Chapter 88: The Strong Rules and When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do
Currently, Su Yi did not want to attack this Green Jade Python, but he was quite interested in the White Jade Fungi. If he were to find the White Jade Fungi and nurture it within his mysterious space, its value might rise even higher.
“Sss…”
The Green Jade Python continued staring at Su Yi with a ferocious gaze.
“Bring me to find the White Jade Fungi!”
Su Yi said. He knew that this Green Jade Python had a certain level of intelligence, enough to understand his words.
“Swoosh!”
But as Su Yi finished speaking, bloodlust crossed the python’s eyes. Its body, which was coiled around the towering tree, lashed out like lightning toward Su Yi. The python gave off a cold and intimidating aura as it opened its hideous jaw, attempting to swallow Su Yi whole in a single gulp.
“Boom!”
At that moment, a tyrannical and destructive aura burst out from within Su Yi, causing his tattered clothes to flutter with the movement of the energy.
The Green Jade Python, which had struck like lightning, retreated promptly back to the tree in the blink of an eye. Its once ferocious eyes now brimmed with shock and fear as it felt Su Yi’s aura, trembling as it looked upon him in confusion.
“Sss…”
Looking at Su Yi, the python’s body, which was more than a dozen meters long, slowly slithered down and laid on the ground before him as if prostrating itself before an emperor.
“Bring me to find the White Jade Fungi!” Su Yi repeated as the aura from the “Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique” gradually flowed off his body like a coat.
“Sss…”
The python nodded, its eyes no longer filled with hostility, and signaled Su Yi to follow.
Not far from where Su Yi stood, there was a massive tree that would require more than ten people to encircle with their arms. A crack covered by green vines marked its trunk. The python slithered into this opening.
Su Yi raised his head. The tree was so tall it stretched into the clouds, its branches spread so wide they seemed to cover half the sky.
Within the crack was a space larger than some small caves. Su Yi marveled at this sight. Though the tree’s leaves were dense and green, brimming with life, this giant hollow space existed within—truly a marvel of nature.
In a crack on the ground grew a handful of fungi, pure white like jade and decorated with vein-like markings. They gave off a medicinal fragrance that filled the entire “cave” with a comforting and pleasant aroma.
“White Jade Fungi!”
Su Yi beamed with happiness. These were the highly valued White Jade Fungi, crucial for making medicines and elixirs.
What shocked Su Yi was that there wasn’t just one White Jade Fungus, but a whole cluster of nine stalks, varying in size from as large as a palm to as small as a baby’s fist.
White Jade Fungi existed symbiotically with Green Jade Pythons. Rumors said that the pythons needed to consume these fungi to bear their next generation of offspring.
“Even if you have so many, they aren’t much use to you. I will just take half.”
Su Yi told the python. After all, the White Jade Fungi belonged to the Green Jade Python, and one must not cross certain lines—half would be enough for him.
Su Yi bent down and carefully picked five stalks of White Jade Fungi. He needed them in perfect condition to transplant them into his mysterious space.
Afterward, Su Yi stood up satisfied. This could be considered a windfall.
“Someone is here.”
Suddenly, Su Yi frowned. With his heightened senses, he detected approaching presences. Even in the Forest of Demons, Su Yi had never once let his guard down.
Outside the mouth of the “cave,” three figures appeared and blocked the entrance.
They were men dressed in tight clothes, appearing to be around thirty years old.
Their faces were slightly tanned and weathered, showing signs of year-round exposure to sun and wind, which only added to their savage appearance.
The man standing in the center looked older, with a lean figure and wielding a large saber decorated with several sharp white beast teeth.
He stepped forward and looked at the vine-covered crack, his eyes glittering as the corners of his mouth curved upward. “The nest of this beast was not easy to find at all, but it is quite dumb. In the end, it led us straight to its nest by itself,” he said to the two men beside him.
As soon as he finished speaking, Su Yi walked out from behind the vines.
“Eh?”
Seeing Su Yi’s sudden appearance, the three men’s expressions changed dramatically.
But once they noticed his rugged look and young age, their eyes showed no hint of concern.
The saber-wielding man’s gaze swept across the five stalks of White Jade Fungi in Su Yi’s hand. Greed filled his eyes as he licked his lips. “I didn’t think someone else would actually beat us to it. Brat, we purposely let the Green Jade Python go to find its nest. Hand over the White Jade Fungi and everything you have, then you can be on your way!”
Su Yi looked at the three men, sensing their auras. His face darkened slightly.
Now he understood why the Green Jade Python had been injured—these three had attacked it and let it escape to find its nest. Their target had also been the White Jade Fungi.
His eyebrow rose slightly. “First come, first serve. Since I came here first, the White Jade Fungi are mine. You can leave!”
The three men were stunned, and the man in the center looked surprised—he hadn’t expected such boldness from a young brat. He shrugged his shoulders and shook his saber while staring at Su Yi. “Brat, what did you just say? I’ll give you a chance to repeat yourself.”
“I said, you can leave now.” Su Yi stored the White Jade Fungi and stared at the three men.
The leader appeared to be the one in the middle. Su Yi could sense he was probably at Yuan Xuan Realm First Grade, but definitely not higher than Second Grade, as his aura wasn’t as strong as the Young Master from Black Fiend School.
The other two were both at the Peak of Yuan Soul Realm Ninth Grade, just shy of breaking through to Yuan Xuan Realm.
These three, with their cultivation levels, seemed to be from some small adventurer party, though Su Yi didn’t care much about that detail.
The Forest of Demons contained many such adventurer parties.
Hearing Su Yi’s words, the three men were stunned again.
Despite his pathetic state, this immature young punk dared to speak to them this way?
“Kid, you don’t seem old enough to be weaned from your mother’s milk. A newborn calf fears not the tiger. Looks like I’ll have to teach you a lesson today!” The leader smirked coldly, a dangerous light flashing in his eyes. This brat had succeeded in provoking him, and in the Forest of Demons, killing was commonplace.
“You’ve only just entered Yuan Xuan Realm. With your cultivation level, you don’t have the right to be so arrogant.”
Su Yi smiled slightly, with a hint of mockery.
He was currently training, and these people could serve as sparring partners. Having just reached Yuan Soul Realm Sixth Grade, he wanted to test his current strength.
“Kid, you’re really courting death!” The man’s cold smile was accompanied by swirling bloodlust in his eyes.
Su Yi raised his eyes, the same bloodlust flowing within the depths of his black irises.
The law of the world was that the strong ruled, and in the Forest of Demons, one had to do as others did. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
“Die, you rascal!”
As soon as the leader finished speaking, the man beside him could no longer hold back.
He wore no weapons save for gauntlets made of fine metal, and his body was big and brawny.
Boom!
The brawny man leaped off the ground, Yuan Qi flowing from him as he directed an explosive punch straight at Su Yi.
Feeling Su Yi’s aura and seeing his age, the man didn’t even take him seriously.
