Chapter 903: Night Talk
The woman looked at Su Yi as if she had much to say but quietly remarked, “Unfortunately, my parents are no longer here, and my grandparents have also passed away. I was very young back then and never knew what it felt like to be cared for by loved ones. You, at least, have someone who worries about you. That’s a little better than me…”
She paused slightly, then shook her head and continued, “No, if my parents were still here and I were in your place, I wouldn’t want them to worry about me at a time like this.”
As she spoke, her gaze fell, and a hint of melancholy and resignation surfaced in her eyes.
“So, this woman’s background is so tragic, yet her heart remains kind.”
Su Yi held his breath, restraining his aura as he silently listened to her. A faint, bitter smile touched his lips. He didn’t even know where his parents were at this moment, but his grandfather, Old Sir Su Yuntian, would surely be worried if he knew Su Yi was in danger.
Thinking of his grandfather, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel anxious. At the Saint Martial Assembly, he had killed so many people from Sacred Mountain, utterly enraging them. After his escape, he feared that Sacred Mountain’s people wouldn’t spare his family and would retaliate against the Su family in Man City. All he could do now was hope his secret arrangements would succeed; otherwise, the consequences for his family would be unimaginable.
“Do you have something to say?”
Noticing the change in Su Yi’s expression, the woman seemed surprised but didn’t suspect anything. She looked at him and asked, “Unfortunately, I can’t break the seal on your body. I don’t know what you want to say. Do you have any last words you’d like to share?”
Su Yi’s gaze flickered, but he forced himself to remain calm, careful not to betray his thoughts. All he could hope for was that the woman would leave soon so he could find a way to escape and plan his next move.
“It seems there’s no point in asking since you can’t speak. If there’s something you want to do or a dream you haven’t fulfilled, I could try to help you.”
She paused again and sighed, a bitter smile tugging at her lips. “Though, even if I knew what you wanted, I wouldn’t be able to help. I have so many things I wish to do myself, but I can’t accomplish any of them. I’ve always wanted to go out and see the world, but even something as simple as that has been impossible for me. Since I was a child, only Fourth Aunt has been kind to me. As for the others in my clan… I don’t know what to say about them, but they are still my family. Without them, I wouldn’t have survived.
“And then there’s Feng Pu. He’s always been so good to me. Every time there was something delicious, he would secretly save some for me. He’s like a real older brother. I’ve always thought of him as one.”
“This silly woman,” Su Yi thought to himself. “Maybe Feng Pu likes you.”
Listening to her, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel that she was kind and innocent, which significantly improved his impression of her.
“By the way,” she said, “they’re planning to hand you over to the Demon Emperor tomorrow. According to Feng Pu, the Demon Emperor has a preference for men with fair skin. It’s strange, but they never told me why. I heard that everyone sent to him ends up dead. Be careful tomorrow. Unfortunately, I’m too weak. If I were stronger, I’d kill the Demon Emperor myself so no one would have to die at his hands again.”
Her eyes filled with both regret and determination. She seemed to dream of becoming a legendary figure who could one day defeat the Demon Emperor, freeing her tribe from his reign of terror.
“I don’t know your name,” she said softly, “but tomorrow, I’ll make a grave for you with your clothes, after they’re washed.”
Gently, she brushed aside the strands of hair on Su Yi’s temple and added, “I don’t know why I’m talking so much to you. I’ve never spoken this much, not even to Feng Pu.”
With those words, the woman stood up, gave one last glance at Su Yi, and turned to leave.
“Finally gone.”
Su Yi let out a breath, relieved that the woman was finally leaving.
“By the way, I don’t know your name, but you can remember mine. I’m called Feng Qier.” With those words, Feng Qier pushed open the door and left.
“Qier, are you…?”
At that moment, a voice came from the distance.
“Who’s coming now?”
Upon hearing that voice, Su Yi immediately felt a sense of dread.
“Fourth Aunt, I’m here.”
Outside the door, Feng Qier’s voice sounded slightly anxious and worried for no apparent reason.
“You silly girl, why did you come here in the middle of the night? Hurry! Something has happened. Everyone needs to gather in the courtyard. Did that boy clean up? Bring him with you.”
The familiar voice sounded urgent and grew closer to the door.
“Fourth Aunt, he’s cleaned up. What’s going on that everyone has to gather so late? Has the Demon Emperor arrived early?”
Feng Qier asked, observing Fourth Aunt’s anxious and serious expression, sensing an uneasy tension in the air.
“No, it’s something major. Everyone must gather in the courtyard. You’ll find out when you get there.”
The familiar voice drew nearer and nearer until Su Yi finally saw the middle-aged woman he recognized.
“Hmm, although not very fair-skinned, this boy is quite handsome.”
The middle-aged woman glanced at Su Yi, who had just been cleaned up and groomed, and offered a sincere compliment.
But her words didn’t change Su Yi’s predicament. In no time, the woman picked him up, holding him firmly in her hand.
Su Yi wanted to break free, but it was impossible in this situation. The area was filled with many strong individuals, and he had no chance to escape. He could only wait for an opportunity to act.
Holding his breath and suppressing his presence entirely, Su Yi pretended to still be sealed and restrained. He was carried by the middle-aged woman through a maze of corridors and alleys. After some time, they arrived at a brightly lit courtyard, illuminated as if it were daytime.
The spacious courtyard was crowded with six or seven hundred figures. The dazzling lights and noisy chatter created an intense atmosphere.
“How did this happen?!”
“What can we do now? It’s already too late to find someone!”
“Even if we could find someone young, finding a virgin won’t be easy!”
“Yes, how could this happen?”
The voices overlapped as Su Yi, still being carried by the middle-aged woman, entered the courtyard. From a distance, he could hear the heated discussions, as though something significant had occurred.
As soon as the middle-aged woman carrying Su Yi entered, the commotion in the courtyard abruptly ceased. Figures flickered, and the noisy discussions came to an abrupt halt. All eyes turned to Su Yi in *unison.
