Chapter 464: Is the Chance Really Gone?
Su Yi approached Situ Muyang and handed him a healing pill. The demon beast from earlier had been immensely powerful, but what concerned Su Yi most was its elusiveness and ability to hide. While Su Yi wasn’t worried for his own safety, he had to consider the well-being of companions like Xu Jiahui.
Situ Muyang didn’t hesitate and swallowed the pill immediately. After all, his space bag was in Su Yi’s possession.
The group continued their journey, moving with heightened caution after the ambush. Zhang Qing and Liu Ji, who had previously felt completely secure with Su Yi around, now felt uneasy and were much more vigilant.
Fortunately, it seemed that the savage beast had moved on and did not reappear for the time being.
After about half an hour, Su Yi discovered a high-level spirit medicine nestled in a crevice. The herb was nearly ripe and incredibly valuable. Carefully extracting it with its roots intact, he placed it in his space bag with satisfaction.
“Whimper…”
Suddenly, a dazzling white light flashed, and a colossal creature lunged out of the shadows. Its enormous blood-red mouth opened wide, releasing a putrid stench of blood as it charged toward Su Yi, intent on swallowing him whole.
“Boom!”
Reacting instantly, Su Yi clenched his fist, his arm surging with elemental energy. The force exploded outward like a volcano, enveloping his fist in a bright crimson glow that seemed to magnify its size.
“Buzz!”
The air vibrated with the crisp sound of wind and thunder as Su Yi’s fist struck with the force of a thunderbolt. A terrifying pressure rippled through the space, like the awakening of a conqueror or the arrival of a monarch.
In an instant, Su Yi’s fist collided with the beast’s gaping blood-red mouth. The sheer power of the blow caused the surrounding air to ripple violently. A devastating force erupted within the beast’s monstrous maw.
“Bang! Bang!”
The resulting shockwave surged outward like a storm, tearing through the air with a thunderous roar. Wherever it passed, trees trembled, and the ground quaked.
Su Yi staggered slightly, taking a step back, which caused the earth beneath his feet to crack. The beast, however, was not so fortunate. It was sent sprawling backward, its massive mouth shattered, spewing a mist of blood into the air.
With a wave of his sleeve, Su Yi released a burst of Qi that isolated the blood mist, keeping it at bay.
“Splash…”
The mist dispersed, revealing the white, lifeless body of a giant python. Its once-formidable form now lay crumpled before Su Yi, its bones decayed and its blood pooling on the ground.
The sheer brutality of the scene left Zhang Qing utterly stunned, his face pale as he stared at the fallen python.
Examining the corpse, Su Yi estimated that the python had reached the fourth stage of the Demonic Spirit Realm. He recalled the intense battle and noted that, as expected, wherever there were valuable spirit medicines in the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords, there were always demon beasts standing guard. Acquiring such treasures was never easy.
“It’s a shame we can’t make use of this giant python,” Su Yi remarked.
A demon beast at the fourth stage of the Demonic Spirit Realm was an incredibly valuable resource—its meat and blood were excellent supplements. However, the area was far from safe, and Su Yi couldn’t afford to linger, especially with the possibility of encountering other strange beasts like the one that attacked earlier.
Reluctantly, Su Yi decided to take only what he could. He packed over a hundred pounds of python meat into his space bag, knowing its value and appreciating the fact that it wouldn’t spoil easily.
The group pressed onward, searching for the entrance to the dangerous place that was rumored to appear in the area.
By dusk, however, their efforts had yielded little beyond a few medicinal herbs. The entrance remained elusive.
“The entrance to the dangerous place changes frequently,” the Wolf-headed Demon Bat explained. “Its appearance varies each time, and the timing is unpredictable. Finding it isn’t something that can be forced—it depends entirely on luck.”
Su Yi frowned at the explanation, his mind heavy with thought. “Could it be that I really don’t have that kind of luck?”
Su Yi murmured, understanding that things like this depended on luck and could not be forced.
“Let’s have barbecue and search again tomorrow. If we still can’t find it, then we’ll forget about it.”
Later, Su Yi spoke again, instructing the Dark Golden Demon Falcon and the Wolf-headed Demon Bat to keep an eye out, especially around their current location. The python meat in the space bag couldn’t go to waste.
After washing and preparing the meat, they began roasting it over the fire pit. An hour later, the mouth-watering aroma of the barbecue spread for ten miles, permeating the ancient mountain range.
Situ Muyang, Zhang Qing, Xu Jiahui, and the others had become familiar with each other by now. They had long stopped with formalities and were now devouring the food eagerly.
Su Yi ate the meat ravenously, and indeed, the python flesh was incredibly delicious.
Of course, the Dark Golden Demon Falcon and the Wolf-headed Demon Bat were stationed nearby, and they were not forgotten. Su Yi threw each of them a large piece of meat, causing them to salivate and eat just as greedily.
After finishing the barbecue, Zhang Qing, Xu Jiahui, and the others sat back, satisfied, and began to refine the benefits contained in the demon beast’s flesh and blood.
Situ Muyang, still injured, started to use his energy to heal himself.
Su Yi, however, didn’t dare to relax. The demon beast that had launched a strange attack during the day kept him on edge. He remained vigilant, sitting cross-legged while using his spiritual power to closely monitor the surroundings, his soul force extending outward.
The Dark Golden Demon Falcon and the leader of the Wolf-headed Demon Bats perched high up. Its sharp pupils glimmered, scanning the area like a radar.
As time passed, several figures, shrouded in a faint glow, flickered in the ancient mountain range, emanating waves of energy.
At the Divine Sword School, many powerful figures gathered on the mountaintops, bathed in the moonlight.
“The Dark Spirit Fruits should be ripe by now. They are fortunate to have arrived just in time for the Dark Spirit Fruits to mature.”
“Yeah, we don’t know if those people will be able to get their hands on them. With dozens of Dark Spirit Fruits up for grabs, it’s probably going to be fierce competition!”
“The Wolf-headed Demon Bat guarding the Dark Spirit Fruits is not easy to deal with. Getting them won’t be simple!”
“This is all part of training. But with the strength of Liu Yunchuan and his companions, there shouldn’t be any major issues.”
“Getting the Dark Spirit Fruits will surely be their lucky break. It will give them a more solid foundation than others at the same level. Their future is limitless!”
Strong figures exuded powerful auras, their faces full of expectation as they hoped their disciples would be able to obtain the Dark Spirit Fruits.
“This time there was an unexpected incident at the Heavenly Stairs. I hope it doesn’t cause any chaos at the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords as well.”
An elder, looking senior, couldn’t help but worry. If there were problems at the Heavenly Stairs, he feared that unforeseen events might also occur in the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords.
“The Battlefield of Ten Thousand Swords will definitely not have any issues. Everything there is meant to toughen up the younger generation. I’m actually curious to see which individuals will show exceptional performance this time!”
An elder spoke, his eyes shining brightly, like stars.
“Disciples like Yun Lingfeng, Liu Yunchuan, and Gu Chenyou are destined for greatness.”
A middle-aged person added, noting that direct disciples like Yun Lingfeng and Liu Yunchuan were destined for glory, far surpassing ordinary disciples.
Though it was called the Grand Swordsmanship Competition, in reality, it was the direct disciples, like Yun Lingfeng and Liu Yunchuan, who truly captured everyone’s attention. These were the disciples that the high-ranking members of the Divine Sword School were focused on.
