Chapter 520
by fanqienovelChapter 520: Dragon Tooth Arena
After a dizzying spatial shift, Midi finally opened his eyes.
An immense space stretched before him.
This was the fifth level of the Shaded Realm – home to the Dragon Tooth Arena.
Two striking features distinguished this level from the four above.
First: light existed here.
The glow came from a winding magma river flowing across the floor. Its blistering heat illuminated the entire level through fiery sparks and glowing debris suspended in the air,
turning the cavern into what resembled a giant lamp-lit chamber.
Second: no visible ceiling.
The first four levels oppressed visitors with their visible rocky ceilings. Though cave ceilings varied from tens to hundreds of meters high,
they always loomed clearly overhead.
Here, when Midi gazed upward through the lava’s glow,
he found no ceiling at all.
The dome must have been kilometers above. Compared to this vastness,
the Mososbury City cavern system seemed like a molehill beside a mountain.
At the heart of this colossal space sat the Dragon Tooth Arena beside the lava river.
Twelve kilometer-high peaks formed a dragon-tooth-shaped perimeter. Each summit bore a towering Dragon Head sculpture so lifelike they seemed to breathe,
their stone gazes imperiously surveying the central arena.
Hence the name "Dragon Tooth".
A Primordial Aura seeped from the ground here,
making every visitor feel awed and insignificant. Midi also noticed the air itself felt thick with magic.
Each breath flooded his body with power without conscious Absorption.
"Perfect for cultivation," Midi immediately thought.
Higher magic density naturally boosted training speed for all. But past certain limits,
over-saturation caused magic corruption instead – why most creatures avoided this level.
But Midi wasn’t most creatures. As an Awakened One of Extraordinary Awakening needing vast magic,
he welcomed any concentration. The Dragon’s Blood White Crystal Pool in Sky City had long made him immune to corruption.
More crucially, here he could outpace even the Children of the Dragon.
Strength being relative, closing the gap mattered more than absolute level. The dense magic helped precisely because his True Dragon bloodline surpassed their Ice Dragon variants.
Those temple-trained opponents were mere pseudo-Children of the Dragon compared to his authentic heritage.
Though late in acquiring his True Dragon Heritage,
the fifth level’s magic-rich environment combined with the Primordial Aura and his Primary True Dragon Body Refinement Method would accelerate his growth beyond all rivals –
the ultimate advantage of True Dragon bloodline.
Seizing every second to train and improve through every battle!
To at least stand a fighting chance when facing the Children of the Dragon!
This was the goal Midi set for himself upon reaching the fifth level.
Meanwhile, cross-domain teleportation portals across the four regions had transported nearly all qualified teams from the fourth layer of the Shaded Realm into the Dragon Tooth Arena.
Though the mountain-divided arena was vast, the sudden influx of skilled teams quickly filled it with noise.
A thunderous voice abruptly silenced the chaos.
"Silence! All leaders must proceed to designated zones per your tokens’ instructions for inspection. Those without tokens will be executed! Disorderly conduct means expulsion! Identity verification begins now. In three days, the blood oath commences!"
The command came from a black-robed dark elf elder hovering at the arena’s center. His magic wave surpassed even the East Temple Head’s.
"That’s the Central Temple’s manager—the central temple head. The five temple heads oversee the Black Dragon Conference’s blood oath as the Shaded Realm’s highest black dragon priestesses," the Death Scorpion Family Head remarked. "I’ll guide you to Mososbury City’s assigned zone. Stay put—straying risks death."
"You’re leaving, Family Head?" Midi asked.
The Family Head shrugged. "Top faction leaders like us assist the temple heads. Manage yourselves."
Midi’s group soon reached their stepped campsite doubling as arena stands. While newcomers like Midi observed, Mososbury guards under Master Hawke efficiently erected a fortified camp with a watchtower.
Over three days, temple forces conducted layered inspections: first by the eastern temple, then cross-checks by another, finally the Central Temple’s review. None could evade this scrutiny.
Midi privately praised his choice to integrate into dark elf society rather than roam the wilderness. Even reaching Level 68 alone wouldn’t bypass these checks.
Three uneventful days later, Midi opened his eyes. "Peak-level 65." Focused cultivation had advanced him from Level 65 mastery. Still inadequate against Dragon Children, but progress.
At the arena’s heart, a pentagram magic array formed—five temple heads at the core, regional leaders like the Death Scorpion Family Head and Veyna at peripheral nodes.
As the Central temple head chanted, the arena trembled. Twelve peaks resonated, their summits blazing with light. From the glow emerged not just a Dragon Head, but a full ancient dragon’s shadow—hundred-meter body, sky-blotting wings.
"Ninth Apostle Bacal’s legend came to mind as the phantom spoke: "Followers of the Dark Dragon God! Prepare for trial!" A wingbeat unleashed hurricane winds across the arena.
When the gales ceased, every Black Dragon warrior clutched a Dragon Energy token.
