Chapter 494
by 林方方Chapter 494 A Heavy Kiss
“What’s going on?” The sudden turn of events left everyone completely stunned!
Could it be that the earlier line maintenance was real? Were there actually serious problems with this stadium’s electrical system?
The fans looked at each other in bewilderment, completely at a loss!
Donnie Landor was standing on stage, her heartfelt singing cut off abruptly. This sudden development seemed to leave her in a daze as well!
She had been singing perfectly, only to have it cut off out of nowhere — it was enough to make anyone spit blood with frustration!
Fortunately this was just a rehearsal. If a power outage like this happened during the actual concert, the consequences would have been nothing short of catastrophic!
Su Rui’s eyes instantly darkened. Perhaps he was the only one present who immediately understood what was going on.
The stadium doors suddenly swung open, and several middle-aged men stormed in with an aggressive air, their faces full of fury!
“Everyone out, everyone out! Notice was given long ago — the stadium’s electrical system is under maintenance, and no one is allowed to use it! You people forced your way in here, and you will be held legally responsible!”
Heathway had already rushed over and said, “Who are you?”
“Who are we? We’re the Ninghai Urban Management Enforcement Brigade! We received a report that people had forced their way into the stadium and assaulted security guards — extremely serious conduct!”
“Urban Management Enforcement Brigade?” Hearing this term, Heathway paused, and the interpreter beside her quickly explained, “In China, they’re known as chengguan.”
“We’re holding a concert here tomorrow and signed an agreement in advance,” Heathway said. “As for the assault you mentioned, that’s completely untrue.”
“Whether anyone was assaulted or not isn’t for you to say. No matter what you claim, the police will be here shortly and will investigate everything thoroughly. If they don’t come, I suppose I can conduct the investigation myself!”
The chengguan captain wore sunglasses and carried himself with a cold, aloof air. He sneered and said, “I’ll be straight with you — even if you signed an agreement, it won’t do you any good. In this city, there are plenty of people who can void your agreement with a single word!”
Everything this man said oozed an indescribable arrogance, the posturing of someone trading on another’s power.
Listening to these blatantly threatening words, Heathway’s pretty face turned ice cold. “Are you just going to openly break the law like this? The agreement already specifies the compensation amount. If you don’t comply, you’ll be hit with an astronomical penalty fee!”
“The penalty fee isn’t coming out of our pockets anyway. Go after whoever you want. And let me warn you in advance — in China, the ones who owe money are the ones who call the shots. You might spend three to five years chasing it and still never see a dime!”
“Hahaha!”
The five or six chengguan officers around him burst out laughing at their captain’s words. In the vast, quiet stadium, the laughter sounded especially grating.
It seemed they had come purely to cause trouble. By whatever means necessary, they just needed to stop Donnie Landor’s concert from happening.
“You…” Heathway’s face flushed red, yet she didn’t know what to do. In a situation like this, it was like a scholar facing a soldier — reason was useless.
“Young lady, I’m only bothering to say this much to you because you’re pretty and have a nice figure. Otherwise I’d have had you all thrown out on the spot already. Count yourself lucky,” the chengguan captain said mockingly, his tone dripping with condescension.
By now, Landor’s staff and many of the fans had crowded around.
“Restore the power now!”
“This is Landor’s first concert in China — it absolutely cannot be obstructed in any way!”
“Thank goodness it’s just the rehearsal. If this had happened tomorrow night, it would’ve been a disaster!”
“What are you all shouting about? Think your voices are louder than mine?” The chengguan captain smirked coldly at the sight, pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, blew a long puff of smoke, and said, “Stop staring at me like that. You think having numbers makes you something? You have five minutes to disappear from here. Don’t blame me for being rude if you don’t!”
“You say you’re chengguan? How come I don’t see you in uniform? What can you show to prove your identity?”
Cao Tianping pushed his way to the front. This loyal, chubby fellow had long since been seething with rage!
“Whether I’m chengguan or not is none of your business to verify, and you have no right to know.”
“Even if you are chengguan, this is law enforcement breaking the law!” Cao Tianping’s spittle sprayed all over the man’s face!
Feeling his sunglasses get thoroughly coated in a fine mist of spit, the fake chengguan captain — whether the glasses were genuine or not — simply took them off and sized up Cao Tianping coldly. “Who are you?”
“I’m the president of Donnie Landor’s Ninghai fan club! We are here to defend Landor’s legal rights and ensure the concert proceeds smoothly! If you can’t produce valid evidence proving that the power outage and maintenance you mentioned are real, we are not leaving — and we will absolutely take you to court afterward!” Cao Tianping declared with righteous conviction and passionate fervor.
“It’s him! Captain, it’s him who hit me!” A security guard with a bruised and swollen face rushed forward, bowing and nodding to the chengguan captain.
Wasn’t this the very security captain who had just been swarmed by Cao Tianping and the fans?
“Is that so? Since we have a witness, take this fatty in for questioning!” The chengguan captain stood with his hands behind his back and issued the order coldly!
“Are you chengguan or police? On what grounds are you taking me away? I think you’re completely fake chengguan! Otherwise why wouldn’t you dare wear a uniform?”
Cao Tianping and two men shoved each other back and forth, scratch marks already drawn in blood on his arms. The situation on the scene was on the verge of spiraling out of control!
“Everyone stop!”
At that moment, a sharp shout rang out across the venue!
Since Su Rui and Su Chiyan had been sitting relatively far away, it had taken them some time to get there from when things started. By the time Su Rui arrived, he walked right into this scene and couldn’t help but feel a surge of fury.
He could tell at a glance that these people were absolutely not any kind of chengguan, let alone police — they were nothing but a bunch of civilians impersonating chengguan!
Because government personnel are strictly prohibited from having tattoos! Nearly every one of these fake chengguan had tattoos on them. Though they were well concealed, they couldn’t escape Su Rui’s eyes!
That sharp shout brought the slightly chaotic scene back to silence once more!
Looking at the man who had suddenly appeared in their midst, both Heathway and Donnie Landor’s eyes lit up with a gleam.
The man who had saved them time and time again had finally appeared once more today!
“Who are you?” The fake captain asked casually, wiping his sunglasses.
At this point he wasn’t paying much attention to anyone present, and his gaze kept drifting over to Donnie Landor. This woman in her sheer dress was simply too sexy and too stunning — just standing there doing nothing, she stirred in him an overwhelming desire to take her down. Of course, with so many people around, he couldn’t openly stare, and could only steal a few glances here and there, which was honestly not very satisfying.
“It’s him, it’s him — he’s the one who beat all of us security guards, and some of them still can’t walk straight!” The bruised and swollen security captain pointed the finger again. It turned out that when Su Rui had made his move earlier, this guy had been squinting and peeping the whole time and wasn’t really that badly hurt.
Su Rui turned to look at him, and the moment their eyes met, the security captain suddenly felt a tightening sensation between his legs!
“When it’s time for you to keep your mouth shut, don’t speak. Otherwise you’ll really bring upon yourself certain things that didn’t need to happen.”
Su Rui stepped forward, raised his arm, and landed a sharp, resounding slap squarely across the man’s face!
No one expected Su Rui to act so swiftly. That single slap sent the security captain staggering, stumbling back seven or eight steps before crashing heavily to the ground!
“How dare you assault someone in public! Take him away!”
The chengguan captain gave a look, signaling two of his men to quickly take control of the situation.
They were never real chengguan to begin with — they had only been claiming it verbally. Now they finally acted without any restraint!
Looking at the sinister grins of the two men beside him, Su Rui shook his head, then suddenly reached out both hands, fingers spread wide, and clamped them firmly onto the backs of the two men’s heads!
He flexed both arms, and the two men’s foreheads crashed together with an intimate thud!
The dull crack of skulls colliding sent a shudder through everyone present!
And that was Su Rui barely using any force at all. If he had put in fifty percent more strength, those two heads would have shattered on the spot!
Tossing the two men aside, Su Rui glanced at the now visibly flustered “chengguan captain,” stepped forward, and said, “Who’s your boss? Tell them to come directly. Why go through all this trouble?”
As Su Rui took that step forward, the fake captain instinctively stepped back, answering a different question entirely. “I’m warning you — assault is against the law. You’ve already committed intentional bodily harm…”
“So what if I’m intentionally hurting you?”
Su Rui couldn’t be bothered to deal with this anymore and sent a kick flying! A small-timer like this was truly beneath his notice!
The fake captain was sent flying several meters and landed on the ground, feeling like every bone in his body had been rattled loose!
The remaining “chengguan” looked at each other helplessly. Faced with Su Rui’s overwhelming dominance, they had absolutely no idea what to do. Every one of them wore a look of panic, terrified that Su Rui would come for them next!
“Are you going to get lost or not?” Su Rui barked coldly.
That voice was like a divine blessing to them. Not one of them could even manage to go back and help their captain up — they scrambled and tumbled their way out of the stadium gates!
“Does nobody give a damn whether I live or die?” The fake captain let out a furious roar and hastily fled in a sorry state as well.
“Everyone carry on with the rehearsal,” Su Rui said, watching the group leave, then turned to Donnie Landor with a smile.
However, he noticed that the expressions on everyone’s faces seemed just a little off.
“What’s wrong with you all? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Feeling so many eyes on him, Su Rui couldn’t help but touch his nose. “Do I have something on my face?”
“Something on your face? You’re absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!”
At that moment, a chubby figure squeezed out from the crowd, spread both arms and legs wide open, and launched himself straight at Su Rui!
Before Su Rui could react, Cao Tianping — that big lump — had already wrapped his arms around his head and planted kiss after kiss on him in rapid succession!
