Chapter 321: Five Years
The Demon Woods was a haven for demon beasts, an ideal place for the likes of Golden Python and the others to hone their skills. Su Yi hoped that Chi Qin would take good care of them.
“You’re referring to the Spectral Mouse, Golden Python, White Jade Swallow Bird, and a few others, right?” Chi Qin’s eyes gleamed as he addressed Su Yi. “I’ve noticed those demon beasts. They seem quite extraordinary. Cang Lan City is currently in need of capable individuals. I’ll keep an eye on them when the time comes.”
“Thank you, Demon Emperor!” Su Yi expressed his gratitude with another respectful bow.
Su Yi was well aware of the potential of the Fire-Eyes Beast Tiger and the others. He was confident that Chi Qin would not regret offering them his protection. Without hesitation, Su Yi turned and began to leave.
“Be cautious. There have been some major disturbances in this area recently, causing quite a commotion. You’ll need to stay on high alert as you travel alone,” Chi Qin called out, reminding Su Yi to remain vigilant.
“Thank you for the warning, Demon Emperor,” Su Yi replied before departing.
As Su Yi disappeared into the distance, an elderly man in a yellow robe emerged from the shadows, gazing in the direction Su Yi had gone. His eyes glinted with curiosity, and his brows furrowed slightly.
“Big Brother, is that kid planning to run off on his own? The Divine Demonic Sect must have something important tied to him,” the old man remarked.
Chi Qin smiled faintly. “That kid isn’t running away. While humanity is often greedy, fearful, and deceitful, this one is different.”
“Big Brother, how can you be so sure? If he takes the Divine Demonic Sect’s legacy and doesn’t return, we won’t easily recover it,” the old man said skeptically.
“Rest assured. Everything he has done—the martial arts he’s cultivated, the knowledge he’s imparted to the disciples—is proof of his potential. He’ll return,” Chi Qin replied with quiet confidence, a glimmer of admiration in his eyes as he watched Su Yi’s retreating figure.
The old man nodded slowly but added with a tone of caution, “Even so, this kid is no ordinary human. At such a young age, he has achieved extraordinary cultivation. If nothing unexpected happens, it won’t be long before he becomes a formidable force among humans!”
Chi Qin’s lips curled into a faint smile. “I’m actually looking forward to it. Five years from now… I wonder how far this kid will have come.”
After bidding farewell to the Demon Emperor Chi Qin, Su Yi sought out Chi Zu.
“Brother Su Yi, are you leaving?” Chi Zu asked, surprised. He had been looking forward to another sparring match with Su Yi in the coming days to sharpen his skills.
Su Yi smiled. “I’ll be back soon, and when I return, we’ll fight again!”
Chi Zu nodded. “Alright. I also need to go out and hone my skills during this time!” Though Chi Zu had encountered the Golden Ancient Scorpion during his last outing, he knew that continuous practice was essential to growing stronger.
Su Yi then requested Chi Zu to take care of Da Bao and Xiao Ling. Although the Demon Emperor Chi Qin had promised to look after them, Su Yi knew Chi Qin was busy and might not have the time to attend to a few Demonic Spirit Realm beasts.
“Don’t worry; I’ll handle everything,” Chi Zu promised firmly.
Before leaving, Su Yi handed Chi Zu a small jade bottle containing the mysterious Spiritual Essence from the enigmatic space he had previously discovered.
“This is for you. It will greatly benefit your cultivation. When I return, I hope we can fight side by side!” Su Yi said with a smile.
Chi Zu accepted the jade bottle, sensing the extraordinary energy emanating from it. His eyes widened in astonishment. “I’m not going to be polite about this. Even though you’re human, from now on, you’re my brother!” Chi Zu declared earnestly. He knew that anything Su Yi offered was bound to be extraordinary, and the energy from the jade bottle confirmed it.
Su Yi smiled warmly before bidding Chi Zu farewell.
Later, Su Yi sought out the disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect. Most were still in seclusion, but a few children were present, training diligently.
Su Yi didn’t disturb those in seclusion—it was a brief farewell. He merely exchanged a few words with the young children before leaving.
Under the blood-red hues of the setting sun, Su Yi and Su Tian Que departed.
“Master!”
The Golden Python, Fire-Eyes Beast Tiger, Fiery Red Demonic Mink, White Jade Swallow Bird, Da Bao, and Xiao Ling watched his retreating figure with reluctance and sorrow.
In Cang Lan City, the vast expanse of the sky was painted with burning clouds.
A solitary figure and a scruffy chicken cast long shadows in the twilight, their silhouettes stretching and fading into the winding mountain path.
“Five years… I’d like to see how far you can go.”
From atop the towering mountains of Cang Lan City, Chi Qin stood, gazing into the distance with a glimmer of interest in his eyes as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Beneath the fiery glow of the setting sun, a teenage boy walked forward. Though slender in build, his posture was straight and upright. His features, though not delicate, were strikingly well-defined, exuding strength.
The boy’s skin carried a bronze hue, clear and luminous like polished jade. His eyes sparkled with a sharp brilliance. His long robe couldn’t conceal the unique aura that surrounded him.
His demeanor was a complex mix—a hint of pride, a trace of mischief, and a palpable sense of unyielding determination. This temperament seemed to radiate from within, and anyone who looked at him closely would feel an inexplicable spiritual shock.
What drew even more attention was the worn, broken sword and the large knife slung across his back. The knife rested securely in its sheath, while the sword, lacking one, was strapped together with a thin, resilient tree vine, crisscrossed over his shoulders.
Trailing behind the boy was a scruffy-looking chicken. With its stubby legs and awkwardly flapping wings, the chicken’s appearance was quite the sight to behold.
The pair—a teenage boy dressed for battle and a shabby chicken—left an unforgettable impression on anyone who saw them.
“Five years… In five years, how strong will I become?”
Gazing at the setting sun, the boy murmured to himself. A faint, wicked smile crept across his lips, and his eyes gleamed with unwavering confidence and resilience.
“How about we find a place to roast some meat first?”
The chicken spoke, its small eyes darting around as it imagined the taste of roasted meat. Its beak almost dripped with saliva.
“Would you like to end up as someone else’s roast turkey?”
The boy cast a sidelong glance at the chicken, his voice tinged with sarcasm. After all, this was the Demon Woods—roasting a demon beast would be tantamount to inviting one’s own demise.
