Chapter 302: Audience With the Demon Emperor!
“Be careful,” Shangguan Xi Wei said, her face tense and filled with worry for Su Yi.
Su Yi nodded, a calm smile on his face.
“I’ll go with you,” Su Tian Que said, clenching his teeth. Watching Su Yi head off alone, he made up his mind to accompany him.
“You should stay here. You might be of help to them,” Su Yi replied, shaking his head. He knew Su Tian Que had his own mysteries, but this meeting with the Demon Emperor was too risky, and he didn’t want Su Tian Que to follow.
But Su Tian Que was resolute. “You’re the one who needs help the most, and I might be able to bluff the Demon Emperor.”
In the end, Su Yi relented, nodding his agreement. The two of them prepared to leave together.
“Lead the way,” Su Yi commanded the Black Flying Lizard.
“You can’t fly?!”
As the Black Flying Lizard spread its wings and began to lead the way, it hesitated, noticing that Su Yi and Su Tian Que were leisurely walking behind.
“I’ll admit, I haven’t reached the Yuan Void Realm yet,” Su Yi said without hesitation. He couldn’t fly freely until he reached that level; only those who had achieved the Yuan Void Realm possessed such an ability.
“You…!”
The Black Flying Lizard was at a loss for words. Walking back would take an eternity.
“Come on, you’d better truly be a friend of Lord Chi Zu, or I’ll make sure you neither live nor die!”
In the end, the Black Flying Lizard had no choice but to let Su Yi and Su Tian Que climb onto its back. For a proud Demon Void Realm beast, serving as a mount for humans was utterly humiliating. If Su Yi weren’t allegedly a friend of Lord Chi Zu, it would never have allowed this.
As they soared through the air, majestic mountains stretched endlessly below. Rolling hills and undulating forests formed a breathtaking landscape.
The sky ahead grew crowded with flying demon beasts swirling in the void, their powerful auras permeating the atmosphere.
Below, an ominous energy rose toward the heavens. Countless powerful demon beasts roared and cultivated atop towering peaks, their formidable presences illuminating the mountains.
Endless ranges stretched high into the clouds, majestic and magnificent, adorned with cascading waterfalls, winding rivers, and misty clouds. The scene resembled a stunning Chinese ink painting of mountains and rivers.
In the dense forests below, a deafening roar of Demon Beasts echoed through the area. On nearby mountaintops, brilliant light shone as Demon Beasts stood erect, exuding immense power.
Not far away, the air was thick with potent energy, as though rare ancient elixirs were hidden within the area. The scent of medicinal herbs lingered, enhancing the otherworldly atmosphere.
“Is this the Demon Woods?!”
Su Yi was deeply awestruck. Though he had spent some time in the Demon Woods, this was the first time he had witnessed its grandeur from this perspective.
“We’re almost there,” the Black Flying Lizard announced.
Su Yi looked ahead and was stunned. Before him lay a vast mountain range, veiled in clouds and mist. Perched atop the mountains was an ancient, massive city, appearing as if suspended in mid-air.
Upon closer inspection, the city was built directly into the mountain range, its colossal stone structures intricately arranged to exude a sense of timeless majesty.
The city’s towering walls enveloped multiple mountain ranges, creating a breathtaking and unparalleled spectacle.
A wide stone path extended from the enormous city to the foot of the mountain, flanked by demon beasts standing guard on both sides.
Su Yi and Su Tian Que, riding the Black Flying Lizard, bypassed the path and flew directly toward the grand city, landing only upon reaching the massive city gate.
Confronted with the ancient, towering city, Su Yi was awestruck. The sheer scale of the city was staggering. Standing beneath its colossal walls, which soared nearly a hundred meters high, he felt as insignificant as an ant. Above the city gate, three imposing characters—”Cang Lan City”—were carved into a giant stone, exuding vigor and majesty.
“Is this where the Demon Emperor resides?!”
The sight of the Demon Emperor’s dwelling shocked Su Yi. Unlike the bustling activity of human cities, this place was eerily serene, yet its grandeur surpassed anything built by humans.
Entering the city wasn’t straightforward. The gates were heavily guarded by formidable demon beasts, scrutinizing everyone who entered.
Fortunately, the Black Flying Lizard’s apparent high status smoothed the way, and Su Yi’s journey proceeded without obstacles.
Inside Cang Lan City, there weren’t many buildings. Instead, there were scenic mountains and caves scattered throughout, interspersed with magnificent palace structures crafted from colossal stones.
Eventually, the Black Flying Lizard led Su Yi to a grand hall. The atmosphere was heavy and tense, with powerful demon beasts stationed all around, their hostile gazes fixed on Su Yi.
The Black Flying Lizard excused itself to report to the Demon Emperor, warning Su Yi and Su Tian Que not to wander. “If you move around without permission, you’ll face severe consequences,” it growled before departing.
“This place is enormous and breathtaking,” Su Yi murmured, scanning the hall in awe. The grandeur of the Demon Emperor’s residence left him speechless. No wonder the Demon Emperor was revered as a legendary figure of unparalleled power.
“It’s nothing impressive,” Su Tian Que dismissed, lazily leaning against one of the hall’s massive stone columns. “Even the room I used for storing junk in my manor was better than this.”
The great hall had no furniture, not even chairs, leaving Su Tian Que without a proper place to settle.
“Yeah, right!” Su Yi retorted, accustomed to Su Tian Que’s boastful remarks. Yet, despite Su Tian Que’s lazy demeanor, there were moments—like when he singlehandedly rescued hundreds of disciples from the Divine Demonic Sect—that hinted at something extraordinary.
Still, the gap between the legendary image of a peacock and Su Tian Que’s current state was almost laughable.
“So, you’re the human who saved Chi Zu?”
The sudden voice filled the hall, and a figure appeared silently, as if materializing from thin air.
The figure was tall and commanding, with reddish skin and distinct, chiseled features. His deep, faintly glowing red eyes radiated power, while his crimson-gold robe shimmered, reflecting his magnificence.
Though he appeared no older than fifty, the figure exuded an undeniable aura of authority. His penetrating gaze seemed to strip away all pretense, leaving Su Yi feeling exposed and overwhelmed.
The moment he appeared, Su Yi’s internal Yuan Qi inexplicably froze. His heart trembled, and the air around him seemed to compress, suffocating him. That gaze—it was as if this figure could see directly into his soul.
Even Su Tian Que, who had been nonchalant moments ago, reacted. A faint gleam flashed in his once-lazy eyes.
“He’s the Demon Emperor!”
Su Yi instantly recognized the oppressive aura. That commanding presence, infused with a demonic energy, could only belong to the Demon Emperor.
Suddenly, an invisible pressure descended.
“Boom!”
Under this immense force, the Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique within Su Yi’s body activated instinctively. A majestic, destructive aura surged outward, radiating an undeniable sense of sovereignty. A faint crimson light glimmered deep within Su Yi’s eyes.
As the Supreme Chaotic Yuan Technique ran its course, the overwhelming pressure lifted instantly, allowing Su Yi to breathe more easily. Comforted by the release, Su Yi steadied himself, ready to face what was to come.
