Chapter 279: Carving A Bloody Path
“To think that such evil still remains at this stage. It absolutely cannot be left unchecked!”
Very quickly, several more powerful enemies appeared, directly attacking the old clan leader of the Mighty Bear Tribe together.
At low altitude, intense fights were happening everywhere, while on the ground, the scene was even more horrific.
The villagers of the Ancient Spirit Village, the clansmen of the Hunting Tiger Tribe, and the Mighty Bear Tribe were all brutally slaughtered.
Those with low cultivation levels who could not fly were greatly outmatched, offering almost no resistance.
“Go…”
Within the Hunting Tiger Tribe and the Mighty Bear Tribe, some elders led a few weaker cultivators in an attempt to escape through the air.
“Go and die!”
Some powerful enemies pursued them with steaming killing intent, slaying them in mid-air and reducing them to a bloody mist.
Within the Ancient Spirit Village, Elder Shangguan Qing Ming was wounded and fell while gritting his teeth, attempting to seize the opportunity to lead some of the weaker cultivators of the Ancient Spirit Village through the sky.
In this sort of bloody battle, whoever could escape must escape.
“Wishful thinking!”
A powerful enemy blocked their path – a black-haired elderly man wielding a curved saber that moved like lightning, its glow slicing the sky with an aura that made it tremble. With speed like a thunderclap that left no time to react, the curved saber pierced through Elder Shangguan Qing Ming’s chest while exploding with radiance.
“Crack…”
Blood spurted from Shangguan Qing Ming’s chest as his blood-red eyes showed defiance. But after the saber’s glow erupted, his body violently exploded.
“Go and die…”
The elderly man continued his assault as his curved saber swept out with a series of strange glowing attacks that shattered the sky, forcefully slashing the few villagers of the Ancient Spirit Village that Elder Shangguan Qing Ming had been leading through the air.
“Father!”
Inside the protective glow, Shangguan Yan cried out in anguish, his eyes nearly turning black as he witnessed his father’s death in mid-air.
“Elder Qing Ming, auntie!”
Su Yi’s eyes also turned blood-red as those who were slain were all familiar faces. There was Elder Shangguan Qing Ming who had taken him in, and the aunties who had made him new clothes. A series of familiar faces suddenly flashed before his eyes.
“Let me out, let me out of here!”
Shangguan Yan was consumed by grief as he struggled to break free from the protective glow, yet he ultimately could not succeed.
“You have gone too far in your tyranny. You must pay for their lives!”
Village head Shangguan Cheng Ya appeared before the elderly man with the curved saber. Her eyes blazed with murderous intent and turbulent momentum as she gripped a treasure sword, unleashing sword glows like rushing tides.
“Extraordinary!”
The elderly man with the curved saber coldly smiled as his lightning-like saber instantly engaged Shangguan Cheng Ya in combat.
“Ah…”
People continued to fall on the ground as screams rang out while blood flowed like a river. Everywhere was stained crimson with grief.
“Quickly search for any remains of the Divine Demonic Sect!”
Within the Ancient Spirit Village, Hunting Tiger Tribe, and Mighty Bear Tribe, powerful cultivators had already turned the place into a bloodbath before rushing to search every corner.
“You heartless monsters, treating people’s lives as worthless. One day, you shall face heaven’s wrath!”
A grievously wounded elder who had fallen to the ground, unable to move, shouted with bloodshot eyes as he watched these powerful cultivators.
“Mere ants!”
These people were cold and merciless as they directly trampled over the elder’s body, crushing him.
“Check again and kill any survivors!”
Figures landed on the ground, their auras scanning the area. When they found people still alive, they immediately struck with killing blows.
“Elder!”
“Father!”
“Mother!”
Blood-curdling screams and sorrowful cries echoed everywhere.
Watching their loved ones and clansmen die before them, the survivors were consumed by grief.
These powerful enemies were too strong, completely unstoppable.
“We’ve returned. Kill!”
Suddenly, at the entrance of the ancient land, several flying beast mounts emerged with loud shouts. Atop them were many young figures.
The flying beasts carried Xiong Zhan, Xiong Lie, Hu Chi, Hu Ming, Hu Mo, and the rest of the exceptional young generation.
“Why did you return? Quickly leave!”
An elder shouted with anguish in his eyes. Initially, they had thought their clan’s hope had escaped, ensuring their bloodline would continue even if they perished. But they never expected these youths to return.
“We were born here. This is our home, how can we leave?!”
“If we fled, we would live with eternal regret!”
“How could we abandon our loved ones and go?!”
Hu Chi, Xiong Zhan, Hu Ming, Xiong Lie, and the other youths replied. During their escape, they had insisted on returning, only allowing the younger ones to continue fleeing.
“You should have left…”
An elder cried sorrowfully as these powerful cultivators were far too strong, making the youths’ return seemingly futile. However, hearing their words brought him some solace – in their youth, they too would have refused to leave.
“So many had already escaped, yet they return seeking death. Heaven itself wishes to exterminate you remaining beasts!”
A powerful and fearsome beast appeared, opening its massive blood-dripping maw as if to swallow the sky as it lunged toward the returning youths.
Hu Ming, Hu Mo, Xiong Zhan, and the others wanted to advance and retreat with their clansmen, but they were completely outmatched by these powerful enemies. They had returned only to die, too weak to make any difference.
“Foul beast. I shall face you!”
The High Elder of the Mighty Bear Tribe charged forth with his aura blazing. He initiated the 《Mighty Desolate Verse》 as ancient power surged through him while he clashed with the fearsome beast.
“Bang bang!”
However, the result was that the fearsome beast was merely pushed back while it tore off one of the High Elder’s arms, blood pouring forth.
The energy from their clash was so powerful it sent Hu Chi, Xiong Zhan, and the others’ flying beast mounts tumbling through the air.
One by one, Xiong Zhan and the rest were thrown about. As their flying beast mounts fell, they crashed harshly to the ground in miserable states.
“Overestimating your strength. Die!”
The fierce gaze of the fearsome beast made people tremble. With surging aura sweeping through the surrounding air, its claw struck down. In just two moves, it directly swallowed the High Elder into its blood-dripping maw and chewed while fresh blood spilled from between its teeth.
“High Elder!”
Xiong Zhan, Xiong Lie, and the others roared in anguish. They had never imagined these enemies could be so terrifying. Their return had caused the High Elder’s death.
“Swish…”
In the sky, a lightning-like glow pierced the air and through Shangguan Cheng Ya’s shoulder, leaving a bloody hole as fresh blood dripped, causing her to pale and stagger in the air.
Suddenly, another powerful enemy appeared – a middle-aged man wielding a brilliant long spear. Together with the elderly man with the curved saber, they surrounded Shangguan Cheng Ya from front and back.
“Grandma!”
Shangguan Xi Wei cried out in shock, her tender face turning white. She struck at the protective glow but could do nothing, completely unable to break free.
“Granny Shangguan!”
Su Yi’s eyes turned blood-red as he watched familiar figures being killed in the sky, turning into bloody rain. These attackers were fierce and ruthless demons.
Although he hadn’t lived here long, he had already come to see this place as his second home.
These familiar faces had been reduced to bloody mist. In their entire lives, they had lived peacefully with the world, yet they were brutally slaughtered by these people.
With rage and defiance threatening to explode in his chest, Su Yi clenched his fists so tightly that his fingernails dug deep into his palms.
