Chapter 3: I Don’t Mind Crippling You
Behind Su Yi, a young man around 17 or 18 years old appeared. His stern and righteous face made him look very handsome, his head full of lush black hair. However, beneath that hair was a pair of long and narrow eyes, within which existed a sharpness that did not allow others to look down on him. There was a disturbance in the air behind his back—he was the one who ambushed Su Yi.
“Su Wei, what the hell are you doing?”
Fatty Wang, initially prepared to clench his teeth and fight with all his might, changed his expression when he saw the youth before him.
Su Yi stood up, staring at the man in front of him as his face sank slightly. The cold gleam of his blade, hidden in his sleeves, silently disappeared.
Naturally, Su Yi knew who this youth was and was very, very familiar with him. The youth’s father had been adopted by the Old Master and had taken the surname Su from a young age.
In a way, Su Wei was still Su Yi’s cousin and had shown considerable talent since childhood.
From the aura Su Wei exuded during the attack, it was clear he was already in the Yuan Soul Realm—a rare talent in the entire city.
Looking at Su Yi, Su Wei smiled slightly. That little brat had managed to dodge his attack just now.
In Su Wei’s imagination, if the brat had died at his hands, he could have made an excuse, claiming it was an unfortunate accident during sparring. Even if he were punished heavily, it would have been worth it.
After all, Su Wei was now the best among the Su Family’s younger generation—the family’s future and hope.
But seeing this jinx in front of him, still alive after three years of exile, was the last thing Su Wei wanted.
As the Su Family’s eldest grandson, Su Wei had always believed he should inherit the Su Family.
But just because his father was adopted, in the eyes of the Su Family’s older generation—even though his mother came from the Su Family and his talent far surpassed that of the jinx—his position was not equal to this troublesome relative.
Especially in the Old Master’s heart, this jinx had caused so much trouble, yet the Old Master still protected him without regard for any consequences. This showed how much the Old Master valued Su Yi.
Originally, Su Wei thought the jinx would surely die in the forest during his three-year exile. He never expected the jinx to be so lucky as to return alive.
Those three years had been the best of Su Wei’s life. Though he was already the best in his generation, the absence of Su Yi had made his position even more secure.
Because he was very clear, that once the jinx returned, his position and all he had right now in the Su Family, would slowly disappear, just like the reflection of the moon on the surface of a pond.
No matter how hard he worked in the future to help the Su Family gain something, it might eventually fall into the hands of this jinx.
How could he not burn with jealousy? To think that he, with all his talent, was still overshadowed by someone like Su Yi, who was nothing but a troublemaker in the family.
In his narrow eyes, cold rage began to emerge. But Su Wei slowly exhaled, forcing a smile back onto his face.
Facing Su Yi, he erased all traces of hate, feigned happiness, and said, “It has been three years since we last met. Little Brother Su Yi has finally returned! Surviving in that hell must mean you are destined for great fortune in the future. Seeing you again reignites my passion for sparring. It seems you’ve improved quite a bit. Please forgive me for my sudden actions!”
“Su Wei, how can that be called sparring? It’s obvious you were trying to kill him!” Fatty Wang shouted angrily.
At that moment, Su Yi adjusted his robe, raised his eyes slightly, and replied casually, “No problem.”
“Hehe, then all is good. It seems Su Bai Han went to the city gate in vain. I heard he and the others were trying to stop you there. But with your skills, you must have avoided them and entered the city ahead of time. Although it’s a bit shameful, it’s better than losing your life. Furthermore—”
Su Wei paused, his tone dripping with sarcasm that he didn’t even try to hide.
Su Wei stopped talking for a moment, he passed a smile and after a moment continued speaking, “Furthermore, Cousin Su Yi didn’t just lose his face but also the dignity of the entire Su Family. That sounds more accurate.”
Su Yi inhaled slightly. The visitor was clearly unfriendly, but if he couldn’t even handle such minor provocations, then his past life experience would go in vain. He might as well reincarnate again.
Smiling helplessly, Su Yi nonchalantly said, “You tried to kill me just now, but what a pity—you failed. If you want to become the next head of the family, that’s understandable. But you should rely on your abilities to fight for it fairly. Your actions now are not only childish but also make me angry. If you can’t compete openly, it’s sad to say you stand no chance of becoming the heir.”
Su Yi’s direct and merciless words, laced with sarcasm, challenged everything Su Wei had just said.
Su Wei’s smile gradually faded, his expression becoming unreadable.
Su Wei had anticipated that after Su Yi’s three grueling years in the Forest of Demons, he would either perish or return broken and humiliated. In the best-case scenario, Su Yi would crawl back, defeated and insignificant.
What Su Wei didn’t expect was for the so-called jinx to return, still exuding the same arrogance as before, his demeanor unshaken.
Su Wei’s face darkened, his cold eyes gleaming with hostility. “Su Yi, without the Old Master to shield you, what else do you even have? Talent? You’re nothing but trash. Everyone in the City of Man knows you’re just a jinx, clinging to the Su Family’s protection. What right do you have to stand on equal footing with me?”
“Su Wei, don’t you dare take it too far!”
Fatty Wang roared, stepping forward with an indignant glare. Yet, fear betrayed him.
He knew all too well that Su Wei was now considered the leader among the younger generation of the Su Family. Rumors whispered that Su Wei had not only completed the Foundation Building Stage but had even stepped into the Yuan Soul Realm. Compared to him, Fatty Wang knew he stood no chance.
Hearing Fatty Wang’s words, Su Wei treated it as nothing. He did not bother with him. He only followed Su Yi closely with his eyes.
“Seems that it was quite tough to have kept your grievances in you. Three years ago, when you were in front of me, your attitude was polite and respectful. When I was not around for these three years, you have become far braver.” Su Yi softly said, his face emotionless, like he did not even care about what Su Wei had just said.
But Su Yi’s words had pierced into Su Wei’s heart like a needle.
Three years ago, when he was still in the Foundation Building Stage, although the jinx in front of him was trash, with the Old Master’s backing and his position as the rightful heir of the family, Su Wei did not dare to offend him.
But it was different now. This jinx was despised by everyone. Su Wei himself had succeeded in stepping into the Yuan Soul Realm, becoming the first among his generation. He was now looked upon favorably by quite a few elders of the family.
Bloodlust began seeping into his eyes. The aura of his body stirred, and his fists clenched tightly. Su Wei wanted to kill him.
“It is Young Master Su Yi? Young Master Su Yi has returned!”
“Young Master Su Wei too!”
The commotion attracted the attention of the guards at the Su Family’s gate. Instantly, people rushed over to see what was happening.
Su Wei glanced at the side, his teeth clenched hard, and the bloodlust in his sharp eyes shifted into cold disdain.
Looking at Su Yi with a frosty expression, Su Wei said, “Su Yi, a lot has changed in these three years. You may still be alive, but you are nothing more than a useless piece of garbage. On the other hand, I am not who I was three years ago. The trouble you caused still lingers. If you are lucky, you will receive the family’s protection and live like a dog in a kennel for the rest of your life. But if you’re unlucky, then in two days, during the competition to select members of the younger generation for the Sacred Mountain’s selection test, I won’t hesitate to cripple you on the spot. At that time, no one will be able to protect you. Of course, with your abilities, let’s not even talk about having the right to step onto the stage — you wouldn’t even have the courage to!”
Having said his piece, Su Wei turned and left. Today, he had missed his chance to get rid of this trash, but there would be opportunities in the future.
“Young Master Su Wei.”
Receiving bows from the Su Family’s guards, Su Wei’s face remained grim as he ignored them.
Following Su Wei’s retreating figure with his eyes, Su Yi wore a faint grin. Without care for what Su Wei had just said, he remarked, “Honestly speaking, with your current abilities after just entering the Yuan Soul Realm, I fear you’re still not qualified to cripple me. Two days later, I’ll give you the chance you’ve been waiting for!”
Hearing the casual words behind him, Su Wei’s steps faltered slightly, his expression twisting in anger.
He had thought his warning would force the trash to keep his tail between his legs, but no—Su Yi still looked down on him as always.
“Two days later, no one can save you!”
Su Wei clenched his fist tightly, his eyes overflowing with cold light as he took strides into the Su Family’s gate.
“Young Master Su Yi, it is you!”
Several guards at the gate approached Su Yi. Their demeanor was respectful but devoid of the bows they had shown Su Wei, a stark difference in attitude.
Examining the shabby state of Su Yi, the guards’ eyes filled with contempt. The jinx had left the family with nothing, and though he had returned alive, he now looked no better than a beggar on the streets.
Su Yi noticed the disdainful gazes of the guards but merely smiled, unbothered.
“Su Yi, are you going to spar with Su Wei 2 days later? Have you also stepped into the Yuan Soul Realm?”
Fatty Wang stepped forward, his face stern and tinged with astonishment.
Fatty Wang knew that Su Yi’s talent was not even an equal to his. For these three years, he could not count how many pills and herbs he had taken, and under the supervision of his father, he did not know how much he had suffered because of training, and yet he had not even reached the Foundation Building Stage. Has this person in front of him not only managed to survive in the Forest of Demons for three years but has also succeeded in reaching the Foundation Building Stage and even stepped into the Yuan Soul Realm?
“Uuh…”
“No,” Su Yi admitted with a slight shake of his head, a hint of awkwardness flickering across his face.
Hearing that, Fatty Wang was not at all surprised. He had trained day and night for the past three years and he had not even reached the Foundation Building Stage. If this person has already stepped into the Yuan Soul Realm, then it would be too much of a blow for him to take.
