Chapter 318: Are You Going to Lay Eggs?!
Although the Fire-Eyes Beast Tiger and White Jade Swallow Bird had undergone significant changes after receiving their inheritance, Su Yi decided to hold off for now. He thought it might be better to wait and see if he could encounter a more suitable demon beast in the future.
For the moment, his focus was on cultivating the Hundred Transformations Step. If he could master it to perfection, it would surpass the benefits of condensing a beast form.
Determined, Su Yi immersed himself in comprehending the cultivation methods of the Hundred Transformations Step. He had already connected dozens of special *meridians on his back—essential for condensing wings. The technique required vitality to burst through these meridians, creating a revolving energy flow that would eventually form a pair of wings.
[*(in acupuncture and Chinese medicine) each of a set of pathways in the body along which vital energy is said to flow.]
This process was extremely complex and demanded an immense amount of vitality, but for Su Yi, this wasn’t a major obstacle. All he needed was time.
“Hula…”
A faint crimson light flickered behind him, as though a surge of energy was forming.
The swirling energy resembled the spinning blades of a helicopter propeller, lifting Su Yi slightly off the ground. However, his balance faltered, causing him to stagger unsteadily.
“Bang!”
Su Yi collided with a large tree, his face hitting the trunk squarely. His nose and face immediately swelled from the impact.
“No, there’s something wrong with the qi flow through the meridians!” Su Yi muttered to himself, ignoring his bruised face as he analyzed the issue.
The Yuan Qi was bursting out of dozens of acupoints and meridians on his back. It should have formed wings, but instead, it created an unstable vortex.
“Continue!”
Unfazed, Su Yi resumed his cultivation, determined to master the Hundred Transformations Step. If he could form wings, he would be able to fly—an ability that could provide a crucial advantage, whether in battle or during emergencies.
His resolve to perfect the technique grew stronger.
“If you rush, you won’t reach your goal. Losing control of your energy and forcing it will only lead to failure.”
Su Tian Que appeared, casually leaning against a tree trunk. His short, fur-covered wings rested behind his back like crossed arms. His gaze fell on Su Yi, who was repeatedly stumbling, with a mix of amusement and faint disdain.
“Do you even understand martial arts and physical techniques?” Su Yi asked as he got up, his eyes filled with hope.
“I don’t practice them myself, but I’ve seen plenty of people displaying all sorts of martial arts techniques in my memories. Ultimately, the principles are the same,” Su Tian Que replied with a knowing air, his tone filled with the gravity of a seasoned instructor.
Su Yi thought about it carefully and realized that Su Tian Que’s words made sense.
The next day, as the twilight bathed the sky in hues of red, the sunset resembled a blanket of fiery leaves falling over the hills and plains.
Under the crimson glow, Cang Lan City turned a deep shade of purple, like a colossal ancient beast resting in the vast mountain range.
As the sun dipped behind the western mountains, the evening light gradually faded, and the sky darkened.
At the summit of a distant peak, a faint red light shimmered, like a tiny flame flickering in the night. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that this light came from Su Yi.
Behind him, a pair of pale crimson wings glowed faintly. Though still immature, the wings had truly taken shape!
The translucent crimson wings, formed entirely from condensed inner energy, extended about ten feet. Thin as a cicada’s wings, they curved gracefully, radiating an elegant light.
“Hula-la-la…”
Su Yi’s body lifted off the ground as the wings flapped, stirring up clouds of dust and sending small stones flying. Gradually, he rose higher into the air.
“Success! Success!” Su Yi exclaimed, his voice brimming with excitement. For the first time, he had managed to form wings.
“Bang!”
Just three seconds later, his excitement disrupted his inner energy. Unable to react in time, Su Yi’s body plummeted to the ground, landing awkwardly.
“Haha!”
Not far away, Su Tian Que laughed heartily, almost clapping his hands.
“Are you going to lay eggs?!”
Su Yi got up and fiercely glared at Su Tian Que, though deep down he was quite happy—after all, he had succeeded.
“Only birds lay eggs!”
Su Tian Que shot Su Yi a disappointed look.
Su Yi ignored him and continued cultivating.
Now that he had finally achieved tangible results, he couldn’t afford to miss the chance to practice further.
The night passed.
As the morning sun shone down, Su Yi hovered in the air, his crimson wings fluttering slowly behind him. The wings emitted a soft glow, curving gracefully.
“Wow…”
Su Yi flapped his wings, soaring through the sky, experiencing true flight. He soared high at times, then descended low, weaving left and right like a morning bird.
“Finally, I made it!”
After a moment, Su Yi gently stirred his wings, causing his body to hover just above the ground. His eyes were filled with indescribable joy and shock.
Incredible! He could fly. It was something he had once imagined, but now it had become a reality.
“This martial art technique seems quite complex, but something still feels off…”
Su Tian Que squinted, gazing up at Su Yi from a distance. There was a hint of surprise in his eyes.
“Is it true?”
Su Yi gazed at the wings that had coalesced behind him, examining them carefully.
Though the Hundred Transformations Step had formed wings, they still had unpredictable and endless changes. Yet, there seemed to be something missing.
Su Yi thought for a moment. He had just succeeded in forming the wings, so it was likely that he still needed more practice.
At his current cultivation level—third grade of the Yuan Spirit Realm—he had already been lucky to barely cultivate the Hundred Transformations Step. It was probably impossible for him to fully unleash the true power of the Emperor Grade Body Technique.
After sitting cross-legged for a few hours to adjust his breathing, Su Yi resumed his cultivation.
With his current level of cultivation, even if he went without food for months, it wouldn’t have any significant effect.
Outside, powerful demon beasts were searching for members of the Divine Demonic Sect. While Su Yi was in Cang Lan City, this period had allowed him to pursue cultivation in peace.
During this time, Su Yi planned to cultivate some martial arts techniques that he hadn’t yet fully mastered, so he could finally succeed in perfecting them.
He had already made some progress with the Hundred Step Calculation and now planned to focus on cultivating the Three Sabres of the Raging Dragon.
At first, Su Yi had obtained both the Three Sabres of the Raging Dragon and the Thirteen Swords of the Roaring Gale.
The Three Sabres of the Raging Dragon was a General Grade martial technique of the fire attribute, while the Thirteen Swords of the Roaring Gale was a wind attribute technique that reached the Emperor Grade.
Although Su Yi possessed the wind attribute, he had initially been unable to cultivate the Thirteen Swords of the Roaring Gale.
The Thirteen Swords of the Roaring Gale required tremendous speed and power, and its cultivation demanded rigorous discipline.
