Chapter 656: The Pain of Sacrifice!
Su Yi was eager to locate Su Wan’er and Fatty Wang as soon as possible. Before departing, he intended to leave behind some resources for the Su family.
His mysterious space contained a wealth of valuable items, which reassured him. Only by strengthening every member of the Su family could they ensure better protection for both their clan and Man City.
Without delay, Su Yi summoned the mysterious space and stepped inside.
“Huh…”
Upon entering, he was taken aback. The mysterious space had expanded considerably, and its previously drained energy had noticeably recovered. Based on his past experiences, he deduced that this change was linked to his recent cultivation in the Void God Sea.
Although he hadn’t managed to break through to the Yuan True Realm, he speculated that every time he grew stronger, the mysterious space would also expand and replenish some of its energy.
“Who did this?!”
Just as Su Yi was beginning to feel pleased, his expression abruptly froze. A wave of unease swept through him as his surroundings pulsed in sync with his heartbeat.
A sudden pang clenched his chest, a deep, cutting pain that felt as though his own flesh had been torn. The once lush, radiant medicine field, brimming with a glowing aura, had turned into a chaotic wreck. It looked as if a horde of wild demon beasts had trampled through it.
Numerous medicinal herbs and spiritual plants had been destroyed—at least half of their original quantity was gone. Su Yi couldn’t help but recall the countless herbs he had painstakingly collected from the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords and its hidden space.
“Su Yi, you’re finally here,” a familiar voice called. Blood Spiritual Ginseng emerged from the ground beneath him, appearing disheveled and distraught, its gaze fixed on the devastated medicine field. It lamented, “That little bird was so reckless! I couldn’t even stop him. What a disaster, what a disaster…”
Following Blood Spiritual Ginseng’s gaze, Su Yi spotted Su Xiaoshuai lying directly in the wreckage. His tiny body was now swollen like a plump sphere, radiating a golden glow. His half-lidded eyes showed no awareness of Su Yi’s arrival.
“What did Su Xiaoshuai do?”
Su Yi’s eyes narrowed in contemplation. Within this mysterious space, only Blood Spiritual Ginseng and Su Xiaoshuai were present. The ginseng itself was a medicinal entity and had no need for additional herbs. But looking at Su Xiaoshuai’s distended belly, it was obvious—he had gorged himself.
“That little bird went wild! He ate endlessly—like a bottomless pit! When I tried to stop him, he even tried to eat me! If I hadn’t escaped quickly, I would have been done for!” Blood Spiritual Ginseng still shuddered at the memory.
“Su Xiaoshuai…”
Su Yi’s patience snapped, and he roared, “I’m teaching you a lesson today!”
“Big brother, you’re here! I think I’m about to break through. Let’s talk later.”
Su Xiaoshuai lazily opened his eyes, his gaze filled with warmth. As he spoke, waves of heat rippled through the air, carrying a powerful presence. Before Su Yi could respond, Su Xiaoshuai shut his eyes again, resuming his breakthrough.
“You…”
Faced with Su Xiaoshuai’s innocent expression, Su Yi forced down his anger. Sensing the surging energy fluctuations, he relented, saying, “Fine, focus on your breakthrough first.”
A breakthrough required absolute concentration, and Su Yi couldn’t afford to interfere. Swallowing his frustration, he almost coughed up blood in the effort to restrain himself.
He proceeded to inspect the mysterious space. Fortunately, the Dark Spirit Fruit Tree remained intact.
The Yuan Weapons stored within the space were also unharmed, as were the numerous pills Su Yi had hidden under strategically placed stones.
After verifying the inventory, he confirmed that only the medicinal herbs had suffered from Su Xiaoshuai’s voracious appetite. Though relieved that the damage wasn’t worse, Su Yi still felt as though a blade had cut through his heart—it had taken great effort to gather those precious resources, yet they had been carelessly squandered.
Su Xiaoshuai’s breakthrough wouldn’t conclude anytime soon, and Su Yi couldn’t afford to wait. He had to find Su Wan’er and Fatty Wang without delay.
“Granddaddy Seng, I have a request for you,” Su Yi said.
Despite the lingering pain in his heart, he turned to Blood Spiritual Ginseng, explaining that he wanted to leave some Spiritual Whiskers behind for the Su family.
“I owe you greatly and haven’t even repaid the debt for my grandfather’s injuries. This is the least I can do,” Su Yi added.
Blood Spiritual Ginseng nodded, releasing a gentle green light. Its entire form trembled as shimmering tendrils detached one by one. The air filled with an ethereal glow as dozens of tendrils drifted into Su Yi’s hands. Instantly, the ginseng’s energy weakened noticeably.
“Thank you, Granddaddy Seng,” Su Yi said with gratitude, bowing deeply. He understood the immense value of these tendrils.
Even before reaching the Demonic Void Realm, a single tendril of Blood Spiritual Ginseng held boundless energy. Now that it had attained the Demonic Void Realm, the potency of a single tendril was immeasurable.
Ordinarily, the ginseng would wail at the loss of even one tendril. Yet, this time, it had willingly parted with almost all of them—an act that profoundly moved Su Yi.
“It’s fine. This won’t harm my foundation. However, I will need time to recover,” Blood Spiritual Ginseng reassured him. Without Su Yi’s past help, it knew it would have perished long ago.
With those parting words, the Blood Spiritual Ginseng vanished into the ground.
Su Yi glanced once more at Su Xiaoshuai, still struggling through his breakthrough, before leaving the mysterious space.
Not long after, he was back in his room.
Old Man Su Yuntian was stunned as Su Yi emptied a large stash of pills, Spirit Weapons, Xuan Weapons, and other cultivation resources from his space bag. His eyes bulged as he took in the vast wealth before him.
“These are useless to me. Distribute them to the younger generation of the Su family.”
Su Yi entrusted the old man with the valuable resources, including ten Dark Spirit Fruits.
“These are incredible treasures! The Su family will flourish with these!”
The old man’s excitement rivaled that of a child’s.
Previously, the Divine Sword School had provided the Su family with substantial resources, but Su Yi’s contribution now far exceeded that. With such an abundance of cultivation materials, the overall strength of the Su family would surely rise at an accelerated pace.
“Grandpa, please arrange for someone to deliver this bag to the Wang family. I won’t go myself. Just act as if I was never here.”
Su Yi handed over a separate bag, prepared especially for the Wang family.
“Understood.”
The old man nodded knowingly. He grasped Su Yi’s intentions clearly. As Su Yi prepared to leave once more, he took a final glance at the courtyard he had called home.
