Chapter 494: Making a Deal
At this moment, Su Yi was covered in blood, his body riddled with cuts and bruises, his form a tattered mess. Despite this, he remained standing, his expression serious as he placed an elixir into his mouth, eyes locked on the Radiant Light Deer.
The Radiant Light Deer was taken aback by the sight. Despite only being at the fifth stage of the Yuan Spirit Realm, the young man before it stood his ground. In its experience, even an ordinary cultivator at the first stage of the Yuan True Realm would have crumbled under such an attack.
“Are you alright?” Situ Muyang, also severely injured, approached Su Yi, his face pale and strained from the battle. It was clear that he was in a worse state than Su Yi.
“This is troublesome,” Su Yi replied with a wry smile, acknowledging the severity of the situation.
“Maybe we should just hand over the Dark Spirit Fruits and think of another plan,” suggested Situ Muyang. He knew that this beast was the guardian of the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords, meaning it answered to the Divine Sword School. He also sensed that the deer had been holding back, sparing them for now. Giving up the fruits might just defuse the situation.
“Surrender the Dark Spirit Fruits and the opportunities you’ve found, or else I’ll show you no mercy,” the Radiant Light Deer declared, its eyes glowing with an enchanting light, its slender form radiating an imposing presence that felt as solid as a mountain.
“What opportunity?” Su Yi scoffed, shaking his head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. This is just a level within the Demonic Void Realm. Don’t mistake me for someone who fears you. If necessary, we can both be destroyed in this battle.”
Su Yi took a deep breath, unsheathing the broken sword from his back. He gripped it tightly with one hand, his remaining Yuan Qi surging within his body as the Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique enveloped him. A fierce crimson light ignited in his eyes.
Su Yi knew very well what the Dark Spirit Fruits were—especially now that they had been imbued with potent medicinal effects from the mysterious realm. He was never one to simply give up what he had obtained.
Though the demon beasts of the Demonic Void Realm were terrifying, Su Yi had faced them before. Back in the Forest of Demons, he had defeated an elder of the Black Fiend School who was in the Yuan Void Realm, aided by the power of the mysterious broken sword.
Even though he couldn’t count on the sword to unleash its power again, Su Yi was confident he could make a strategic retreat if the battle became too intense. After all, he still possessed treasures from the mysterious realm meant to counter such beasts.
“This fool’s too arrogant!” Situ Muyang muttered, watching Su Yi prepare for direct combat with the mighty Radiant Light Deer. It was madness to challenge such a formidable beast with only the strength of the Yuan Spirit Realm. It was reckless, not courage.
“Human, you are far too arrogant,” the Radiant Light Deer said, its voice tinged with both amusement and irritation. “You may have some talent, but your strength is still lacking.”
Su Yi clenched his teeth and tightened his grip on the broken sword. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, then fixed his gaze on the deer. “You’ll see soon enough. I don’t believe that you, of all beings, can come out unscathed if this battle unfolds.”
The Radiant Light Deer’s eyes narrowed, sensing something unfamiliar in Su Yi’s aura, a subtle change that gave it pause.
“You’re trying to threaten me?” The deer’s expression shifted slightly, its tone turning more intrigued. “Do you really believe that such empty words will make me cower? Do you think I care about those disciples of the Divine Sword School? They are searching for you, after all.”
Su Yi’s heart skipped a beat. It seemed this deer had some knowledge beyond the ordinary. It knew more than just what was immediately apparent.
“If you doubt it, try me,” Su Yi said, his aura flaring once more as the Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique surged. A crimson glow surrounded him, releasing a powerful and destructive energy.
The Radiant Light Deer’s eyes flickered as it observed the shift in Su Yi’s energy. The youth before it exuded an aura that was indeed powerful and mysterious—one that made it wary.
“Perhaps we can reach a compromise, elder,” Su Yi said, his eyes locking onto the deer.
“A deal?” The Radiant Light Deer was taken aback. This was the first time it had encountered a human youth with such audacity and intrigue. It had encountered countless disciples from the Divine Sword School, but none had dared approach it in this manner.
“Yes, I have the Dark Spirit Fruits, but I doubt they would do you much good,” Su Yi continued, his voice steady and calm. “However, I’m willing to offer something far more valuable, something that could truly benefit you. In exchange, you let us go without further harm.”
The deer’s eyes gleamed with curiosity. “Are you offering me something from that secret realm you mentioned?” The light in its eyes intensified as it spoke.
Su Yi’s expression remained neutral. “We did indeed enter that realm. We acquired spiritual herbs, but nothing else of significance. As for other fortuitous opportunities, we can’t say for sure. You’ve likely been inside yourself. You can investigate to verify.”
Su Yi’s heart raced. He knew that revealing too much could lead to trouble, but he couldn’t afford to seem evasive either.
The deer’s gaze flickered with deep thought. It had been to the mysterious realm and sensed that something extraordinary had occurred within. However, it still lacked concrete details and could not easily investigate further, as many disciples from the Divine Sword School had already entered.
“Senior, please take a look at this,” Su Yi said, offering a jade bottle. “If you find it satisfactory, we can proceed from there.”
With a slight movement of its hoof, the deer’s gaze fell on the jade bottle. It took a careful look before gently lifting the bottle with a soft beam of light emanating from it. The stopper came loose, and the contents of the bottle began to emit a strange, alluring glow.
The deer’s expression immediately shifted. It shuddered involuntarily, its eyes widening as it took in the contents. “Where did you get this? Is there more?”
“We found it by chance, and that’s all,” Su Yi replied with a calm but guarded look. “This is a far more valuable item than the Dark Spirit Fruits. If you spare us in exchange, it will be as though you’ve never seen us.”
The deer’s expression grew even more thoughtful. It realized the potential value of the item Su Yi offered. Clearly, this was something far more enticing than the Dark Spirit Fruits.
