Chapter 27: Unexpected
Everyone knew Su Yi’s personality. No one had ever gotten the better of him since he was young. He San, Song Wu Qiu, and the rest of the people from his generation—had any of them ever escaped being bullied by him? Though Ji Chao might have come from Sacred Mountain Sect and was far stronger, when it came to who got the better of whom, everyone in the city knew in their hearts that Su Yi had never lost a battle of mockery.
Hearing Su Yi’s words, Ji Chao’s mocking expression instantly turned ugly as he stared coldly at him. Looking at Ji Chao, Su Yi’s eyes remained calm, but his posture straightened. Hostility radiated from Ji Chao as an aura gradually flowed out from him. His white clothes fluttered slightly as his icy voice travelled, “Kid, you really don’t know your place. But I’ll show you where it is very soon!”
That icy voice rippled outward through the entire plaza, making the atmosphere colder. After finishing his words, Yuan Qi burst from beneath his feet. With a stomp, he shot toward Su Yi, light black Yuan Qi gushing from his palm.
In a flash, Ji Chao raised his right arm and curved it slightly. Black Yuan Qi swirled around his fingers, converging at his fingertips. With a screech as the air tore, his arm lunged sharply toward Su Yi’s neck.
Hearing that screech, Su Yi’s eyes slightly squinted. A burst of light flashed from his feet at the same time. Stepping slightly forward, he used the Yuan Qi on the soles of his feet to generate a force of repulsion, and in an instant, his body shot backward.
“Eh?”
Seeing Su Yi’s action, though it could be considered a retreat, several people with keen eyesight recognized that what appeared to be Su Yi retreating was actually a reflex so fast it defied comprehension. This level of swift reaction was far from normal.
Ji Chao’s face fell. He had never expected Su Yi to react so quickly. His body, which had lunged forward, landed on the ground. He turned his eagle-claw hand into a palm, and the black Earth attribute Yuan Qi surged out even more violently. Bloodlust gushed from his eyes as Yuan Qi gathered in his palm, now glowing as if a layer of black light enveloped it.
“Earth Palm!”
Some youths from Sacred Mountain Sect were surprised. Ji Chao was actually using the “Earth Palm.” Coldly observing everything, Wang Quan De sneered. It looked like this was the end. With the blow from the “Earth Palm,” even if that brat Su Yi didn’t die, he would surely be crippled.
Boom!
The palm struck with a roar, and the air tore as turbulent winds swept up dust and broken stones, sending them flying into the air. At that moment, Su Yi had already lost his repulsion force, and his figure came to a halt. Feeling the powerful winds, his expression gradually turned serious.
Everything was happening faster than lightning, leaving no time for hesitation. The palm was almost upon him. Su Yi raised his arm, and Yuan Qi formed in front of his palm.
“Is he going to meet it head-on with brute force?!”
Seeing Su Yi’s action, the upper ranks of the families and the spectators present erupted in an uproar. From any perspective, if he were to meet it head-on, Su Yi would be at a severe disadvantage. This was not a smart decision.
Ji Chao sneered. Wanting to meet it head-on? This kid is courting death.
As everyone held their breath in anticipation, the palm nearly reached Su Yi’s chest. Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. In the blink of an eye, he stepped to the side, dodging in the other direction.
“Kid, you’re too slow. There’s no way you can dodge it!”
Ji Chao grinned. How could this kid still dodge? His palm just needed to shake once, and it would hit him. Su Yi avoided the blow to his chest, but Ji Chao’s attack ruthlessly landed on his left shoulder.
Boom!
A low, muffled explosion echoed. In that instant, everyone’s expression changed. Their hearts were in their mouths—after all, Su Yi was no match for Ji Chao. But at that moment, the corners of Su Yi’s mouth curved into a cold grin. With a flash of ruthlessness, he twisted his body to the right, using the massive impact on his left shoulder to his advantage.
At the same time, a cold light flashed from within Su Yi’s sleeve. He thrust his right arm out, moving faster than sound. The light streaked across Ji Chao’s face.
“Puh!”
As the palm strike landed on his face, Su Yi spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. Blown backward, he staggered for seven or eight steps before managing to stabilize himself.
Rip!
Simultaneously, a wound, a finger’s length long, extended downward from the corner of Ji Chao’s eye, fresh blood seeping out and staining the entire left side of his face.
“Ahh!”
The intense pain forced Ji Chao to clutch his face and cry out in agony. That sight astonished everyone. Initially, they had all thought Su Yi would lose, but who would have imagined it would end like this?
At that moment, they understood. Su Yi hadn’t been trying to face him head-on. Instead, he had drawn Ji Chao’s attention away, only to deliver a decisive underhanded strike in the end.
Seeing Ji Chao’s blood-stained face, everyone turned their gaze toward Su Yi. In his right hand was a blood-soaked dagger, the light reflecting off it. It was clear that Su Yi had used his dagger unexpectedly, and despite both sides being injured, he had also wounded Ji Chao.
The faces of the few youths from Sacred Mountain Sect changed greatly. They had never anticipated this outcome. Su Yi stabilized himself and slightly lifted his gaze. Looking at the wailing Ji Chao, the dagger in his hand vanished into thin air. Using his sleeve to wipe away the blood at the corner of his mouth, he said, “You have lost. If it had not been me holding back, this blade would have landed in your throat, and you would be a dead man by now!”
Su Yi’s words rippled outward, crisp and clear. The gazes of everyone turned to astonishment as they looked at the young man, blood at the corner of his mouth.
“Taking a blow from Ji Chao and still being able to stand back up… He seems to be a bit special.”
The young lady from Sacred Mountain, who appeared to be around 15 or 16 years old, seemed unconcerned about Ji Chao being injured. Instead, her attention was drawn to Su Yi, her interest clearly piqued.
“Bastard, you actually used weapons!”
Wang Quan De recovered from his daze, his face changing drastically. He never thought Su Yi would resort to such an underhanded move.
“You never said that weapons were not allowed. Is Sacred Mountain Sect unable to accept defeat?” Old Master Su Yun Tian spoke, his eyes finally showing movement. Seeing Su Yi being broad back, his expression was filled with both joy and shock.
“No, I did not lose! I have not lost yet! You rascal, I will never let you off!”
A voice filled with hatred emerged from Ji Chao’s mouth. His blood-stained face looked savage, and his eyes were brimming with bloodlust as he stared at Su Yi. As he finished speaking, black Yuan Qi gushed out of his body like fog. The aura around him erupted uncontrollably.
“Peak of the Yuan Soul Realm, almost entering the Yuan Xuan Realm!” When the aura on Ji Chao’s body exploded, the upper ranks of the major families were all shocked and couldn’t help but exclaim aloud.
