Chapter 301: The Demon Emperor’s Command!
“Young Lord!”
Su Yi’s eyes narrowed, his expression dark and calculating. It seemed that Chi Zu’s status was indeed immense—enough to make even the Black Flying Lizard wary.
“Not long ago, Chi Zu was ambushed by a Golden Ancient Scorpion. I happened to pass by and helped Chi Zu,” Su Yi said, staring at the Black Flying Lizard. His eyes gleamed with a crimson light, exuding an imposing aura.
The Black Flying Lizard’s expression darkened. It had heard of the incident involving Chi Zu. The tale of the Golden Ancient Scorpion’s ambush had spread far and wide, enraging the Demon Emperor. How could it not know?
As it observed the human youth before it, the Black Flying Lizard grew increasingly perplexed.
This seemingly ordinary teenager carried an invisible pressure that bore down on it. The longer it faced Su Yi, the more profound the sense of intimidation became—almost as if the young man before it were a demon king rather than a mere human.
“Young Master Chi Zu was indeed ambushed by the Golden Ancient Scorpion a few days ago,” the Black Ya Beast confirmed from the ground.
The Black Flying Lizard glared at Su Yi with a mix of suspicion and hostility.
It sneered. “Human boy, you might not realize this, but it’s the Demon Emperor himself who has ordered us to capture humans. Even if you claim to have a connection with Lord Chi Zu, it won’t make a difference. And besides, how can we be sure you truly know the Lord or where you obtained his token?”
“The Demon Emperor!”
Su Yi’s gaze grew heavy. He recalled encountering demon emperors in the Demon Woods—each one a being of overwhelming power.
“Even if he’s the Demon Emperor, so what?!”
From atop the Serene Void Brutal Heavenly Leopard, Su Tian Que raised its head and puffed out its chest, its voice brimming with indignation.
“Who are you?”
The Black Flying Lizard and the Black Ya Beast, along with the other demon beasts, turned toward the source of the voice, only to find a small, bald chicken speaking in a human tongue. Shock rippled through them. Could this strange creature be a powerful demon beast from the Demonic Void Realm?
“Who am I? You’re not qualified to know! If you know what’s good for you, leave now!”
Su Tian Que stood tall with its wings spread, exuding a mighty presence.
Yet, despite its commanding words, its comical appearance undermined its authority, making its display more humorous than intimidating.
“No matter who you are, if you ally yourself with humans, you are our enemy!”
The Black Flying Lizard glared down at Su Tian Que. A peculiar aura emanating from the strange creature made it wary, though it refrained from attacking immediately.
“Why does the Demon Emperor want us?” Su Yi intervened, signaling Su Tian Que to stay silent. He knew the situation would escalate if the Black Flying Lizard decided to act.
“How can we know the Demon Emperor’s intentions? We merely follow orders!” the Black Flying Lizard replied.
The Black Ya Beast hesitated before adding, “Humans, the Demon Emperor has decreed that any humans nearby must be captured. We are here to carry out that command.”
Su Yi frowned. This location was supposed to be hidden—carefully managed and arranged by the ancestors of the Ancient Spirit Village, the Mighty Bear Tribe, and the Hunting Tiger Tribe. It had been safe for generations.
How had the demon beasts found them so quickly?
Although the arrival of hundreds of people might have drawn some attention, the speed of their discovery was alarming. Everyone had entered cautiously, yet the Demon Emperor’s order seemed to suggest that humans were being actively hunted.
“Human, regardless of your connection to Lord Chi Zu, you must come with us today. Otherwise, I won’t be so polite!”
The Black Flying Lizard’s tone was fierce, though there was a noticeable restraint when addressing Su Yi.
Su Tian Que bristled, clearly unsatisfied, and opened its mouth to retort, but Su Yi raised a hand to stop it.
Meeting the Black Flying Lizard’s gaze, Su Yi said calmly, “What if I agree to go back with you alone to meet the Demon Emperor?”
“…”
Upon hearing Su Yi’s words, everyone was horrified. For one person to go meet the Demon Emperor alone—it was tantamount to a death sentence, with little hope of returning.
The Black Flying Lizard and the Black Ya Beast were also taken aback, staring at Su Yi in bewilderment.
“You don’t even know why the Demon Emperor is looking for us. If we fight, it’ll only result in a stalemate at best. I guarantee you won’t gain any advantage!”
Su Yi feigned calmness as he spoke. “I truly am a friend of your young master, Chi Zu. Take me back with you so we can avoid unnecessary losses. If anything goes wrong, the Demon Emperor will hold me accountable, not you. I’ll take full responsibility!”
“This…!”
The Black Flying Lizard raised its brows, sensing an invisible authority emanating from the young man. This composure unsettled it.
Despite the overwhelming pressure from the situation, the teenager remained unfazed. The Black Ya Beast, equally tense, only heightened the Black Flying Lizard’s unease. Could this young man truly be a dangerous opponent disguised as an ordinary human?
“That might not be a bad idea. We can bring him back and clarify his relationship with Lord Chi Zu,” the Black Ya Beast suggested. To it, this was the best outcome—it was wary of the human before it and unwilling to escalate the situation.
“Fine, but this won’t take long. If you come with us, no one else can leave. If anyone tries to escape, there will be no mercy!”
The Black Flying Lizard nodded cautiously, wary that this might be a human trick. It immediately ordered the Black Ya Beast and the other demon beasts to block all exits, ensuring no one could slip away.
“Understood,” the Black Ya Beast agreed, relieved to avoid provoking the young man further. Its role was to ensure Su Yi reached the Demon Emperor; beyond that, it wanted no part in the outcome.
“Brother Su Yi, are you really going to face the Demon Emperor alone?”
Shangguan Yan, Xiong Zhan, Hu Chi, and the others looked at Su Yi with grave concern. Their faces were taut with worry, fearing that Su Yi’s solitary journey to meet the Demon Emperor would end in disaster.
“It’s fine. I have my own plan,” Su Yi said with a faint smile, attempting to appear calm.
But deep inside, Su Yi was just as anxious. Still, there was no other choice. If this stalemate continued, the Black Flying Lizard would undoubtedly attack, and the disciples of the Divine Demonic Sect wouldn’t stand a chance. Even the three elders wouldn’t be able to hold the line.
As for the mysterious power hidden in his secret space and the broken sword… he wasn’t sure he could count on them again. Perhaps those powers had already reached their limits or had been completely depleted.
Su Yi also wanted to understand why the Demon Emperor was searching for them. He speculated it might be related to his past assistance to Chi Zu. Judging by Chi Zu’s attitude, if Su Yi could meet him and secure his help, it would be far better than the current dire situation.
“Elders, may I have a word?”
Su Yi gestured to the three elders, and they moved aside. Lowering his voice, he spoke in a whisper. “If I don’t return after a long time… then…”
He didn’t need to finish the sentence. The three elders understood what he meant.
If Su Yi didn’t come back, it could only mean one thing: he was dead. In that case, the elders and the disciples would have no choice but to fight for their lives and escape however they could.
