Chapter 308: Settle Down!
“Send the order: No one is to come here today, or they will be killed without mercy!”
With Su Yi behind him, the Black Flying Lizard gave strict instructions to several powerful demon beasts.
Su Yi, however, didn’t use the demon beasts arranged by the Black Flying Lizard. Instead, he chose to ride on the back of the White Jade Swallow Bird.
“This White Jade Swallow Bird seems very different,” remarked Shangguan Xi Wei, who, along with Shangguan Xiu, accompanied Su Yi on the bird’s back.
Having grown up around demon beasts, they immediately noticed that this White Jade Swallow Bird was far from ordinary.
Their gazes shifted to the Silver Spirit Demon Butterfly, the Spectral Mouse, Da Bao, and Xiao Ling, all of whom were perched on the White Jade Swallow Bird’s back. A hint of confusion appeared in their eyes.
Although these demon beasts didn’t possess high bloodlines, their extraordinary auras hinted at something special—something they couldn’t quite pinpoint.
Meanwhile, Su Yi sat cross-legged, eyes closed in meditation. The Flaming Beast Eagle and the White Jade Swallow Bird flew steadily, with the Silver Spirit Demon Butterfly accompanying them in the air.
The Spectral Mouse, Fiery Red Demonic Mink, Da Bao, and Xiao Ling were small enough to ride comfortably on the White Jade Swallow Bird.
However, the Fire-Eyes Beast Tiger, Golden Python, Snow Jade Ape, and Serene Void Brutal Heavenly Leopard—being massive in size and unable to fly—had no choice but to travel with Chi Qin’s demon beast team back to Cang Lan City.
…
“Is this Cang Lan City, the residence of the Demon Emperor?”
As dusk fell, the disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect finally arrived at Cang Lan City. They were awestruck by the grandeur of the sprawling city.
Having never ventured out of their sect before, they could scarcely believe their eyes at the sight of such a magnificent city.
Led by the Black Flying Lizard and the Black Ya Beast, Su Yi and the disciples were guided to a mountaintop deep within Cang Lan City.
Nestled between the mountains were simple buildings that blended with the natural surroundings.
The twilight painted the scene in hues of gold and crimson, the evening glow casting a serene veil over the mountain forest.
The area was vast, with several interconnected peaks. A small river meandered through the terrain, its water a clear, vibrant blue. Exotic flowers bloomed in abundance, their fragrance mingling with the sound of chirping birds.
In the distance, waterfalls cascaded down steep cliffs, resembling silver threads pouring from the heavens.
“What a beautiful place,” exclaimed Shangguan Xiu, her voice filled with wonder. The other girls, including Shangguan Xi Wei, nodded in agreement, marveling at the breathtaking scenery.
Shangguan Yan, Xiong Zhan, and the others were equally stunned. They hadn’t expected such natural beauty in Cang Lan City, a place ruled by demon beasts.
“The Demon Emperor has commanded that you may settle here. However, do not wander around, or you’ll face the consequences,” warned the Black Flying Lizard and the Black Ya Beast before departing.
“Is this place truly safe?”
Elders Shangguan Xu, Xiong Liu, and Hu Bu couldn’t hide their concern.
After all, they were in the heart of demon territory. Upon entering Cang Lan City, they had sensed the overwhelming presence of many powerful demons.
If Demon Emperor Chi Qin decided to act against them, they doubted they’d even have a chance to resist.
“Now that we’re here, let’s settle down. We’ll be here for some time, so let’s tidy up first,” Su Yi said, his calm demeanor reassuring the group.
Without hesitation, everyone got to work, organizing their new accommodations and making the space livable.
These mountain peaks, hidden deep within Cang Lan City, seemed to have once housed humans, as evidenced by the simple buildings left behind.
By the time they had finished tidying up, night had already fallen. For now, they had to make do with a makeshift arrangement for the night.
The next day, everyone in the courtyard began helping to build the houses.
Even three- or four-year-old children joined in. These kids, though young, were martial artists who had been cultivating since an early age.
Even at three years old, their strength was impressive; carrying bricks and stones posed no difficulty.
With so many helping hands, the work progressed quickly. In just five days, a large area of houses had been remodeled, with courtyards connected harmoniously.
During these days, no demon beasts had appeared within the vicinity.
However, the Snow Jade Ape, Fire-Eyes Beast Tiger, and Golden Python had all returned.
“Finished!”
Looking at the houses and courtyards, Su Yi felt a sense of satisfaction. The disciples now had a proper place to settle down.
Suddenly, a deafening roar pierced the air, and a nimble creature emerged from the forest. It resembled a lion and a tiger, with a robust body, a large, round head, and a red coat covered in a thin layer of dense red armor. Its golden mane draped over its shoulders and chest, exuding a sense of majesty.
It was a young demon beast from the demon clan, but even at its age, the aura emanating from its body was fierce and intimidating, carrying an air of regal authority.
“Cold Waves Golden-Red Beast!”
Gasps of astonishment rippled through the disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect.
Elders Shangguan Xu, Xiong Liu, and Hu Bu exchanged subtle glances, their expressions shifting. They had heard that the Demon Emperor of Cang Lan City was a Cold Waves Golden-Red Beast, and this young beast was undoubtedly its offspring—the one Su Yi had saved previously.
“Chi Zu!”
Su Yi’s eyes lit up as he recognized the beast. The visitor was indeed the same Cold Waves Golden-Red Beast he had rescued before.
Chi Zu was equally delighted to see Su Yi. Speaking in beast language, he said, “Human, I heard you were here, so I came to check. I didn’t expect it to be you!”
“It seems I’ll be staying here for a while. Please thank the Demon Emperor for taking me in,” Su Yi replied.
“No need for formalities. You saved my life; my father will thank you properly,” Chi Zu said warmly, expressing his gratitude once more.
Though Su Yi spoke in human language and Chi Zu in beast language, they conversed seamlessly, much to the astonishment of Elder Shangguan Xu and the others watching from a distance.
After a moment, Chi Zu’s eyes gleamed with a fiery red light. With a tone of eagerness and battle spirit, he declared, “You are strong—much stronger than I am. I want to challenge you to sharpen my skills. What do you say?”
Chi Zu was well aware of Su Yi’s strength. He knew that Su Yi had previously subdued the Golden Ancient Scorpion, a feat that proved his power. Chi Zu, eager to improve, saw Su Yi as a worthy opponent.
“This…”
Su Yi hesitated briefly before nodding. “I’ll fight you, but this isn’t the right place. Let’s move to a more suitable location.”
Although the mountain tops were spacious, Su Yi knew the extent of Chi Zu’s power. A fight here would likely destroy the newly constructed houses.
“Alright, let’s go somewhere else,” Chi Zu agreed enthusiastically, leading the way.
“I want to see the action too!” Da Bao and Xiao Ling exclaimed excitedly, eager to witness the battle.
“Master, I’d like to come as well,” said the Fiery Red Demonic Mink.
The Spectral Mouse, Serene Void Brutal Heavenly Leopard, and other demon beasts chimed in, all expressing their curiosity and desire to watch the duel between their master and the young Cold Waves Golden-Red Beast.
“Is it convenient?” Su Yi asked Chi Zu, hesitating briefly.
Since they would be staying in Cang Lan City for a while, Su Yi thought it might be beneficial for the Fiery Red Demonic Mink and the others to interact with the demon beasts in the city. Building familiarity could lead to advantages later.
