Chapter 376: Bustling Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak!
But Su Yi had no other choice. The remaining empty Sword Caves were all located on the highest level of Divine Sword Cliff, requiring an astronomical number of points to enter—far beyond what the Xu Jiahui badge had accumulated.
Initially, Su Yi had hoped to encounter the remnants of the past masters of the Divine Sword School on the Divine Sword Cliff. However, his current predicament left him with no option but to chuckle wryly and accept his circumstances.
“Swoosh…”
Su Yi stepped into the light screen. As his figure disappeared within, the badge remained suspended midair, obscured from sight.
The radiance before his eyes dimmed slightly, yet his vision remained clear. Su Yi surveyed the Sword Cave, which was surprisingly spacious despite its simplicity. Other than a mottled, aged cushion, nothing else adorned the space.
The peculiar spatial arrangement within the Sword Cave lent an air of complexity to the domain.
On one of the stone walls, Su Yi noticed an engraved mural. It depicted a lone figure wielding a precious sword, exuding an aura of mystery.
The night descended like a vast, somber shroud over the ancient land.
The moonlight illuminated the sky, casting a serene glow, while the distant mountains dissolved into the embrace of darkness.
“Roarrrr…”
The earth seemed to slumber, the gentle night breeze caressing the land. In the distance, occasional roars of animals echoed faintly. On the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak, an eerie stillness prevailed.
A figure silently appeared atop the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak, moving without a sound as though materializing from thin air.
Though the figure arrived stealthily, their presence inexplicably seemed to solidify the surrounding space.
It was an elderly man with a thin, timeworn face etched with deep wrinkles. His long eyebrows and a few white whiskers floated backward, lending him an air of celestial grace.
The old man’s eyes sparkled like twin stars against the night sky. He surveyed his surroundings, and then, as though sensing something, he turned to glance behind him.
Another figure quietly appeared. This man, around sixty years of age, had serious black hair tied neatly into a bun atop his head. His silvery eyebrows gleamed under the moonlight, striking and distinctive.
The elder’s sunken eye sockets held profound, deep brown eyes that seemed to carry the weight of countless years.
“Lv Baimai, what brings you to the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak?”
The white-bearded elder’s expression immediately soured upon seeing the sudden appearance of the long-browed old man. His voice was tinged with displeasure as he addressed the intruder.
“Yu Changqing, might I ask what business brings you to the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak? Roaming around at this hour without a valid reason seems quite inappropriate for someone of your status,” Lv Baimai replied faintly, his expression equally unpleasant.
“I…”
Yu Changqing was momentarily at a loss for words.
Soon, however, a smile spread across his slender, wrinkled face. His gaze softened, and he chuckled lightly.
“I came to see Elder Su. Everyone in the Divine Sword School knows the close relationship I share with Elder Su, after all.”
“Nonsense!” Lv Baimai retorted sharply. “Everyone knows Elder Su hasn’t been at the gate recently. What’s the point of your visit here?”
Yu Changqing had barely finished his explanation when Lv Baimai launched into an uncivil tirade, his tone cold and biting.
“Do I need your approval to visit the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak? And aren’t you here in the dead of night as well?” Yu Changqing’s gaze flickered as he realized the futility of deceiving his counterpart. Dropping all pretense of politeness, his tone turned sharp.
“Haha, the two elders are here as well.”
Suddenly, another voice rang out, clear and vibrant.
As the sound fell, a figure appeared out of nowhere beside Elder Lv Baimai and Elder Yu Changqing.
This newcomer seemed much younger than the two elders. He appeared to be in his late forties or early fifties, with shining black eyes that resembled obsidian, exuding a sharp and fearless aura even under the moonlit sky. Though his gaze seemed calm, it held a predatory intensity akin to that of a bird of prey.
He was a middle-aged man with deep, strong features that radiated handsomeness and dignity, suggesting that he must have been exceptionally charming in his youth. Now, however, the passage of time had lent him an added sense of maturity and composure.
Despite his younger appearance, this middle-aged man carried a presence no less commanding than that of Elder Lv Baimai and Elder Yu Changqing.
“Shangguan Hu, what brings you to the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak?”
“Why are you here at this hour, Shangguan Hu?”
The two elders, Lv Baimai and Yu Changqing, almost simultaneously fixed their unwelcoming gazes upon Shangguan Hu as he approached, their tones brimming with shared animosity.
“I came to see if Elder Su has returned or not,” Shangguan Hu replied, his face devoid of emotion. However, his sharp gaze subtly scanned the surroundings, as though searching for something.
“Amazingly, all three elders have gathered here. What a coincidence,” a faint voice echoed. Another figure emerged from the shadows.
“Has Elder Duan also arrived?”
Upon seeing the newcomer, Shangguan Hu lifted his gaze. Though his expression subtly shifted, he maintained a polite demeanor.
An elderly woman entered the scene. Her face bore the kindness and wisdom of age, her once-black hair now silver and partially concealed. Despite her advanced years, her features remained vibrant, exuding a radiant energy.
“What brings you here, Duan Yuerong?”
“Duan Yuerong, have you come as well?”
The attitudes of Elder Lv Baimai and Elder Yu Changqing were far from welcoming as they cast indifferent glances at the old woman.
“If all of you can come, why shouldn’t I? This Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak is not your exclusive territory. That’s absurd,” Elder Duan Yuerong retorted, her displeasure evident as she observed their attitudes.
“What about Mei Huaye?”
Ignoring Duan Yuerong’s comment, Lv Baimai raised an eyebrow and continued questioning her.
“How would I know? I don’t have much of a relationship with him!” Elder Duan Yuerong snapped, her expression turning sour.
“Bad news! Mei Huaye must be trying to get ahead of us. Duan Yuerong is likely stalling us deliberately,” Yu Changqing exclaimed suddenly, as though he had uncovered a crucial detail. Without waiting for a response, his figure transformed into a bolt of lightning, darting toward a courtyard in the distance.
“Welcome, Elder Mei…”
In the courtyard, about ten outer disciples of the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak, led by Xu Jiahui, knelt reverently, their expressions trembling with awe and fear.
An old man stood before them, his appearance striking. He had a small goatee, sunken hazel eyes, and long, disheveled gray-white hair. His piercing gaze scrutinized the disciples as he asked coldly, “Who is Su Yi?”
“Um…”
Hearing his question, Xu Jiahui trembled violently. Her complexion turned deathly pale, the beauty of her fair face fading in an instant as fear gripped her heart.
