Chapter 675: A Bet (Part 1)
With the Terrifying Star Blade in his hands, Su Yi had high expectations for his blade techniques. Even though he had mastered the Three Sabres of the Raging Dragon, he understood that his skills with the knife were still lacking, similar to his previous swordsmanship. The Foundations of Swordsmanship would provide the key to enhancing his basic blade skills.
For several days, Su Yi concentrated on refining the simplest elements of the Foundations of Swordsmanship.
“Whoosh, whoosh…”
Though it may have seemed basic and dull, Su Yi threw himself into the practice with full dedication. Sometimes, he executed powerful chops; other times, he effortlessly swung the knife with ease.
Eventually, Su Yi removed his shirt and dove under the waterfall. The water came crashing down like wild animals charging through the air.
For the last few days, Su Yi had spent two hours each day practicing beneath the waterfall.
With his body submerged, Su Yi gripped the large knife. At times, he would smoothly slice through the autumn leaves carried by the wind, and at other times, his movements would be as forceful as a thunderstorm, causing water to splash and a mist to form in the air.
The waterfall kept flowing, yet Su Yi did not use any energy, and the large knife in his hands remained unaffected.
This was a form of tempering. Su Yi utilized the waterfall to hone his blade skills. If anyone were to witness this, they would certainly be amazed. For even a seasoned practitioner, enduring the impact of the waterfall without using energy would be a tremendous challenge, let alone practicing knife techniques under such conditions.
But Su Yi succeeded. His physical body was fearless as he gripped the large knife. Under the assault of the roaring waterfall, which resembled wild beasts, he calmly executed a series of sweeping, chopping, flicking, slicing, skimming, restraining, beheading, and thrusting movements…
Suddenly, a figure emerged from within the waterfall, gliding out and landing in the valley.
It was none other than Lifetaken Yama Xi Wuqing. After eight days, his pale complexion had regained some color, and he had changed into a fresh black robe, his previous one stained with blood. It appeared that he had a preference for black. His once messy black hair was now neatly tied behind his shoulders.
As Xi Wuqing gazed at the figure in the waterfall, his expression shifted, showing clear surprise.
“Swish!”
From the waterfall, Su Yi swung his sword with lightning speed, cutting through the water curtain and sending massive waves crashing.
“Swoosh…”
A surge of energy flowed beneath his feet as Su Yi’s figure glided out. He stood shirtless, his wet hair draped over his face.
“Splish splash…”
With the release of fire elemental energy, his wet hair and clothes quickly dried, and Su Yi landed beside Xi Wuqing.
“How are your injuries, senior?” Su Yi noticed Xi Wuqing and smiled slightly, storing his powerful Xuan Weapon in the space bag.
“I’m better now, but full recovery will take some time,” Xi Wuqing replied, his gaze continually shifting to Su Yi, as though trying to assess him more closely.
“That’s a relief.”
Su Yi donned a blue robe and adjusted his appearance, smiling warmly.
“Were you practicing knife techniques just now?”
Xi Wuqing glanced at Su Yi, his curiosity piqued.
“It’s just the basics, nothing too impressive for you, senior,” Su Yi replied, not hiding the fact that it was only the foundational skills of the blade.
“Even the tallest tower starts from the ground. With your current cultivation, it’s rare to see someone dedicate themselves to practicing the basics of knife skills so seriously,” Xi Wuqing said, offering his admiration.
Xi Wuqing didn’t hide his admiration. Given Su Yi’s cultivation level and youth, it was commendable that he remained humble and focused on the fundamentals of swordsmanship. Few people could match this level of mentality.
“Senior, you flatter me. It’s simply that I haven’t mastered the basics yet. I had no choice but to go back and start from the beginning,” Su Yi said with a faint smile, recognizing his own shortcomings in the basics of swordsmanship.
“Haha, you’re being modest,” Xi Wuqing laughed. He could tell that Su Yi’s swordsmanship, displayed during their previous encounter, was anything but ordinary.
After a brief pause, Su Yi asked Xi Wuqing, “Senior, why did strong members of the Tianlong Sect attack you in the Forest of Demons? Do you have some grudge with them?”
The Tianlong Sect is a powerful faction, not just a common mountain gate. If they find out about your interference, you’ll have angered the Fire Dragon Master by cutting off three of his fingers. The Tianlong Sect won’t let you off easily. Are you starting to feel frightened? Regretful?
Xi Wuqing, staring at Su Yi with a composed expression, answered, “I’m sure you’re frightened, but if you had regret, you wouldn’t have acted. Your cultivation may be modest, but you understand how to be grateful and repay debts.”
Su Yi smiled lightly. “Indeed, I am afraid, but I do not regret it. The Tianlong Sect is a mighty entity, one that reaches beyond the Sacred Mountain.”
“Hehe, you’re a brave one. Here, have a drink,” Xi Wuqing chuckled, handing a large gourd of wine to Su Yi.
“To be honest, since we parted ways last time, I’ve often longed for the taste of your wine, senior,” Su Yi said without hesitation, eagerly taking a big gulp. He had truly missed the taste of the fine wine.
The alcohol burned like a sharp blade scraping down his throat, leaving behind a warming sensation. It felt as if his throat would burst into flames.
Fortunately, Su Yi was prepared. Unlike before, his face didn’t flush as he swallowed, nearly spitting the wine out.
The warmth of the alcohol spread throughout his body, radiating like waves of heat inside him. This was high-quality wine.
“Why are you still in the Forest of Demons?” Xi Wuqing asked Su Yi, his eyes glinting with a hidden spark.
“I went to the Divine Sword School, but it didn’t suit me, so I came back. I didn’t expect to run into you again, senior. It must be fate,” Su Yi replied, passing the gourd back to Xi Wuqing.
Xi Wuqing accepted it and took a sip himself. “The Divine Sword School is a fine place. With your cultivation, you should earn respect there.”
“It’s a long story. We’ll talk about it later.”
Su Yi considered that the people at the Divine Sword School probably thought he was dead, but he did miss Elder Su, Xu Jiahui, Zhang Qing, Situ Muyang, and the others.
“What are your plans for the future?” Xi Wuqing asked, passing the gourd back to Su Yi.
Su Yi took another large gulp without hesitation. This was excellent wine, and he wasn’t about to waste it. “I plan to head to the Chaos Realm and see it for myself.”
“The Chaos Realm? This kid has guts. It’s not an ordinary place, even more chaotic than the Forest of Demons,” Xi Wuqing said, slightly surprised but not overly shocked.
“I want to experience it,” Su Yi proudly stated, taking another generous sip.
“Save some for me, there’s not much left.”
Watching Su Yi drink so much in one go, Xi Wuqing felt a pang of regret and snatched the wine gourd back from Su Yi, taking a sip for himself.
“Why be stingy, senior? I once tasted a wine like no other. In the future, if given the chance, I will definitely treat you to a grand drink,” Su Yi said with a smile, thinking back to the delicious wine from the Divine Demonic Sect. However, there was only a little left.
