Chapter 337: The Short Old Man!
“Boom!”
Suddenly, the void quivered with an inexplicable tremor.
In that moment, Emperor Blazing Dragon’s expression shifted drastically, as though sensing something. His gaze snapped behind him, where an overwhelming aura was beginning to rise.
As Emperor Blazing Dragon turned his attention, his sight was filled with the form of Nine Lives Cat Demon, perched in the void, radiating a blinding light. An alarming aura spread outward.
At that instant, the massive form of Nine Lives Cat Demon began to expand, growing larger and larger. The light intensified, and the breath surrounding it became increasingly turbulent.
“She’s about to detonate her demonic core! This is bad… we must hurry…”
A startled cry escaped from Emperor Blazing Dragon’s mouth. His body immediately ascended, darting toward the sky in the first moments.
As soon as Emperor Blazing Dragon took flight, it transformed into its colossal form, flapping its vast wings and fleeing swiftly, as if it had just encountered the most terrifying of things, unwilling to stay even for a moment longer!
“Roar!”
The surrounding Demon Beasts recoiled in fear. The Ice Savage Wolves and other Demonic Void Realm Demon Beasts fled hastily, while the Beast Tide scattered in all directions.
“Boom…”
The body of Nine Lives Cat Demon exploded in the void, creating a deafening sound, like boundless thunder—illuminating the dawn.
A wave of energy surged out, as though countless bombs had detonated simultaneously, sending brilliant light across the sky and shaking the heavens!
“Boom boom boom boom…”
Below, the mountainous terrain fractured and cracked open. Gigantic, deep fissures spread from the rifts, stones shattered, and the sky seemed to fall apart.
“Roaring…”
A furious gust of wind swept through, like a raging hurricane, scattering in every direction. Su Yi was swept up in it and sent flying.
“I never imagined I’d be connected to a human being. I hope you can survive.”
A faint voice entered Su Yi’s ears. Simultaneously, an invisible force enveloped his entire body.
Under the immense impact, Su Yi’s nearly shattered body seemed on the verge of exploding. Blood erupted from his mouth, and a terrifying force swept through his body, eventually causing him to lose consciousness.
“Boom boom boom…”
The sky cracked open, light flashed across the heavens, and the entire Forest of Demons trembled. Mountains were destroyed, and the land was torn apart, turning into ruin.
Countless Demon Beasts were swept up and transformed into a blood mist.
But soon, all became quiet.
The sky lightened, signaling the arrival of early morning.
Deep in the forest, at the break of dawn, the sun’s rays began to shine through, enveloping the mountain peaks in mist.
The mist blanketed the area, and on top of the mountain peak, a figure sat cross-legged, emitting a faint glow from its body.
The figure appeared to be no older than eleven or twelve years.
“Whoa…”
As the first rays of sunlight emerged from the east and bathed the figure in light, its faint halo condensed. A turbulent breath was exhaled, and its eyes opened with a halo of divine light, only to quickly restrain it.
This figure was short, but its face looked elderly, appearing to be in its late sixties or early seventies. There were faint wrinkles, marks left by time. The outline of the face was well-defined, and one could vaguely tell it must have been quite handsome in youth.
The figure stood, and in the black strands of hair, about three-eighths was now white, giving it an aura of age. The figure appeared thin and small, like an eight or nine-year-old child, but it was dressed in a long robe that fit perfectly.
Standing on the peak of the mountain, the short figure gazed toward the rising sun in the east, stretching before vanishing from sight.
The mountain walls, the crags, and the distant roars of beasts echoed all around.
The tiny figure reappeared on a massive boulder, its eyes filled with confusion. It murmured, “Such a strange aura.”
After the words were spoken, the small figure closed its eyes slightly. A faint light ripple surrounded its body.
“Hiss…”
When the little old man opened his eyes once more, a light flashed, and he disappeared from his original spot.
When the short old man reappeared, he was behind a giant rock.
Behind the rock, a figure lay slumped, unconscious and possibly lifeless. His hair was scattered, and blood pooled around him.
The short old man gazed at the figure, his expression faintly puzzled. He approached, kicking the figure over to reveal a bloodied face.
Though the face was obscured by blood, it was apparent that the boy appeared around fifteen or sixteen years old. His body was covered in wounds, and he still held a broken sword tightly in his hand.
The little old man cast a brief glance and turned to leave immediately.
The unconscious boy lay motionless, deeply wounded, as if he had no breath left. It seemed as though he had already passed away.
No one saw it, but the broken sword in the boy’s hand was quietly absorbing the fresh blood from his body.
The boy’s blood spilled, and it was as if an unseen force was drawing the blood towards the broken sword, slowly absorbing it all.
Despite absorbing the blood, the broken sword remained unchanged—rusted and dull, its luster not altered in the slightest.
“Roar…”
In the distance, the growls of beasts echoed ominously.
Half an hour later, several fierce demon beasts appeared, their fangs gleaming and their fierce eyes fixed on the young man lying on the ground, unsure whether he was alive or dead. They approached him cautiously.
“Ow!”
Several demon beasts roared as they neared the young boy’s figure. Sensing something amiss, they circled warily, too fearful to approach any closer.
Finally, the leading demon beast let out a low growl. Unable to hold back any longer, it opened its massive mouth and lunged toward the boy, intent on devouring him in one bite.
“Bang…”
Without warning, the demon beast was blasted away, blood mist spraying in all directions, turning into a bloody puddle.
“Roar!”
The remaining dozen or so demon beasts roared, glaring at the figure, their fierce eyes searching for something.
A small figure appeared silently, its expression grim. It stared coldly at the remaining demon beasts.
“Wuwu…”
Suddenly, the demon beasts shuddered, wailing in terror, then fled in panic.
The short figure was the old man who had left not long ago. His eyes glanced at the boy lying on the ground, bloodied and unmoving. He crouched down to inspect him, his brow furrowing slightly.
The short old man produced a pill from his hand. He pried open the boy’s clenched jaw and placed the pill inside, whispering softly, “If you survive, then it means your life has yet to reach its end.”
A winding river flowed through the vast mountains.
Majestic mountains towered between heaven and earth.
A modest room, simple but clean and neat. The sunlight outside the window was bright and beautiful.
On the bed, the young boy lay unconscious, his eyes tightly shut.
“This boy’s injuries are severe, yet he’s still alive – a miracle indeed!”
