Chapter 657: Su Wan’er and Wang Shangwu!
The courtyard appeared tidy and well-maintained, as though it had been cleaned recently.
“That reckless girl!”
Su Yi lingered in the courtyard for a while, noticing signs of Su Wan’er’s presence and recalling the expressions and gestures she had made earlier.
“Don’t worry. I can tell Wan’er is fortunate. She has a way of turning even the worst situations around,” the elder reassured Su Yi, understanding their bond.
“I hope you’re right,” Su Yi replied with a sigh, wishing for the safety of both Su Wan’er and Fatty Wang.
“Alas…”
Two fierce birds circled above. Su Yi released his aura and summoned Wolfbat and the Dark Golden Demon Falcon.
“Take care, Grandfather.”
Before the dawn arrived, Su Yi mounted Wolfbat and bid his grandfather farewell. He felt a pang of reluctance but quickly soared into the air, disappearing into the darkness.
“Are those Young Master Su Yi’s mounts? It seems they’ve left.”
From the newly built tower in Man City, a figure looked up and saw the two massive creatures flying off into the night sky, fading away with a few flaps of their wings.
“Who is this mere servant? Such a talented individual! Haha!”
Watching the silhouettes vanish into the darkness, the old man chuckled.
…
The night was hazy with clouds, and a few faint stars twinkled in the sky.
“This one seems to hold many secrets. I wonder how far he can go,” a soft voice echoed from within the depths of Man City. The voice had an ancient, ghostly quality to it, but no one was around to hear it.
In the early morning, the sky was blanketed with clouds.
“Go and check if any dangerous creatures have found those two humans.”
Su Yi instructed the Wolf-headed Demon Bat and the Dark Golden Demon Falcon to search separately for any signs of Su Wan’er and Fatty Wang.
“Awooooo…”
The two creatures flew off in different directions.
“Wan’er, Fatty, stay safe.”
Su Yi pondered, heading towards the Forest of Demons. With his current strength, he wasn’t afraid of any danger near the outskirts of the Forest. Along the way, he subdued a few demon beasts using the Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique, but still found no trace of the missing pair.
…
The forest was dense with towering trees and thick vines.
The deep woods seemed untouched, like a wilderness no one had entered.
Two figures appeared cautiously among the trees, a boy and a girl, both young in appearance.
The boy had a round face, full of baby fat, and his eyes were nearly always half-closed.
The girl, no older than fifteen, had a melon-shaped face with slender brows. Despite her disheveled state, her natural beauty could not be hidden, and her graceful form stood out even in such conditions.
These two were Wang Shangwu and Su Wan’er, the ones Su Yi was searching for.
“Wan’er, it’s been so long. Continuing like this is fruitless. Maybe we should turn back. It’s too dangerous here,” Wang Shangwu suggested, his gaze wary as he scanned the surroundings. In the past few days, he had narrowly avoided death numerous times, escaping from terrifying demon beasts.
“I need to find Brother Su Yi,” Su Wan’er said resolutely.
“Wan’er,” said the people of Sacred Mountain, “they say Su Yi is dead. I believe he might still be alive, but good people don’t live long, and misfortune seems inevitable. He can’t have perished so easily. But with just the two of us, it’s too risky. If we don’t find Su Yi soon, we’ll be eaten by demon beasts.”
Wang Shangwu sighed, his clothes tattered and worn after they lost everything in their hurried escape.
“Brother Su Yi isn’t the troublemaker you think,” Su Wan’er retorted firmly.
“I’m only saying he has good luck. He’s not the type to die easily.”
Wang Shangwu chuckled awkwardly, casting an envious glance at Su Wan’er. “I wonder what good deeds he did in his past life. In this life, he gets a sister like you. It’s better than having a real family who would risk their lives for him.”
“You came along because of my insistence, didn’t you?” Su Wan’er turned around, smiling at him. Although she was disheveled, her beauty shone through—her skin, smooth as fresh fruit, radiated an ethereal glow. Her delicate figure had begun to attract attention, and in a few years, she might captivate a nation with her beauty.
“It’s only because you begged me so much that I agreed to come. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have bothered. That guy is definitely not dead. He might be living it up somewhere right now,” Wang Shangwu remarked.
While everyone else believed Su Yi was dead based on news from Sacred Mountain, Wang Shangwu couldn’t bring himself to accept that. How could Su Yi be so easily defeated?
“When my brother left, he said you were one of the few people in Man City I could trust. You were his friend, and that’s why you’re here with me,” Su Wan’er explained.
“I don’t know what I did wrong in my past life. Meeting that guy has thrown my whole life into chaos. I don’t even know what’s happening with my father now. He’s probably really angry,” Wang Shangwu lamented.
Wang Shangwu muttered to himself as they ventured deeper into the Forest of Demons. He could already picture his father’s furious expression when he found out.
“Crack…”
The forest shook slightly as branches snapped and leaves crunched underfoot.
“Be careful, there are dangerous creatures nearby.”
Su Wan’er’s face changed instantly, and she turned around cautiously.
Wang Shangwu’s eyes widened, and he quickly glanced around. It was strange to him that, despite his higher rank in the Yuan Soul Realm, he was often caught off guard by demon beasts, while Su Wan’er, who had no cultivation, seemed to sense them first.
“Whoosh…”
A heavy breath, like the wind, swept through the air, raising dust. The two looked up and saw several demon beasts slowly approaching them. These creatures stood as tall as humans, with features resembling wolves and tigers, their bodies covered in sharp spines. Their long, curved fangs and blood-red eyes locked onto the two of them with malicious intent.
“This is bad. We’re in serious trouble again.”
Wang Shangwu’s face became grim, and he hurriedly picked up a small stone, his anxiety growing. There were too many of them, and escape seemed impossible.
“Roar…”
The six fierce demon beasts howled, their eyes fixed hungrily on the pair before them.
“Don’t be afraid. The more afraid we are, the more they’ll attack.”
Su Wan’er stood in front of Wang Shangwu, her gaze steely as she locked eyes with the approaching demon beasts.
