Chapter 883: Farewell, My Fate!
Upon hearing Su Yi’s composed and assured reply, Ji Tianfu couldn’t help but take a deeper look. He asked, “May I know which sect or school you hail from, young friend?”
“I don’t belong to any sect or school. I’m merely a wandering cultivator, traversing the world.”
Su Yi responded calmly, unaffected by the imposing presence emanating from Ji Tianfu. Having encountered many formidable figures throughout his journey, he was no stranger to power. Thus, Ji Tianfu’s aura held little sway over him.
“Haha, young hero, you are remarkable. With time, you will soar like a dragon.”
Ji Tianfu chuckled, refraining from further inquiries. Instead, he presented Su Yi with a small bag. “I may never fully repay you for saving my life, but please accept these pills and herbs as a token of my gratitude. I hope you will not decline.”
Su Yi looked at Ji Tianfu, the revered leader of the Mysterious Sword Gate. He surmised that Ji Tianfu, for his daughter’s sake, would undoubtedly make a significant gesture. This was a rare opportunity to gain something valuable, especially after narrowly escaping death.
“Please accept it. I truly appreciate your help this time.”
Ji Hanluo softly urged Su Yi. She knew that if not for him, she would have once again fallen into the clutches of the Sea Dragon Gang.
“Sect Leader Ji, you are too generous. I did very little. Had you not arrived in time, I might not even be standing here. I ask for no reward. However, if Sect Leader Ji is willing, could you grant me passage to the shore? That would suffice.”
Su Yi politely declined the offered bag.
The contents were undoubtedly precious, but Su Yi knew that regardless of their value, they came with a price.
While Su Yi was pragmatic, never overlooking benefits, he recognized that in this unfamiliar Chaos Realm, those pills and elixirs would be of limited use to him.
However, if he could have the leader of the Mysterious Sword Gate owe him a small favor, it might prove invaluable in the future.
Ji Hanluo was momentarily surprised, a flicker of emotion passing through her beautiful eyes.
Ji Tianfu, his gaze deep and contemplative, felt an inner stir. A young man such as this, showing no desire for immediate gain, was certainly no ordinary individual.
From Su Yi’s expression, Ji Tianfu could tell—there was not even a trace of greed.
This boy was not tempted by wealth, nor by the elixirs in the bag.
Facing Ji Tianfu, Su Yi remained composed, unwavering. How could such a youth be simple?
“Haha, very well, young friend. The shore is not far. It is only right that we escort you a little further. No trouble at all.”
Ji Tianfu laughed lightly, not pressing the issue further. He masked any lingering thoughts behind a genial expression.
With that, Ji Tianfu led Su Yi and Ji Hanluo across the sea, powerful gusts of wind surging on either side.
Gradually, ships came into view below, their numbers increasing. Before long, a massive harbor materialized in the distance, land stretching toward the horizon.
In a secluded mountain range, far from the bustling world, three figures descended. They were none other than Ji Tianfu, Ji Hanluo, and Su Yi.
Su Yi took in his surroundings as they reached the shore. Ahead lay an expanse of rolling mountains.
“Young friend Su Yi, not far from here is a branch of my Mysterious Sword Gate. You are injured. If you don’t mind, you may rest and heal there. It would be my honor to host you.”
Ji Tianfu spoke, noting the extent of Su Yi’s injuries.
“I appreciate your kindness, Sect Leader Ji, but I am used to traveling alone. Thank you, but I must take my leave.”
Su Yi expressed his gratitude before bidding farewell. While he had respect for the Mysterious Sword Gate, he preferred not to seek treatment there. With that, he turned and departed.
“Wait…”
Ji Hanluo, seeing Su Yi about to leave, instinctively called out. Then, realizing her own impulsiveness, she quickly steadied herself and asked, “Where will you go?”
“I do not know. Farewell, Miss Hanluo. If fate wills it, we shall meet again.”
Su Yi paused briefly, turning back toward Ji Hanluo. He held a favorable impression of her and sensed her lingering sorrow over the loss of her maid.
Regrettably, he had been powerless to save the maid. The thought weighed on him.
A servant willing to sacrifice herself for her mistress—such loyalty deserved a better fate. Yet, he had been unable to change the outcome.
“I see…” Ji Hanluo murmured, a subtle sadness flickering in her gaze, though she concealed it well.
Ji Tianfu observed the moment, his face betraying no emotion. He then handed an object to Su Yi. “Su Yi, my young friend, this is the token of my Mysterious Sword Gate. Should you ever find yourself in dire need, as long as it is within my power, I will not refuse to help.”
Su Yi accepted the item—a sword-shaped token, about half a yard long. He offered a slight smile, bowed in thanks, and disappeared into the mountains.
Ji Hanluo watched his retreating figure, a strange emotion welling up within her.
This young man had left an imprint on her heart, one she could not easily comprehend.
“Su Yi is no ordinary person. He is one of the rare few who has caught my daughter’s attention.”
Ji Tianfu remarked with a knowing smile, glancing at his beloved daughter.
Ji Hanluo, regaining her composure, felt warmth rise to her cheeks before quickly masking it. Speaking with sudden seriousness, she said, “Father, this attack by the Sea Dragon Gang at the Divine Dragon Sea Area—it was no coincidence. Someone is targeting our Mysterious Sword Gate. Few knew of my departure. There must be spies within our ranks.”
A sharp glint flickered in Ji Tianfu’s eyes as he responded, “I have already pieced things together. The Sea Dragon Gang is being manipulated by the Green Dark Sect. Their patience has run thin, and they have begun their move. It is troubling that they managed to elude our surveillance and launch such a covert strike. They sought to use you to threaten me. It was a close call, but thankfully, no true harm befell you. Otherwise, I would have lived in regret. Now, it is time for the Green Dark Sect to pay the price. We must return immediately!”
…
With energy surging beneath his feet, Su Yi ventured deep into the vast mountains.
His injuries had not fully healed, and after multiple battles and narrow escapes, he found himself in a precarious state. He needed time to recover and restore his inner strength.
The sprawling mountain range was desolate, but with his experience, he was confident he could find a safe and secluded place to recuperate.
