Chapter 572: Danger Strikes Continuously!
“I can’t say for sure, but the presence feels incredibly mysterious.”
Su Yi shook his head, unable to comprehend exactly what had just occurred. One thing was certain—he had narrowly avoided a calamity.
“Boom!”
Suddenly, the ground shook unexpectedly.
“Be cautious…”
Su Yi and Situ Muyang, still trembling with fear, instinctively stood back to back. They circulated their energies as they braced themselves for whatever was to come.
“Haha…”
The earth cracked open, and two skeletal hands emerged, radiating a dark, ominous aura. The bones were eerie and white with a tinge of black. One hand grabbed Su Yi’s ankle, while the other latched onto Situ Muyang’s. A mysterious force enveloped them, eating away at their protective shields.
“Oh no!”
Su Yi underwent a profound transformation. A dazzling light sparked in his eyes, like a flash of lightning—sharp and intense. His clothes fluttered wildly, and his hair whipped in the wind. Power surged through him, as if his very essence was infused with the fury of thunder. With a stomp of his foot, a vortex of energy swirled beneath him, spinning like a violent storm.
“Boom…”
The ground shook beneath him as the air resonated with a deafening roar!
This was the first strike of the Wrath of the Eight Wastelands, and from Su Yi’s position, dark earth energy ripples surged outward, expanding like waves.
“Click, click…”
Where Su Yi stepped, cracks formed in the ground, spreading out like spider webs in all directions, thin threads radiating from each point.
The rocks and dirt around him crumbled instantly, while the entire area trembled violently from the force of the shockwaves.
The two skeletal hands, which had risen from the earth, were forced back, and the dark light surrounding them began to dissipate.
“Boom…”
At that moment, however, a series of disturbances rippled through the air from the surrounding mountains, and several skeleton-like figures emerged from unknown places.
These skeletal beings had wild, unkempt hair and exuded a chilling aura. Sinister black light flickered in their eye sockets as they immediately locked their gaze on Su Yi and Situ Muyang.
“Oh no, this is bad! We need to run!”
Su Yi’s expression changed dramatically, and he quickly surged with energy, fleeing at once.
“What in the world is going on? I’ve never heard of such dangers before!”
Situ Muyang licked his lips, surprised. He had never encountered such eerie perils in the Divine Sword Valley. Without wasting a second, he quickly followed behind Su Yi.
“Cuckoo…”
Just as Su Yi and Situ Muyang continued their flight, a towering skeletal figure crawled out of the cracked earth. Its eyes glowed with dark light as it fixed its gaze on their retreating figures. It then sprinted after them.
“Zoom, zoom…”
From the surrounding mountain peaks and cliffs, several skeletons leapt and scaled the rocky surfaces like monkeys, closing in on Su Yi and Situ Muyang.
“What in the world is this? Have they turned into zombies?”
Situ Muyang dashed forward, not daring to glance back. The eerie skeletons were relentless in their pursuit.
“It can’t be a corpse mutation…”
Su Yi was equally startled. Buried here were the powerful ancestors of the Divine Sword School—mighty figures from the past. How could they have become corrupted corpses? Something extraordinary must have occurred here.
“What should we do now?”
Situ Muyang asked, his voice tinged with worry. The skeletons behind them, though still following closely, were not flying and were moving at a similar pace. However, their numbers were steadily growing.
“Let’s head up the mountain ahead.”
Su Yi replied, his voice firm. “There’s no other choice now. Even if we wanted to leave, there’s no way back.”
In the Divine Sword Valley, not a single blade of grass grew. The silence was absolute.
Su Yi and Situ Muyang continued their frantic flight, with the eerie skeletons still hot on their heels. From a distance, the scene was unsettling.
After a long time, they finally neared the massive mountain peak ahead.
But inexplicably, the chilling atmosphere in the air grew even thicker, more oppressive.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Suddenly, a loud commotion erupted ahead, accompanied by muffled surges of energy. Several figures appeared before Su Yi and Situ Muyang.
It was clear now—one man and two women, currently locked in battle with three skeletons, each engaged in an intense clash.
“It’s Ying Qianqian, Gong Qi, and Ouyang Ran,” Situ Muyang recognized them from a distance.
Su Yi, too, recognized the three. He hadn’t expected to find them here, and they were clearly fighting the same eerie skeletons.
The strength of these three opponents was formidable. Despite their best efforts, Ying Qianqian, Gong Qi, and Ouyang Ran were struggling to overcome the unarmed skeletons. They had already begun to retreat, their clothes in disarray and their bodies covered in wounds.
“They seem to be in trouble. Should we help them?”
Situ Muyang asked, though it was clear that the three had never been particularly kind to Su Yi. In the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords, they had once chased after him and Situ Muyang. Moreover, the eerie skeletons pursuing them were still relentless.
“Zoom…”
The expressions of Ying Qianqian, Gong Qi, and Ouyang Ran changed drastically. Shock and fear were evident as they fought desperately, but they found it hard to overcome the skeletal adversaries. Step by step, they were forced back, their hair disheveled and their bodies battered.
“Ding…”
Gong Qi’s sword clashed with a skeletal hand, producing a shower of sparks. But despite the impact, the skeleton’s hand remained unscathed, gripping Gong Qi’s sword tightly. A strange aura emanated from the sword, capable of draining life energy.
Gong Qi’s face paled. The strange power was affecting her life energy, and her precious sword was locked in the skeleton’s grip, unable to be drawn out.
The eerie presence also began to affect her soul, leaving her feeling light-headed.
“Ha…”
A skeletal claw suddenly appeared in front of Gong Qi, glowing with dark energy and exuding a strange power that made her soul tremble.
“Oh no…”
Gong Qi’s face turned ashen, as she felt death approaching.
“Be careful!”
Ying Qianqian exclaimed in alarm, but she was in no better position. Helplessly, she could do nothing to aid Gong Qi.
“Splash!”
In a flash, a figure in a blue robe appeared before Gong Qi. A torrent of elemental energy erupted, and with a powerful punch, the figure collided with the skeletal claw.
“Boom…”
The impact sent sand and stones flying, and the ground shook beneath them.
“Ding ding…”
The figure in the blue robe and Gong Qi were both knocked back by the force, staggering several steps before regaining their balance.
Gong Qi managed to break free, and in that brief moment, the oppressive presence dissipated, and a gust of wind pushed her backward.
“Hmm!”
Su Yi, retreating himself, stomped his foot to steady himself. His blood surged, and a muffled groan escaped his lips. He nearly vomited blood from the strain.
“It’s you…”
Gong Qi, surprised, looked at the figure who had just rescued her. It was Su Yi! Bewilderment crossed her face as she stood shaken from the terrifying ordeal she had just narrowly escaped.
The skeletal figure stood motionless, its body flickering with an aura. Strangely, its eyes began to glow with a shimmering light as if in torment. It locked its gaze on Su Yi and Gong Qi, pointing a trembling finger toward the majestic mountain peak. With a hoarse, desperate voice, it rasped, “Up the mountain… hurry, go to the mountain!”
Ying Qianqian and Ouyang Ran, initially battling two skeletal figures, noticed a change. The two figures, too, were now affected. Their eyes glowed with dark light, though not as intensely as the one who had clashed with Su Yi. Nonetheless, they ceased their attacks on Ying Qianqian and Ouyang Ran.
“Run, quickly!”
Situ Muyang shouted urgently, without hesitation.
“Go!”
Su Yi’s face grew solemn. The skeletons were far too dangerous to deal with. There was no choice but to ascend the mountain.
Gong Qi, Ying Qianqian, and Ouyang Ran, no longer hesitating, immediately followed behind Su Yi with all their strength.
The skeletons, relentless in their pursuit, remained close behind.
After the brief confrontation, the three skeletons paused momentarily. Their eyes once again filled with dark light as they became part of the eerie force that surrounded them.
“What is going on here? Do you know anything about these skeletons?”
Gong Qi, Ying Qianqian, and Situ Muyang asked Su Yi and Situ Muyang, their voices trembling in fear.
“We don’t know either. How many of them have you encountered?” Situ Muyang shook his head and asked.
“There were several of them, all terrifying!” Ouyang Ran responded, still shuddering with fear.
The five of them were nearing the towering mountain peak, but behind them, a growing horde of skeletons—now more than a dozen—was still hot on their trail.
“Waaah!”
Suddenly, the sound of wind echoed, sending a chill down their spines.
A dazzling light suddenly burst forth ahead of them, like lightning. It swept through the air with an overwhelming presence.
“Be careful!”
Su Yi warned softly, enveloping his body with a radiant aura. He swiftly pressed his palm forward, creating a powerful handprint.
“Swoosh…”
The light descended, transforming into a brilliant sword that cleaved through Su Yi’s palm imprint, shattering it into pieces.
The sword energy spread downward, filling Su Yi with a terrifying aura, causing his face to turn pale. Quickly, Su Yi activated the Hundred Transformations Step, evading at an impossible angle.
“Zoom!”
A cold light flashed near his ear, sending a shiver down Su Yi’s spine and causing goosebumps to spread across his entire body.
The radiant aura surrounding him shattered. A few strands of hair were sliced off, and a faint bloodstain appeared on his neck.
Under the overwhelming pressure of the aura, a trace of blood appeared at the corner of Su Yi’s mouth as he staggered backward.
If not for his mastery of the Hundred Transformations Step, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
“Whoo!”
A howling wind echoed as a precious sword materialized in the void, radiating a dazzling light that instilled fear.
However, it was surrounded by a mysterious, dark aura.
“This sword is a treasure of the highest level!”
Ying Qianqian, Ouyang Ran, Gong Qi, and Situ Muyang all turned pale as the strange sword began its attack.
“Whooosh!”
The sword hummed loudly, with black light rippling from it.
Suddenly, it unleashed a massive wave of sword energy, descending from mid-air.
The sword light surged forward, engulfing Ying Qianqian, Situ Muyang, Ouyang Ran, and Gong Qi in its radiant glow.
“Oh no!”
This was no ordinary sword, and all four of them knew its terrifying power. Even someone as powerful as Su Yi had been injured by a single strike.
“Let’s act together!”
In that moment, they shared a silent understanding and acted as one.
Even Situ Muyang drew his treasured sword, and four beams of sword light shot forward with full force.
“Swooosh, swooosh, swooosh…”
The four beams of sword light sped forward, fanning out to form a vast sea of swords that collided with each other.
