    Chapter 502 That’s a Wrap!

Before leaving the Junlan Kempinski Hotel, Su Rui made a special trip to the rooftop to check on Qin Yueran. She had truly exhausted herself, curled up in the corner of the sofa, sleeping soundly.

Looking at her face, Su Rui had already realized that his life was about to turn a brand new page.

Since he had already made up his mind to face matters of the heart, he would handle them properly and not let himself get too tangled up over it.

    …………

Danielle Sharp was running for her life. She hadn’t slept in three days straight.

Jin Taichu and several Solar Guards clung to her like shadows, impossible to shake. Even though Danielle Sharp had switched through several different modes of transportation, she still couldn’t lose them.

Over those three days, the two sides had clashed four times. Even though Danielle’s individual combat ability was slightly above that of the Solar Guards, the Guards had been working together for years, and their seamless coordination more than made up for any gap in individual strength — and then some.

Most critically, the purple flexible sword was not on her. That alone cost her a third of her combat effectiveness. After all, in recent years, Danielle Sharp had channeled all of her offensive capabilities into training and refining her use of that sword.

Days of continuous fighting, combined with deep exhaustion, had left Danielle Sharp with old wounds still unhealed and new ones piling on top.

By now she had long since shed the pencil skirt Su Rui had specially prepared for her, having scrounged up a tracksuit from somewhere, her feet still in the flat shoes belonging to the female owner of a barbecue stall. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, but it was still somewhat disheveled.

Once the most dazzling beauty in the Western underworld, she now lay in a pitiful state inside the cargo hold of a box truck. Pressed too hard by her pursuers, she had seized a moment when Jin Taichu wasn’t watching and climbed aboard.

Danielle Sharp had no idea where this truck was headed, and she didn’t care. Wherever the destination was, as long as it shook off the people chasing her, that was enough.

Besides, right now, all she wanted was to get some sleep.

The four clashes with the Solar Guards had left Danielle Sharp on the receiving end of two palm strikes, and some nameless man had driven his fist hard into her abdomen — a complete lack of chivalry that had made Danielle Sharp spit blood on the spot.

Injuries like that, on top of three days without sleep, left Danielle Sharp feeling utterly drained, with no energy whatsoever left to fight.

The sheer pressure of survival left her no time to dwell on her sorry state. Fortunately, this box truck was carrying food — there were plenty of bottled water and bread inside, and even chocolate.

After drinking two bottles of water and eating three boxes of chocolate, Danielle Sharp felt her strength return just the tiniest bit.

Leaning back against a stack of water bottles, she took out a phone she had grabbed along the way and sent a text message to an unfamiliar number.

The message was simple — just the license plate number of the truck.

Having dared to come to China to go after the Sun God Apollo, Danielle Sharp had come prepared. The Hades Palace had long since extended its tendrils into China — an infiltration that had taken considerable time and money, and was one of Hades’s key strategic arrangements.

Under these circumstances, Danielle Sharp had already concluded that she could not escape on her own. If no one came to meet her soon, she would be certain that she would die on this eastern land before long.

“Damn Apollo, if I make it out of here, I’m going to kill you!” Danielle Sharp spat viciously, then leaned against the food crates and sank into a deep sleep amid the jolting of the truck.

People are not naturally inclined toward self-reflection. Just like Danielle Sharp at this moment — it was she who had come to assassinate Su Rui and brought this outcome upon herself, yet she placed all the blame squarely on the other party.

However, just as Danielle Sharp fell into a deep sleep, an inconspicuous little sedan was following behind. Jin Taichu, wearing a face mask, sat in the back seat, shirtless, changing the dressing on a wound on his left arm.

“Old Jin, are we just going to wait for her to recover her strength? Once she does, won’t everything we’ve done be for nothing?” The driver was a Black man wearing sunglasses, short and thin, utterly unremarkable in appearance.

Jin Taichu glanced at him sideways and said, “Black Snake, these are the boss’s orders — you can push it, but don’t kill her. Are you going to defy his orders?”

“If you ask me, just killing her outright would be the cleanest way. What is this, cat and mouse?”

The Black man nicknamed “Black Snake” grumbled with dissatisfaction.

But before he could finish, he got smacked on the head.

“Rabbit Demon, why did you hit me out of nowhere? Are you crazy?”

Black Snake rubbed his bald head, grimacing in pain.

“I hit you because your brain isn’t working. Have you never heard of using a corpse as bait to lure in reinforcements?” The one sitting in the passenger seat was a petite, pretty young woman who looked like a blend of East and West — clearly of mixed heritage. What struck people as odd was that she was cradling a snow-white rabbit in her arms, fluffy and adorable.

Dressed in a summer athletic outfit — a white fitted camisole and white shorts, topped with a white sun hat — this girl looked like a pure, sunny girl-next-door. There wasn’t the slightest trace of a killer’s aura about her.

“Using a corpse as bait to lure in reinforcements? You mean using Danielle Sharp as bait — to draw in other Hades Palace members who come to rescue her, and then we pick them off one by one? The boss is truly brilliant!” Black Snake slapped his forehead, looking like he’d just had a sudden revelation.

“But why didn’t you say so earlier?” Black Snake said. “If you had, I wouldn’t have gone in so hard. I almost slit her throat just now!”

The pretty woman codenamed “Rabbit Demon” rolled her eyes with undisguised irritation and said, “Honestly, if I had told you, could you have put on such a convincing act?”

“Still, that’s not okay — what if I’d actually gotten her killed? The boss would have come down on us for that!” Black Snake looked genuinely shaken.

The sight of this scrawny little Black man making such an aggrieved expression was honestly a bit unsettling.

Jin Taichu finished dressing his wound, bit the bandage to wrap it up, and said coldly, “Stop embarrassing yourself. You could slit Danielle Sharp’s throat? She nearly cut you in half.”

Rubbing a shallow scar on his abdomen, Black Snake grinned and said, “Didn’t she hold back too? Right at that moment, if she hadn’t pulled away, even if she could’ve cut me in half, I could’ve sliced her throat open too.”

Rabbit Demon stroked the rabbit in her arms and curled her lip. “Always finding ways to flatter yourself.”

“Rabbit Demon, I’m warning you — if you keep talking to me like that, I’ll skin that rabbit of yours and roast it right now. And besides, you’re not even a Solar Guard yet. I still outrank you by a level!” Staring at the fluffy, plump little rabbit, Black Snake wore an expression of undisguised craving. His appetite was legendary — it seemed like there was nothing he couldn’t digest, except maybe rocks, dirt, and glass.

Jin Taichu checked his watch and said, “Time’s up. Let’s find a place to rest and let the second team take over the tail.”

With this kind of relay pursuit, grinding away round after round, it would drive Danielle Sharp completely mad before long.

Black Snake yawned. “I really do want to sleep. Let’s hurry up and find a Chinese girl to share a big bed with.”

Staring at the box truck in the distance, Jin Taichu said coldly, “Before we rest, we still need to wake Danielle Sharp up. Can’t let her sleep too comfortably.”

Black Snake curled his lip. “If I were her, I’d just rather be dead.”

With that, he floored the accelerator, and the car surged forward.

This was a provincial highway with relatively light traffic, so after a few seconds of acceleration, Black Snake had already closed in on the truck.

“Hey Rabbit Demon, we’re both injured. It’s all on you to make a move now.” Black Snake said.

“Just waking her up — how hard can that be.”

With that, Rabbit Demon reached under the seat, pulled out a handgun, and fired three shots at the cargo hold of the truck ahead.

    Bang! Bang! Bang!

The bullets struck the steel body of the truck with a tremendous crash.

Especially from inside — it was sharp and piercing to the ears.

Danielle Sharp had only just fallen into a deep sleep when the gunshots jolted her awake instantly.

The truck driver heard the noise but hadn’t yet figured out what was happening. Just as he was about to slow down and pull over to check, a bullet came flying through the air and blew out his rearview mirror.

Every hair on his body stood on end.

For ordinary people in China, gunshots had always been something distant — the kind of thing that only happened in movies.

But now, an overwhelming sense of danger had completely engulfed the truck driver.

He slammed the accelerator to the floor and launched into full-on panic mode.

Danielle Sharp also sensed the danger. She forced the drowsiness from her mind, crouched low, and stood up, trying to find a suitable place to take cover inside the cargo hold.

But at that very moment, a violent surge of forward momentum threw Danielle Sharp completely off balance, sending her crashing hard into the opposite wall of the cargo hold.

Her head slammed into the side panel, and Danielle Sharp saw stars.

If Su Rui had been there, he probably would have given Jin Taichu another earful — this guy who had no concept of being gentle with a lady was rough every single time he made a move.

“Apollo, Apollo, I’m going to kill you!”

With gunshots ringing out one after another, all Danielle Sharp could do was lie flat inside the cargo hold and hurl threats.

She had only experienced three truly humiliating moments in her life: the first was when Su Rui peeked at her bathing and destroyed her clothes at the same time; the second was when Su Rui led the Solar Guards to surround and attack her; and the third was right now — battered and disheveled, fleeing in every direction, with no dignity left whatsoever.

All three times had something to do with Su Rui. How could she possibly not hate him?

In order to sever every tentacle the Hades Palace had extended into China, Su Rui had clearly gone to great lengths — and in doing so, had maxed out a beautiful woman’s hatred for him.

After emptying the entire magazine in one go, Rabbit Demon blew on the heated muzzle of the gun and said, “Job done.”

“Find somewhere to sleep. Let the second team take over.”

    Jin Taichu said coldly.
