Chapter 310: Teach
“What’s the plan next? After all, this is the Demon Woods, it’s Cang Lan City. We can’t stay here forever!”
Shangguan Xi Wei raised her graceful hand, letting it rest lightly on her knee. In the distance, the occasional roars of beasts echoed through the night, mingling with the stillness like ripples across the surface of a summer lake.
“We’ll talk about it when the time comes. For now, let’s wait for this period to pass.”
Su Yi furrowed his brows, fully aware that staying here was not a long-term solution. But for now, with the disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect, there was nowhere else for them to go.
Shangguan Xi Wei looked at Su Yi intently, her clear, bright eyes seeming to ripple like waves that could draw others into their depths.
After a moment of silence, she sighed. “You’re already the leader of the Divine Demonic Sect, but Elder Hu Bu of the Hunting Tiger Tribe, Elder Xiong Liu of the Mighty Bear Tribe, and Elder Shangguan Xu all seem doubtful. I don’t know what’s on their minds. What do you plan to do?”
Su Yi smiled faintly. How could he not notice? The three elders, along with several others, remained hesitant and skeptical about his role as the new sect leader.
He understood their reservations. The Ancient Spirit Village, the Hunting Tiger Tribe, and the Mighty Bear Tribe had been rivals for thousands of years. To suddenly unite them as disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect—and to have a foreigner like Su Yi as their leader—was no small change. Adjusting to this new reality was naturally difficult for Elder Shangguan Xu, Elder Xiong Liu, Elder Hu Bu, and the rest.
“We’ll take it slow.”
Su Yi replied calmly, hoping that, with time, everyone would accept the situation.
In truth, Su Yi had no desire for the title of Sect Leader of the Divine Demonic Sect. However, having agreed to the late Lord Demon’s request and obtained the Divine Demonic Ancient Verse, he felt a responsibility to uphold his end of the bargain. Moreover, he already considered the Ancient Spirit Village his second home.
Shangguan Xi Wei said no more. She gave Su Yi a quiet glance, then sat beside him, gazing at the stars above, seemingly lost in thought.
Su Yi lay silently on the ground, hands folded behind his head, a withered blade of grass between his lips. Staring at the bright moon in the sky, his mind wandered to matters only he could ponder.
After about an hour, Shangguan Xi Wei stood up. Looking at Su Yi, who was still lying there, she smiled faintly and said softly, “You should get some rest.”
Su Yi abruptly sat up. Fixing his gaze on Shangguan Xi Wei, he said, “I need your help.”
“What is it? Feel free to ask.”
Shangguan Xi Wei looked surprised. When had this guy become so polite?
“You’re cultivating the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation, right?” Su Yi asked.
“How do you know about Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation?”
Shangguan Xi Wei was initially astonished but quickly recalled that Su Yi was now the leader of the Divine Demonic Sect and had likely gained incredible insights during his time in the Tian Yao Cave.
“I need to take a look at your Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation,” Su Yi said. He wanted to compare the version being cultivated in the Ancient Spirit Village with the one he had obtained.
“Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation is the most powerful martial art of the Ancient Spirit Village, and only those from the village are allowed to cultivate it,” Shangguan Xi Wei said with a troubled expression.
After a brief moment of hesitation, however, she continued, “But you are the Sect Leader of the Divine Demonic Sect, and this technique also belongs to the sect. I suppose I can give it to you. However, Elder Shangguan Xu is the one who safeguards the technique. If you want to cultivate it, I’ll speak to him tomorrow. It shouldn’t be a problem.”
Hearing this, Su Yi laughed. It was clear that Shangguan Xi Wei had misunderstood his intent—she thought he wanted to cultivate the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation.
“There’s no need to find Elder Shangguan Xu,” Su Yi said with a chuckle. “I just need to take a look at the incantation for the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation, and that will be enough.”
“Just the incantation?” Shangguan Xi Wei asked, slightly perplexed.
Shangguan Xi Wei was quite surprised. Typically, it is impossible to rely solely on the incantation to cultivate martial arts.
Su Yi smiled slightly, and hand seals began to form in his hands.
“Boom!”
Suddenly, a powerful aura erupted from Su Yi. A vast, ancient spiritual presence surged forth, intertwined with a faint trace of demonic energy.
“This is… the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation!”
As the aura filled the air, Shangguan Xi Wei stared at Su Yi in shock. Her eyes widened in disbelief. This was beyond incredible. The aura clearly belonged to the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation, yet it seemed to surpass the version she knew.
“I’ve been cultivating the ‘Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation’ left behind by the previous Sect Leader of the Divine Demonic Sect. I had my doubts, so I wanted to take a look at the version you’ve been practicing,” Su Yi said, restraining his aura. He calmly explained the truth to Shangguan Xi Wei. Since he had already mastered the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation, there was no longer any need for her to worry about sharing the incantation with him.
“Alright!”
Shangguan Xi Wei felt a sense of calm wash over her. If Su Yi had already been cultivating the version passed down by the previous Sect Leader, it confirmed that he truly was the rightful leader of the Divine Demonic Sect.
Without hesitation, she recited the incantation for the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation to Su Yi.
“I see!”
The moment Su Yi heard the incantation, he immediately identified the problem.
He discovered that, for unknown reasons, the version of the Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation practiced by the Ancient Spirit Village was incomplete. Some critical components were missing. This explained why, ever since he began cultivating the technique, Su Yi had sensed that something was off.
“What’s wrong? Is there a problem with our Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation?” Shangguan Xi Wei asked, noticing Su Yi’s contemplative expression.
“I remember my grandmother mentioning that there were some minor issues with the ‘Demonic Spirit Truth Interpretation,'” Shangguan Xi Wei added. “She said it seemed incomplete when it was passed down a long time ago. The same thing apparently happened to the ‘Mighty Desolate Verse’ of the Mighty Bear Tribe and the ‘Heavenly Tiger Art’ of the Hunting Tiger Tribe. No one knows why all these techniques were passed down with missing parts.”
“I see,” Su Yi said with a knowing smile, a glimmer of understanding flashing in his eyes.
Shangguan Xi Wei looked at him with mild astonishment but said nothing more.
“You should get some rest. I have something to take care of,” Su Yi said, glancing at the sky. The night had passed in the blink of an eye. Without waiting for a response, he quickly left.
As dawn broke and the first light crept over the horizon, Su Yi sought out Hu Chi.
“I need everyone from the Hunting Tiger Tribe in the Yuan Soul Realm to gather in the hall immediately,” Su Yi instructed.
Hu Chi was taken aback by Su Yi’s serious tone but nodded without hesitation.
