Chapter 303: The Demon Emperor, Chi Qin!
At that moment, the tall figure subtly changed his expression, scrutinizing Su Yi as though trying to uncover a hidden truth.
Suddenly, the figure’s gaze shifted to Su Tian Que, as if sensing something unusual.
“Are you the Demon Emperor of this place?”
Su Tian Que spoke, his tone calm but assertive, staring directly at the figure. He seemed completely unaffected by the oppressive aura radiating from the Demon Emperor.
The figure studied Su Tian Que for a moment before asking, “Where are you from?”
“You wouldn’t understand even if I told you. Who are you, and why did you send those demon beasts to find us?” Su Tian Que retorted. His demeanor was unfazed, his fleshy wings pressed tightly against his body. Arms crossed and head held high, he stood with a defiant posture as he stared down the towering figure.
“Others call me Chi Qin.”
Chi Qin’s piercing eyes shifted between Su Tian Que and Su Yi, observing them carefully.
“You—”
“Su Tian Que, don’t be reckless!”
Before Su Tian Que could say more, Su Yi cut him off. Bowing slightly, Su Yi addressed the figure before him. “Greetings to the Demon Emperor!”
Su Tian Que mumbled under his breath, his voice barely audible. “Demon Emperor? So what…”
Chi Qin’s gaze turned back to Su Yi. His towering figure loomed over him, standing at least two heads taller than the average man. “Are you the human who saved my child, Chi Zu?”
“Yes, it was merely a stroke of luck—nothing worth boasting about,” Su Yi replied calmly.
Though the oppressive force within his body had dissipated thanks to the Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique, the surrounding pressure remained palpable. It weighed heavily on him, yet he stood tall, refusing to falter.
“Chi Zu has told me everything. Judging by your demeanor, it seems he wasn’t lying.”
Chi Qin’s voice held an undertone of admiration as his crimson eyes briefly softened. He then continued, “Half a month ago, there was an earth-shattering battle near this region. Some demon beasts reported seeing humans fleeing the scene. That was you, wasn’t it?”
Su Yi’s heart tightened at Chi Qin’s words. Beside him, a flicker of light flashed in Su Tian Que’s limpid eyes.
“Are we exposed?” Su Yi wondered, his thoughts racing.
He recalled the annihilation of the Divine Demonic Sect’s descendants, where countless powerful figures and Demon Sages clashed in an epic battle. Su Tian Que had speculated that the shocking event would inevitably draw the attention of nearby demon beasts. It now seemed that Chi Qin had indeed ordered a search for humans in the aftermath.
Su Yi’s mind churned as he tried to deduce Chi Qin’s intentions. Why was the Demon Emperor interested in the Divine Demonic Sect?
Chi Qin observed the subtle changes in Su Yi and Su Tian Que’s expressions, his sharp eyes missing nothing. “It seems this great battle truly has something to do with you.”
Taking a deep breath, Su Yi steadied himself. He looked Chi Qin directly in the eye and said, “I won’t hide the truth. Yes, it is related to us.”
Su Tian Que moved closer to Su Yi, his eyes gleaming faintly with a crimson light. “And what about you? Are you connected to that battle as well?”
Chi Qin’s expression remained unreadable as he regarded Su Yi and Su Tian Que. His gaze shifted back and forth between the two, but his face betrayed nothing of his thoughts.
“No need to be anxious. If I wanted to kill you both, you wouldn’t be standing in front of me now,” Chi Qin said with a faint smile after a moment of silence. He continued, “I merely wish to understand why such powerful individuals have appeared in the Demon Woods, causing a great disturbance and alarming many formidable demon beasts. Everyone is curious about the cause. Can you two shed some light on this?”
Su Yi hesitated briefly before meeting Chi Qin’s gaze and nodding.
He then explained the situation regarding the Divine Demonic Sect. For years, its descendants had hidden in the Demon Woods, perpetually hunted by vengeful enemies. Most of the sect’s powerful members had been killed, leaving only a handful of young survivors.
Su Yi understood there was little reason to hide the truth. The news of the massive battle had likely already spread, and it was improbable that the existence of the Divine Demonic Sect remained a secret. Chi Qin had sought him out and likely already knew part of the story. Attempting to withhold information now would only be counterproductive. Resolving to accept his fate, Su Yi spoke candidly.
Chi Qin nodded knowingly as Su Yi finished. “I see. That battle was extraordinary, with each side consisting of formidable individuals. I wondered who could have caused such a colossal conflict, and now it makes sense—the Divine Demonic Sect is still active in this world!”
Su Yi was surprised to hear that Chi Qin already knew of the Divine Demonic Sect’s existence.
“I’ve lived for thousands of years and have come across many things,” Chi Qin said. “I’ve heard of the Divine Demonic Sect, though not much. I only know it was a major sect in ancient times.”
“Thousands of years…”
Even though Su Yi was aware of the vast differences between this world and his previous life, where some beings lived for millennia, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe. Here stood a Demon Emperor who claimed to have lived for thousands of years yet appeared to be in his prime.
“Young man,” Chi Qin said, his eyes gleaming with curiosity, “you’ve come to see me alone. What is your role in the Divine Demonic Sect?”
Su Yi met Chi Qin’s gaze and replied calmly, “To be honest, I’m the new sect leader of the Divine Demonic Sect.”
Chi Qin’s expression shifted slightly, but his interest only deepened.
Su Yi took the opportunity to ask, “Demon Emperor, why are you searching for us?”
Chi Qin smiled faintly and replied, “This news has alarmed many powerful creatures, not just me. Many formidable demon beasts are actively searching for you as we speak.”
His gaze lingered on Su Yi as he added, “It’s no wonder you dared to approach me. So young and ambitious, yet you are the Sect Leader of the Divine Demonic Sect.”
“They’re all looking for us?”
Su Yi’s heart sank at Chi Qin’s words.
It wasn’t just the Demon Emperor searching for remnants of the Divine Demonic Sect—other powerful demon beasts were on the hunt as well. Even if the sect’s survivors had managed to escape once, the perilous terrain of the Demon Woods would make it nearly impossible for them to flee much further.
Su Yi’s mood darkened. The odds were overwhelmingly against them. In this treacherous region, his strength alone wasn’t enough to protect himself, let alone the remaining disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect.
