryphon was a silver giant leopard, nearly ten meters long and several meters tall. Its body shimmered with silver light, as if glowing with runes. Its fierce eyes and hooves emitted a misty aura.
Also among them was a red fierce monkey, covered in red light and radiating a scorching heat. However, its eyes were pitch black, like an endless void.
The red fierce monkey was the smallest of the group, standing at just under three meters, but its aura was as formidable as the silver giant leopard’s.
“Cloud-Stepping Silver Leopard, Red Wind Black-Eyed Demon Monkey.”
Su Yi had never encountered these two creatures before, but he was starting to piece things together.
The Cloud-Stepping Silver Leopard and the Red Wind Black-Eyed Demon Monkey were both ferocious demons of the beast race.
At this moment, the aura emanating from both the Cloud-Stepping Silver Leopard and the Red Wind Black-Eyed Demon Monkey was not much weaker than the Golden Gryphon’s.
“Roarrrr…”
As these powerful creatures descended, their roars filled the air. Their overwhelming presence sent ripples through the crowd. People around the square trembled in fear, retreating as quickly as they could.
Only the five elders and a group of powerful individuals remained, their auras quietly rising, prepared to face the terrifying beasts.
“Humph!”
The Red Wind Black-Eyed Demon Monkey and Cloud-Stepping Silver Leopard looked down at the crowd below. They snorted coldly, their eyes disdainfully regarding the group as nothing more than ants.
The Golden Gryphon observed the elders, including Elder Feng Yue, before shifting its gaze toward Su Yi and Feng Qier on the giant rock. Finally, its blood-red eyes narrowed, focusing intently on Su Yi. A voice emerged from its sharp beak:
“This kid seems a bit inadequate this year. The Yin-Yang Dark Emperor wanted a chubby little child, but this one isn’t chubby enough.”
“Sir, this child is the best we’ve selected from our tribe. Though he’s not very fair-skinned, he possesses extraordinary talent and good looks. I’m sure Lord Yang Ming will like him,” Chief Elder Law Hall immediately interjected, his eyes shadowed with a hidden chill, though his tone remained humble and respectful.
“If Lord Dark Emperor Yin-Yang Ming doesn’t like him, you’ll need to prepare yourselves for the consequences.”
The Golden Gryphon snorted coldly, spreading its massive wings and extending its sharp claws. A fierce, bloody aura filled the air. Its claws landed on Su Yi’s and Feng Qier’s shoulders, binding them with invisible force.
The Golden Gryphon seemed careful not to harm them, and after a brief moment, it flapped its wings and took off into the sky.
“Roarrrr…”
A chorus of fierce demon beasts roared in unison, spreading their wings and creating a deafening sound. A strong wind stirred up around them as they disappeared into the sky toward the rising sun.
As the group of terrifying demon beasts faded into the distance, the people around the square slowly began to return to their senses. Fear still lingered in their eyes; those demon beasts were powerful and ferocious, instilling a deep unease.
“I hope that boy can pass the test, or we’ll be in big trouble!”
“He should be able to pass. If we had known earlier, we should have found a way to make him appear more innocent.”
Some of the onlookers voiced their concerns, worried that the Golden Gryphon might find the boy insufficiently innocent. If that happened, they feared the Demon Emperor’s wrath.
“That Yin-Yang Dark Emperor, Yang Ming, is attracted to both men and women. If that happens, the boy will probably be the one who suffers.”
“It’s a pity for Feng Qier. She’s had a strange illness since childhood, and no one dares to marry her. It’s the Demon Emperor who benefits from it.”
