Chapter 1023: What the Hell Is Overlord Sect!
This woman appeared to be around twenty-four or twenty-five years old, and she was a customer at the shop. She was accompanied by about twenty others.
When she spoke, a man in his late twenties or early thirties next to her also looked up and glanced in Su Yi’s direction, suddenly exclaiming, “Oh!”
“He does look familiar, but I can’t quite place him.”
Not only the man and woman, but the other twenty or so people seemed to share the same impression.
Among them were two elderly men, two middle-aged adults, and the rest were younger individuals.
“I remember now, isn’t that the kid?”
Suddenly, a young man slapped his forehead and exclaimed in surprise.
“Who’s that?” someone nearby asked.
“Do you recall the wanted poster issued by Seven Star Sword Sect? Isn’t that the kid who stirred up trouble between Seven Star Sword Sect and Golden Sword Sect?” the person who spoke earlier explained.
“It seems like it really is him!”
The others, hearing this, looked at each other, their mouths hanging open in disbelief.
Their gazes focused on the young boy’s figure, as if they were staring at something monstrous.
Su Yi, walking on the street, sensed these stares and immediately turned to face them.
His gaze lingered on a few of them for a moment. Apart from the two obviously powerful old men, the young man and woman at the front caught his attention.
The man appeared to be in his mid-to-late twenties, wearing a tall hat and with a striking face. His brocade robe made him look distinguished and imposing.
The woman had an elegant demeanor, dressed in a flowing robe that accentuated her graceful silhouette. But it was her sharp, penetrating eyes that stood out the most.
She blinked at Su Yi, her lips curving into a slow smile.
The man next to her also returned a warm smile to Su Yi.
Not only them, but even the two eldest men nodded slightly in his direction.
Su Yi smiled in return and continued walking, not lingering too long.
However, Huang Jian, who was beside him, approached and said, “I recognize those two elders. They’re powerful figures from the Liuhe Sect, in the Yuan Emperor Realm. Their names are Feng Qizong and Ge Ming, and they serve as elders. They’ve come here with their disciples, likely for the alliance conference, and will stay briefly in Tiangang City.”
“The man and woman leading the group—based on their expressions and posture—are probably the twin children of the Liuhe Sect’s master, Lin Zhengyang. His son is named Lin Donghao, and his daughter is Lin Bingyao. Both are extremely talented, likely on par with Ran Jianxuan, the son of Seven Star Sword Sect.”
Thanks to Huang Jian’s explanation, Su Yi finally understood their identities.
He had been confused earlier, noticing their gazes but unable to recognize them.
Now, he realized it was probably due to the wanted poster from Seven Star Sword Sect that made the Liuhe Sect recognize him.
They had arrived in this city while passing through for the alliance meeting.
Among those twenty or so individuals, there were many younger people, all looking quite powerful, particularly Lin Donghao and Lin Bingyao, which showed just how formidable the Liuhe Sect was.
“Our small, third-rate faction has never had dealings with the Liuhe Sect. Seeing them for the first time today is quite an eye-opener.”
Su Yi thought to himself. His first impression of the Liuhe Sect was relatively positive. At least, they showed no hostility toward him. But who knows what the future holds?
They walked around the city again, but didn’t find anything noteworthy.
During their walk, they did witness a few minor skirmishes, but neither side escalated it to a deadly conflict, which left the Tiangang Sect strongman who had been observing disappointed. He muttered to himself as he departed.
“It’s about time, let’s go.”
In the end, Su Yi didn’t stay in Tiangang City for long. He left the city directly.
“Sir!”
When Su Yi and his companions arrived, several demon beasts, including the Soul Devouring Emperor, Dark Golden Demon Falcon, Wolfbat, and Blue Scaled Eagle, were already waiting outside the city.
Shortly after, Chen Chuan exited the city, looking pleased.
“What’s got you so cheerful? Did you find a Yuan Stone on the way?”
As soon as they left the city, Su Xiaoshuai jumped out of Su Yi’s arms and, noticing Chen Chuan’s bright smile, couldn’t help but ask.
It was easy to see why Su Xiaoshuai looked at him curiously. Chen Chuan’s cheerful demeanor was hard to miss, and he looked animated and excited.
“I found some rare spiritual herbs that will definitely help heal my master’s injuries.”
Without hesitation, Chen Chuan said this, but as soon as the words left his lips, he seemed to realize something and smiled at Su Yi and the others.
“Let’s go!”
Su Yi didn’t dwell on it and simply nodded.
The group mounted the Dark Golden Demon Falcon and the Wolf-headed Demon Bat and continued on their journey toward Nine Star City.
As the days passed, they continued traveling, occasionally stopping to let their demon beasts rest.
Finally, after more than ten days, they spotted a tall and magnificent city in the distance!
“Finally, we’ve arrived at Nine Star City!”
From afar, the sight of the expansive city filled them with awe and reverence.
The city was built from enormous blocks of blue stone, exuding a heavy, imposing atmosphere. At a glance, it looked like a fearsome demon beast, its presence almost tangible.
“So many people!”
Su Xiaoshuai stood on Su Yi’s shoulder and spoke in a dazed voice.
Looking outside the city walls, people were lined up, passing through the city gate one by one.
The scene was packed with people, resembling a bustling marketplace.
“There are so many people outside the city, this alliance conference must be truly lively!”
Su Yi also felt moved by the scale of the event, which reminded him of the previous Saint Martial Assembly.
Just then, a loud voice echoed from the city gate, accompanied by a powerful aura that shook the surroundings.
“All visitors must enter on foot. Those who dare to fly will be killed!”
The voice carried a murderous tone, reverberating through the sky above Nine Star City, warning everyone within earshot.
It was clear the powerful members of Nine Star Valley were establishing their rules for entering the city.
After hearing these words, Su Yi and his companions found an open space and descended from the sky, approaching the city gate.
“I hate you, big brother!”
Su Xiaoshuai protested loudly, but Su Yi quickly shoved him back into his arms, hiding his head.
Su Yi couldn’t let Su Xiaoshuai be seen here, as Nine Star City was hosting the Alliance Conference, filled with powerful individuals. If someone saw Su Xiaoshuai and recognized him, it could be problematic.
Though Su Xiaoshuai was dissatisfied with being hidden, he obediently stayed quiet in Su Yi’s arms.
“Those registered for the Alliance Conference, go to the left. Everyone else, go to the right!”
At the city gate, powerful figures shouted, their voices loud enough for the people outside to hear.
“We’re registering, so let’s head to the left!” Su Yi, accompanied by the Green Emperor, Yin-yang Dark Emperor, and Huang Jian, moved toward the left side.
“Brother Su Yi, thank you for looking out for us during the journey. I’ll head into the city to find people from the Sun Flame Sect. We may only meet again at the conference.”
Chen Chuan bowed sincerely to Su Yi.
Traveling with Su Yi had certainly been safer than going alone, and Chen Chuan was deeply grateful.
“Okay, goodbye!” Su Yi nodded, watching as Chen Chuan walked off with the Blue Scaled Eagle.
Su Yi needed to register under the name of the Overlord Sect to take part in the competition.
Chen Chuan, however, didn’t need to register. Due to his cooperation with the Sun Flame Sect, their members would register on his behalf, and he could directly participate in the preliminary selection.
“Name of the sect!”
Su Yi and the Green Emperor didn’t have to wait in line for long, as not many sects had arrived. Su Yi estimated there were only a few hundred sects.
Some sects had already registered, while others hadn’t arrived yet, making the left side of the city gate spacious and the registration area less crowded than other spots.
“Overlord Sect!” Su Yi replied to the person handling registrations.
“Alright, here’s your participation token. You’ll need it for the preliminary competition.”
The person quickly recorded “Overlord Sect” and handed Su Yi a wooden token, then added, “Remember, no private fights are allowed within Nine Star City during the competition. Anyone caught breaking this rule will be killed on the spot. So, be sure to keep a low profile.”
“Thank you!” Su Yi took the token, thanked the person, and walked through the city gate.
He wasn’t bothered by the tone of the person who spoke; after all, this was their domain, and they had the right to set the rules.
Furthermore, the ban on private fights worked in Su Yi’s favor. If trouble arose with people from sects like Seven Star Sword Sect or Golden Sword Sect, it would prevent them from ganging up on him.
“Let’s go find a place to stay.”
Su Yi led the group, planning to find a place for them to stay.
“What a ridiculous Overlord Sect. Just another sect that doesn’t know its own limits. They think they can stand out in the Alliance Conference?”
Just as Su Yi turned around, he heard mocking laughter from behind, filled with obvious scorn.
