Chapter 907: Take You Away From Here!
Feng Pu looked at Su Yi, then glanced around and locked eyes with Feng Qier. Speaking softly but seriously, he said, “Feng Qier, you must not die. Let me take you away, okay? We’ll leave the clan and go somewhere where nobody knows us.”
“Feng Pu, why are you so foolish? What about the clan if I leave? The Demon Emperor is too powerful, and the elders can’t resist him,” Feng Qier replied, shaking her head.
“Let them find someone else—anyone else. I just can’t let you die. You must not die,” Feng Pu said firmly. He couldn’t bear the thought of Feng Qier being sent to the Demon Emperor, knowing the suffering that awaited her.
“Even if I leave, someone else will take my place, and someone else will die. Someone is destined to be chosen. I drew the lot myself, so I can’t blame others. This is my fate,” Feng Qier said, meeting Feng Pu’s gaze. Her tone was serious. “In the future, you must train hard and become a strong warrior. That way, you won’t fear the Demon Emperor, and you’ll be able to protect the entire clan.”
“Feng Qier, are you being naive? Do you think you really chose this for yourself? I just heard the news. The Elder of the Law Hall secretly tampered with your draw. Everything was arranged by the clan. They think you’re easy to sacrifice, that your illness makes you disposable, so they decided to send you to the Demon Emperor!” Feng Pu exclaimed, his voice tinged with anger.
Feng Qier looked at Feng Pu, a faint smile appearing on her lips. “You know, I have an illness. I don’t know when it might harm everyone. The elders have already said I may not live for many more years. It’s better for me to do something meaningful for the tribe now. I’ve already made up my mind. There’s no need to say anything more.”
“Feng Qier, you’re being foolish! I don’t want you to die. I’ll take you away! Why don’t you understand? Since childhood, you’ve done all the hard work for the tribe. You owe them nothing, but they’ve never treated you as one of their own. And now they’re treating you like this! Why are you still willing to sacrifice yourself?”
Feng Pu grabbed Feng Qier’s shoulders, his voice hoarse with emotion. He knew better than anyone how much she had suffered since childhood. His heart ached for her.
“If I leave with you, what will happen to the tribe? And do you really think I can still leave the tribe now?” Feng Qier asked with a faint smile. She glanced down at the ten or so tribe members standing in the square, their eyes fixed on her every move.
“I’ll take you away. I’m willing to risk my life for it. I’ll get you out of here!” Feng Pu declared, pounding his chest in determination.
“If you take me away, who will replace me? Everyone in the tribe will blame your parents, your relatives, and your sister Feng Ling. They might even send Feng Ling to replace me as the offering to the Demon Emperor. Can you bear to see Feng Ling suffer? She’s only fourteen,” Feng Qier said gently, her eyes meeting Feng Pu’s.
Feng Pu froze, his expression clouded with confusion. Her words struck him like lightning. He trembled slightly, his determination wavering.
“Feng Pu, what are you doing up there? Come down immediately!”
Outside the square, figures flickered in the darkness, swiftly approaching. Several strong warriors arrived, the air trembling with their presence.
“Feng Pu, go back. Train hard and become strong. I believe in you,” Feng Qier said, her voice calm but resolute.
“Feng Qier, I will find a way—I promise. You have to believe me,” Feng Pu said, his voice filled with determination.
He glanced at the figures below, clenched his teeth, and jumped off the giant rock.
The warriors seized Feng Pu and carried him away, disappearing into the night.
Feng Qier watched as Feng Pu’s figure disappeared from the square. Then she turned to Su Yi and said, “Did I scare you just now? I’ve had this strange illness since I was young, capable of causing the deaths of humans and animals. Many in our clan consider me unlucky. Even my parents and grandparents blamed me for their deaths. Because of this, I’ve lived in a separate courtyard my whole life. Fortunately, the illness doesn’t occur frequently. But the elders say that each time I fall ill, I come one step closer to death.”
She paused, a faint smile appearing on her face as her hair and dress swayed gently in the breeze. Continuing, she said to Su Yi, “Let’s go to the Demon Emperor’s place tomorrow. You don’t need to be afraid anymore—I’ll be with you. It’s fate that brought us together. It’s a shame I still don’t know your name.”
Su Yi concealed his aura entirely, pretending to remain under the seal. He stayed silent, unmoving, while feeling increasingly moved by Feng Qier’s words.
“I’ve never spoken to anyone this much before. I hope I’m not bothering you,” Feng Qier muttered softly. “I don’t know why I’m telling you all this. Maybe it’s because I know you’ll die anyway, so I can say anything without fear. Tomorrow, we’ll be taken to the Demon Emperor’s place. To be honest, I’m terrified. Can I stay closer to you? Since you’re not saying anything, I’ll take that as a yes.”
Feng Qier spoke to herself as she took a few steps closer to Su Yi. Sitting at his feet, her long hair swayed gently in the night breeze.
The moon shone brightly above, and Feng Qier, looking visibly exhausted, leaned lightly against Su Yi’s feet. Her eyes slowly closed as if she intended to take a brief nap.
“Big Brother, you must be close to breaking through. Please, hurry and come find me…”
At this moment, Su Yi could only pray that his elder brother, Lifetaken Yama Xi Wuqing, would reach that level soon. However, the time required to break through could vary, taking days or even months. For now, all Su Yi could do was pray.
Even though Su Yi had lifted the seal and removed the prohibitions on himself, he dared not attempt an escape. The area was filled with numerous Yuan Void Realm experts, and the location itself was incredibly secretive. Escaping would not be an easy task, and any reckless move could spell disaster.
Time passed slowly, and Su Yi remained motionless. The dozen or so people in the square kept their eyes fixed on him, leaving no opportunity for him to act.
As the full moon dipped below the horizon, a faint golden light shimmered in the ink-blue night sky, forming a slender parabola among the clouds.
In the eastern mountain range, the crimson sun rose steadily, its light spreading across the clouds and illuminating the landscape. The dawn painted a vibrant and colorful scene, awakening the entire mountain range. Spiritual birds soared through the skies, beasts roamed the forests, and the crisp songs of birds filled the air. Morning dew dripped from leaves, glistening in the glow of the rising sun.
Feng Qier stirred awake, her long eyelashes fluttering. She slowly opened her large, beautiful eyes, which now carried a mixture of seriousness, nervousness, fear, and unease.
“Si si lai lai…”
Around the square, more figures began to appear—men and women, young and old alike.
Among them were many strong individuals, including familiar faces such as Feng Gu and Fourth Aunt.
The crowd gathered silently around the square, their gazes fixed as though waiting for something significant.
Moments later, a figure soared into the air, and five individuals landed gracefully in front of the crowd.
An immense, invisible aura permeated the air. These were the five powerful Yuan Void Realm experts—the elders. Among them were Elder Feng Yue and the Elder of the Law Hall, exuding an overwhelming presence that silenced the square.
