Chapter 898: Skin Not White Enough!
The Dark Golden Demon Falcon and the Wolf-headed Demon Bat weren’t left out, both drooling with anticipation.
A large pot of snake soup was devoured by the three men and two beasts.
“So full!”
After a brief moment, Su Yi let out a contented burp, smiled with satisfaction, picked his teeth with a small twig, and noticed that the sun had already set.
He settled into a cross-legged position on the ground, performed hand seals, began his breathing exercises, and absorbed the energy from the beast meat.
This place was quite safe, and Su Yi felt at ease. He had recovered a good amount, and his elder brother Xi Wuqing wasn’t as weak as before.
As long as they didn’t encounter an extremely powerful opponent, they felt relatively secure for now.
Xi Wuqing, equally satisfied from the greasy meal, didn’t mind the food. He sat nearby, meditating and focusing on his breath.
Huang Jian, seeing their practice, understood the benefits of the Eight-winged Black Python’s flesh, a Demonic True Realm beast.
Noticing Su Yi and Xi Wuqing practicing their breathing, he decided to join them for some rest and recuperation.
The Dark Golden Demon Falcon had suffered injuries and had begun healing.
Meanwhile, the Wolf-headed Demon Bat hopped to a high perch, vanishing into the cliffs. Its eyes gleamed with bloodlust, vigilantly guarding their surroundings as Su Yi’s Dharma Protector.
Time passed, and the sky slowly darkened.
The moonlight bathed everything in a silver glow, casting shimmering patterns and long shadows.
Su Yi, Xi Wuqing, Huang Jian, and the Dark Golden Demon Falcon all radiated their own auras, with energy rippling around them.
In the moonlight, the Wolf-headed Demon Bat’s blood-red eyes gleamed even more ominously as it stood motionless, scanning the surroundings.
“Roarrrr…”
Aside from the wind’s howl and distant animal roars, silence filled the air, occasionally broken by a soft breeze rustling through the trees.
“Hoo!”
At some point, Su Yi relaxed his hand seals, and the faint red glow around him faded.
Scarlet qi energy, resembling snakes, flowed into his body as he exhaled deeply, opening his eyes with a glint of red light.
Su Yi turned to look at his older brother Xi Wuqing, who was radiating a brilliant light.
The very energy of heaven and earth seemed to gather around him, creating ripples that slowly converged.
“Big Brother is about to break through!”
Feeling the change in Xi Wuqing’s aura, Su Yi’s heart filled with joy.
It seemed his elder brother’s injuries hadn’t fully healed, but the shift in his aura was a clear sign of a breakthrough. It was truly rare.
Su Yi guessed that Big Brother had consumed a large amount of Spiritual Essence inside the mysterious space, which may have delayed the full recovery of his injuries, yet he was still about to break through.
Regardless, this was a positive development.
When Xi Wuqing successfully broke through, he would become even stronger.
“Hiss…”
Suddenly, the Wolf-headed Demon Bat’s blood-red eyes emitted a sinister glow from the cliff.
It seemed to have sensed something, and a malevolent aura began to emanate from its body.
Simultaneously, Su Yi’s expression grew serious. He focused his mind and sensed a spiritual fluctuation, attempting to probe it further.
“Wolfbat, as the Dharma Protector of this place, do not act rashly. I’ll be right back.”
With a whisper, Su Yi swiftly dashed forward.
Su Yi could sense someone approaching. His elder brother Xi Wuqing was in the middle of a breakthrough, and disturbing him could undo all the hard work, even causing him to lose control.
Huang Jian and the Dark Golden Demon Falcon were both healing, taking care not to disturb Xi Wuqing.
Su Yi decided to investigate. From his soul probing, it didn’t seem like many people were coming, and their cultivation didn’t appear to be very strong.
In the dark, moonlight filtered through the dense forest, creating patches of light and shadow.
Tall trees towered like umbrellas, with thick bushes rising several meters high.
This mountain range was rarely visited by humans, sparsely populated, but signs of large demon beasts were evident, with trails marked by their enormous footprints.
“It’s that time of year again. How infuriating! If we had enough strength, how could we put up with this humiliation?”
“There’s no choice. The clan’s elders can’t fight back. We can only follow their orders, or our entire clan will be destroyed.”
“Enough complaining. Let’s find someone soon. Thankfully, we still have some tricks up our sleeves. If we find the right person, we can hide for another year.”
In the dense underbrush, several figures moved. Under the dappled moonlight, they appeared to be middle-aged men, their cultivation reaching the Yuan True Realm.
Up in a tall tree, Su Yi concealed his presence and observed the men below.
He held his breath, remaining still.
It appeared that they were simply passing through, so Su Yi didn’t give them much thought.
“Hiss, hiss…”
Suddenly, the sharp smell of blood filled the air.
A violent presence surged from behind, and a large mouth filled with blood lunged toward Su Yi.
A demon beast had taken advantage of Su Yi’s concealed presence and was now attacking swiftly.
“Evil creature!”
Reacting quickly, Su Yi shouted in anger.
His energy flared up instantly, and he dropped to the ground in a messy tumble, but this strategy proved effective.
As his body hit the ground, Su Yi immediately sprang back to his feet.
“Hiss, hiss…”
The air filled with a strong, metallic smell as a dim light illuminated everything.
A pair of menacing eyes gleamed in the darkness.
A massive green python slithered forward, its enormous mouth full of sharp, bloodstained teeth, lunging at Su Yi again.
“You wicked creature! Prepare to perish!”
Su Yi’s expression hardened.
He quickly moved aside, dodging the python’s open jaws. With a strange and mysterious motion, he reappeared beside the python.
He raised his arm, unleashing a surge of energy. Tightening his fist, he delivered a powerful punch.
“Boom!”
Su Yi’s punch struck the python’s weak spot. The impact caused a violent explosion, and the area where Su Yi’s fist met the python became a bloody mess.
The several-meter-long snake was sent flying, spewing blood from its mouth. Its eyes were wide with terror, and it collapsed dead.
Su Yi sighed in relief.
Thankfully, this beast was only at the Demonic Spirit Realm. If it had been stronger, he would’ve been in serious trouble.
He knew he had to stay vigilant at all times.
“Woosh, woosh, woosh…”
At that moment, a number of eyes focused on Su Yi.
Feeling the gaze, Su Yi looked up and saw the five middle-aged men from earlier, whom he had forgotten about.
“Hmm, a dutiful child, seems young!”
“Looks young, but lacks fairness.”
“Should be fine, maybe if he cleans up, he’ll look fairer. In these wild mountains, even people are dark!”
