Chapter 875: A Favor Returned?
“What’s happening?!”
The strong man in a sturdy robe’s expression grew serious, and he quickly asked the disciple.
“Deputy leader, that woman… that woman.”
The disciple appeared flustered, his face full of shock, and he gasped for air as he explained, “The one who escaped is the Miss of the Mysterious Sword Gate. The one left behind is her maid. They switched clothes last night, and since it was dark, we didn’t notice.”
Upon hearing this, the strong man’s face turned pale, and he hurried toward the ship’s cabin.
“What… fools! A bunch of useless idiots! Go find them now, quickly!”
Soon, a loud roar echoed from the massive ship, filled with fury.
“Swoosh, swoosh…”
Inside the ship, many small boats shot out, heading in various directions. Figures dashed across the ship, their presence fierce, their auras brimming with anger.
As time dragged on, the sky grew darker.
The setting sun cast a reddish-orange hue across the lonely island, while a faint mist began to form over the vast ocean.
On the horizon, a blood-red sun hung low, casting its lingering glow. The clouds shimmered with golden light, like a flickering flame at the intersection of sea and sky.
On the water, brilliant rays of color spilled, while the sparkling waves gradually gave way to a calm, deep twilight.
“Hmm…”
From the cracks in the rocks, the unconscious girl let out a soft sigh, as if the faint disturbance in her breath was influenced by the medicine’s effects spreading through her body.
“Hoo…”
Su Yi ceased his practice, retracting his hand seals. The crimson aura surrounding his body subsided, and his life force seeped back into his pores. His eyes, which had been half-closed, opened slowly, a fleeting glimmer of light fading.
The girl’s eyelashes fluttered, and she began to open her eyes, her gaze momentarily vacant.
“Um…”
Suddenly, the girl tried to sit up. She seemed to be injured, her body frail and weak. She couldn’t fully rise but managed to sit halfway.
“You’ll be fine. Just rest and heal for a while,” Su Yi reassured her.
As the girl gazed at the face in front of her, her expression immediately shifted. Without hesitation, she swiftly raised her hand and slapped Su Yi.
Still weak from just waking up, the slap had little force, and instead of harming Su Yi, it almost made her lose her balance and fall.
“Are you repaying kindness with hostility?”
Su Yi sidestepped, raising an eyebrow in irritation. He had saved this woman, yet she responded with such aggression. It seemed to him that all women were the same, he thought silently, resolving to avoid helping any women in the future.
The girl, now fully awake, realized that the voice earlier did not belong to anyone from the Sea Dragon Gang. The person before her was young and clearly not one of their disciples.
Her memories of the events before she lost consciousness returned, and the girl quickly checked herself for any injuries.
Worry flickered in her eyes when she noticed her graceful form barely visible in the narrow gap between the rocks. Checking her body, she felt relief—nothing appeared to be missing, but she anxiously asked, “How did I end up here? Where am I?”
“We’re still on the island. The others are dead. I brought you here to keep you safe, fearing someone might come looking for you,” Su Yi explained.
He spoke irritably, his frustration growing. He had saved her with good intentions, yet received no gratitude in return.
“How did you bring me here?”
The girl looked over herself again, finding nothing missing. While she couldn’t detect anything unusual, her body seemed faintly visible. She stared at Su Yi, asking again, “How did you manage to bring me here?”
“You were unconscious, so I carried you. I couldn’t just kick you in with my foot!” Su Yi responded casually.
Su Yi raised an eyebrow and spoke with a calm tone.
“You…”
The girl shot him a furious look. The idea that she had been carried by a man while unconscious left her wondering if he had taken advantage of the situation.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she felt, though she could only suppress her emotions and feel incredibly frustrated.
“Don’t worry, you’re perfectly safe. I’m not interested in you, unlike the people from the Sea Dragon Gang,” Su Yi remarked, noticing her reaction.
“I… you…”
Her thoughts had clearly been exposed with a single sentence, and her pale face flushed with color, especially around her ears.
She recalled the moments before she lost consciousness but chose not to dwell on them. She felt relieved to find no harm done to her, so she asked, “Did you save me? And did you kill the Sea Dragon Gang’s disciples?”
Su Yi simply nodded.
The girl’s eyes widened slightly, recognizing that the healing medicine in her body must have been given by the person before her. A bit of her guardedness melted away.
“You’ve woken up, so I’ll be leaving now. Take care of yourself.”
Now that the woman was awake, Su Yi didn’t want to stay any longer. He had his own matters to attend to and felt it was best to leave.
Watching him prepare to leave, it seemed as though the man had no particular intentions. Feeling her own state, the young girl frowned slightly. Her face, now even paler under the moonlight, she called out, “Wait.”
“Is there something else?” Su Yi asked, turning back.
The young girl studied him, noting that he too appeared quite young. In the moonlight, his gaze was somewhat distant, but there was a hint of handsomeness amidst the haze. She spoke, “I must leave this place as soon as possible. But I’m too injured to do so on my own. If you take me with you, I’ll repay you handsomely. I won’t forget your kindness!”
At that moment, the young girl knew she had to leave immediately. Otherwise, if the Sea Dragon Gang learned the package was switched, they would surely come after her, and then she’d have no way out.
“I saved you out of kindness, not for a reward. I’m not interested in taking you with me. Look after yourself,” Su Yi replied.
Su Yi shook his head, uninterested. He couldn’t even take care of himself, let alone worry about receiving a reward.
Moreover, he wanted no further involvement with this woman. The Sea Dragon Gang was already after her, and it was likely the Mysterious Sword Gate behind her wasn’t much better. In his current situation in the Chaos Realm, staying uninvolved was the wiser choice.
“By the way, I’ve left a boat over there for you. Goodbye!” Su Yi said without looking back.
In the quiet of the night, Su Yi pushed a small boat out onto the sea and hopped in.
The boat rocked, nearly tipping over. There were oars, but Su Yi wasn’t particularly skilled at using them.
The boat spun in circles, not moving forward. After much effort, Su Yi managed to get it pointed in the right direction, but then encountered a bigger problem.
Aside from knowing when they would reach land in the vast ocean, and with the bright moon in the sky to help with direction, Su Yi had no clue which way to go or where the shore lay.
Meanwhile, the girl seemed to regain some strength and stood on a nearby reef. Energy surged through her, and a faint mist surrounded her damp clothes, drying them in the process.
Her eyes fixed on Su Yi from a distance, watching as he fumbled on the surface of the water. A small smile appeared on her pale face, as she already understood the situation.
Moments later, a small boat appeared beside Su Yi. The girl stood effortlessly on it, her feet never touching the oars, yet the boat moved swiftly.
Su Yi, who had been absentmindedly swaying on his boat, was stunned when he saw the sight. He squinted, trying to figure out how the girl was making the boat glide on its own.
“Do you want to cooperate a little? It seems like you’re not very good at boating. I can teach you. You bring me a piece of it, how about that? Otherwise, I don’t think you’ll be able to leave here,” she said, stopping her boat next to Su Yi.
Her tone and expression left no room for negotiation, and Su Yi realized he had no other choice.
“Alright.”
Su Yi didn’t hesitate. Even though he could now identify the direction, using the paddle might take far too long. No one knew how vast the sea area was.
“Okay, let’s settle it then!” she said with certainty.
With a burst of energy, the girl tapped her toes, jumping lightly onto Su Yi’s boat.
“Click, click…”
At the same time, the small boat she had been on cracked, shattering, and was swept away by the waves.
“Swoosh…”
As the girl landed on Su Yi’s boat, her feet radiated energy, and the boat steadied before swiftly gliding forward.
“Pay attention. Control the energy beneath your feet. Don’t rush. Use the energy to push the boat. The key is in mastering the energy control. Give it a try,” she demonstrated calmly.
“Ah, now I get it!” Su Yi finally understood. No wonder her boat glided—it seemed mysterious, but it was simple. She was using the energy swirling beneath her feet to propel the boat.
Though simple, this method required precise control and mastery.
Su Yi attempted it, finding it difficult at first. The boat wobbled and spun in place, with waves splashing around them.
But soon, Su Yi found his balance. The boat began gliding, and he could even steer it.
The girl’s expression remained neutral, but inwardly, she was impressed.
It may have looked easy, but she knew it required complete energy control. This control had nothing to do with her skill level, and it seemed that this man was far from ordinary.
“Where are we going now?” Su Yi asked the girl, now that he had grasped the technique. It was easier than rowing, but still draining on his energy.
“Just head east. Go faster. Once we reach the shore, we’ll be safe,” she replied.
“You’ll be safe, I’ve always been safe,” Su Yi quipped.
“I see now, this must be a corner of the Chaos Realm,” Su Yi concluded, recognizing the direction. For him, any place in the Chaos Realm would work.
