Chapter 358: The Sword Hall!
“I heard that his name is Su Yi, an outer disciple from the Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak!” a young man remarked, sharing the gossip he had overheard.
“How could someone from the outer disciples possess such talent and strength? That doesn’t seem likely!”
Some were doubtful, wondering how someone who could defeat Ba Yi could possibly be an outer disciple. They speculated, “Could he be a direct disciple of Elder Su? After all, this is Elder Su’s domain.”
“No way. How could Elder Su take in disciples? If he did, such an important event would surely be common knowledge.”
A youth shook his head in disbelief.
If Elder Su had truly taken on disciples, it would cause a stir throughout the Divine Sword School, and everyone would know about it.
At the bustling Thirty-Sixth Sword Peak, the discussions grew louder, drawing more disciples from the Divine Sword School, eager to uncover the truth.
Meanwhile, Su Yi had already arrived at a square within the Divine Sword School.
Having decided to stay for a few days and pretend to be Elder Su’s disciple, he wasn’t sure if Elder Su would punish him. As a result, Su Yi thought it would be a good idea to explore the Divine Sword School in the meantime, hoping to find some opportunities. At the very least, he could find a way to earn some rewards for himself.
The first thing that came to Su Yi’s mind when considering potential benefits was whether he could acquire martial arts and sword techniques.
As a prestigious institution in Central State, the Divine Sword School certainly possessed exceptional martial arts and sword techniques.
However, Zhang Qing’s words dashed his hopes.
The Divine Sword School comprises 72 peaks, including: Tianjian Peak, Sword-hiding Peak, Spirit Sword Peak, 15 Mysterious Sword Peaks, 18 Dao Sword Peaks, and 36 additional Sword Peaks.
The martial arts, swordsmanship, and many valuable swords of the Divine Sword School are said to be stored on Sword-hiding Peak, accessible only to qualified disciples.
To obtain martial arts and sword techniques from Sword-hiding Peak, one must exchange them using points.
Every level of martial art, swordsmanship, or cultivation resource requires corresponding points to acquire.
The higher the level and rank of the martial arts and cultivation resources, the more points are necessary.
As Su Yi wasn’t a real disciple of the Divine Sword School, he didn’t have any points.
Su Yi asked Zhang Qing if he had any points. Zhang Qing sighed in response, saying that while outer disciples received a small monthly allocation of points, it was barely enough to exchange for a decent set of martial skills at the end of the year.
Su Yi’s hopes were dashed, but Zhang Qing eventually informed him that although he couldn’t access Sword-hiding Peak, as an outer disciple of the Divine Sword School, he wouldn’t enjoy as many privileges as an inner disciple, but there would still be some guidance available within the School.
Each month, around the middle of the month, senior direct disciples of the Divine Sword School hold classes in the Sword Hall, passing on knowledge and assisting disciples with any doubts.
Both inner and outer disciples are allowed to attend these classes.
As luck would have it, today was the middle of the month.
Su Yi had a sudden idea and decided to attend the class, seeing it as an opportunity to learn more about the Divine Sword School.
The two of them dismounted from the flying demon beast. Zhang Qing scanned their surroundings eagerly and said to Su Yi, “We’re almost there. If we’re fortunate, we might even get to attend a lecture by a Law Protector. That would be a major win.”
Su Yi smiled gently, not holding too many expectations but open to whatever came.
The Sword Hall itself was a large square surrounded by a courtyard on all sides, with ample space for nearly a thousand people. Many ancient and weathered sword patterns adorned the perimeter.
Inside the square, cushions were arranged neatly. At that moment, the space was packed with people, and it was impossible to find an empty seat. Many were forced to stand in corners just to hear the lecture.
On the stone platform at the front, several young men and women stood respectfully, their faces serious.
The group of young people, some in their late twenties and others in their thirties, all had dignified appearances, bright eyes, and composed expressions. Behind them stood an elderly man, appearing to be around sixty years old.
The old man was seated cross-legged, his slim and lean figure giving the impression of an immortal. His flowing white beard and calm yet serious expression added to his majestic presence as he passionately delivered his teachings.
Below, the disciples sat in complete silence, absorbing his words. The disciples seated at the front were clearly inner disciples, judging by their attire.
Su Yi and Zhang Qing entered the Sword Hall, but no one took notice of them. Only a few senior disciples at the top glanced at them briefly before turning their attention back to the lecture.
“Oh my God, it’s an elder! I can’t believe an elder is teaching today!”
Zhang Qing, his eyes fixed on the elderly man with an almost divine presence, felt a rush of excitement. His entire body trembled as he whispered his astonishment at the rare opportunity to hear teachings from such a respected elder, an event that occurred only once a year.
Su Yi was equally surprised that the Divine Sword School’s elders taught outer disciples. He was intrigued and grew more interested in the lecture.
Su Yi watched the elderly figure in the distance, noticing the air of elegance and mastery that surrounded him. He studied the elder quietly, but there was no detectable aura or energy coming from him.
Yet, something about the figure compelled Su Yi to observe him for a little longer, and an inexplicable shiver ran through his heart.
The senior disciples standing behind the elder exuded a powerful, almost imperceptible aura.
“Above the Yuan True Realm.”
Though these senior disciples didn’t intentionally release their energy, the subtle fluctuations of their aura indicated that their cultivation must have surpassed the Yuan Spirit Realm.
Unable to find any empty seats, Su Yi and Zhang Qing quietly sat in a corner, cross-legged.
From the front, the elder’s voice rang clear and loud, easily reaching the ears of every disciple in the hall.
“Today, I will discuss the origins of martial arts. As martial artists, we should not only focus on perfecting techniques and skills but also gain an understanding of where they originated. It is said that in ancient times, there were very few humans and many wild beasts. Humanity had to remain constantly vigilant against these threats, and in doing so, over time, humans refined their physical and mental abilities, giving birth to martial arts in its earliest form.”
“Through this process, there were ancestors who dedicated themselves to martial arts, revering the path of martial arts. They became fearless warriors, able to shatter mountains with their fists, tear the sky apart with their palms, walk upon the stars, and even transcend the void!”
Upon hearing this, the disciples felt their hearts fill with yearning, their eyes sparkling with excitement. It was as though they, too, could reach the stars and break the boundaries of space.
“Martial arts boast a long history and a profound cultural heritage. From the ancient days to the present, our ancestors toiled tirelessly, refining their techniques and cultivating their skills, leading to the evolution of martial arts as we know it. Today, across the six lands, three continents, and one vast ocean, many sects and skilled cultivators excel in this ancient art.”
After a brief pause, the elder glanced at the disciples before continuing with a powerful voice, resonating throughout the hall.
