Chapter 599: Disciple of the Sacred Mountain
Seeing the middle-aged man, it was evident that he had drunk too much. His eyes were bloodshot, and he reeked of alcohol.
Su Yi raised his eyes and used his soul power to scan him, quickly realizing that the middle-aged man was merely an ordinary cultivator at the Yuan Soul Realm level.
Su Yi had no interest in dealing with a drunk, so he stood up and began to leave.
“Hey, kid, stop right there! This is Forging Sword City! Are you mocking us by carrying such a broken sword around?”
Su Yi tried to leave, but the middle-aged man persisted and reached out to grab him.
Su Yi’s expression darkened slightly as he swiftly moved aside, avoiding the man’s grasp.
“Huh, so you’re a skilled martial artist after all.” The middle-aged man, now partially sober, changed his demeanor. In an instant, his arm trembled, and he tried to grab Su Yi’s shoulder.
“I’m not the one you’re looking for while you’re drunk! You have the wrong person!”
Su Yi’s gaze darkened completely as he clashed his fist against the man’s.
“Pff…”
The collision was immediate. The middle-aged man vomited blood and was sent flying, crashing into a wall corner.
“Ah…”
The man screamed in shock, finally fully waking up. His eyes widened in disbelief.
The tavern fell silent, all eyes on Su Yi, their expressions full of surprise.
The group of middle-aged men who had been with the drunkard also wore shocked expressions. Someone rushed forward to help the drunk man up.
The atmosphere in the tavern shifted from a bustling buzz to a tense quiet. Everyone realized that this seemingly young man was far from ordinary.
In a corner of the tavern, a figure sat alone, his head hidden beneath a robe and hat. He glanced at Su Yi, then resumed drinking as if he were completely indifferent to everything happening around him.
Su Yi paid no attention to the drunk middle-aged man and pushed open the door to leave.
“What’s the point of Forging Sword City if they don’t even have a decent sword? Might as well have a drink instead!”
Just then, a voice came from outside, followed by the sound of the tavern door opening and several figures walking in past Su Yi.
“Kid, don’t you have eyes? You bumped into me!”
A cold voice accompanied by a sharp gaze locked onto Su Yi.
Su Yi turned to see four teenagers, about his age, no older than seventeen or eighteen. They were dressed well and had a commanding presence, though their attitudes left much to be desired.
Su Yi observed them closely and was surprised. From their attire, it was clear they were not disciples of the Divine Sword School. They didn’t appear to belong to any regular sect either. Their auras were impressive, even surpassing some disciples from the Divine Sword School.
“You stay on one side, and I’ll go out. Did I bump into you when I opened the door? You should be more polite next time.”
Su Yi was not one to tolerate unnecessary provocations. His unease aside, he didn’t care about their background or identity, speaking to them without any deference.
The young men were already irritated, and seeing a peer dare to speak back to them like that—especially outside of the sect—angered them even more.
“Oh? Didn’t expect this kid to be so arrogant. Are you a disciple of the Divine Sword School?” One of the young men, wearing yellow robes, asked coldly.
“Whether I’m a disciple of the Divine Sword School or not is none of your business. It’s best if you don’t provoke me, or you’ll regret it,” Su Yi replied calmly.
“Arrogant brat. Even if you’re from the Divine Sword School, so what? You should still know your place in front of us.”
The yellow-robed youth was briefly taken aback, his expression darkening immediately.
“Junior brother, calm down. After all, we’re just here to relax at the Divine Sword School. Don’t cause trouble, or else…”
The oldest among them spoke, walking toward Su Yi with purpose. He waved his hand and said, “You can leave now.”
Su Yi glanced at the group calmly before turning to leave.
“Hmph, this kid’s lucky. He really thinks the Divine Sword School is something special.”
“The disciples from the Divine Sword School aren’t worth fighting. Whatever, I can’t be bothered.”
“The Divine Sword School means nothing in front of Sacred Mountain!”
The yellow-robed youth scowled, watching Su Yi leave. He wanted to take action but was stopped. He had no choice but to endure, remembering the elder’s specific instructions not to cause trouble during their outing. Disobeying would result in punishment when they returned.
The others spoke coldly as well. Their visit wasn’t only to see the Divine Sword School disciples but also to gain some experience. From their interactions with the disciples, it became clear that only the top few from the Sword Tower had notable strength, while the rest lagged behind and couldn’t compare to Sacred Mountain.
Lately, they’d been bored at the Divine Sword School, so they wandered around to pass the time. They had managed to escape from the few disciples who had been following them, ending up in this place. They expected to find some decent swords in the so-called Forging Sword City but found nothing of interest, not a single sword worthy of their attention.
“Sacred Mountain…”
Su Yi, on the verge of leaving, suddenly stopped. He turned his head and locked eyes with the young men, asking, “Are you disciples of Sacred Mountain?”
Inside the tavern, the figure who had been drinking alone and keeping his head lowered seemed to react to the mention of “Sacred Mountain.” He briefly looked up, but his face remained obscured by his cloak, preventing anyone from seeing his features.
“Disciples of Sacred Mountain!”
The people inside the tavern, upon hearing the words “Sacred Mountain,” suddenly looked alarmed.
Everyone in the Central Region knew of Sacred Mountain. It was the largest and most powerful force in the region. Even the disciples from the Divine Sword School were treated with respect in Forging Sword City. However, the presence of Sacred Mountain’s disciples was far more significant than the Divine Sword School’s.
“Hmph, you just figured it out? I’ll spare you today. Now get lost!”
