Chapter 571
by post_apiChapter 571: Cenarius’s Descendants
The atmosphere was a bit tense. Mosa spoke to the Dryad in the language of the Tauren, pointing at Jesse as she explained.
After a while of communicating in the Tauren language, the other side seemed to let down their guard a bit.
The Dryad leaped lightly down the slope to where everyone was. She wasn’t tall at all, even though she was a descendant of a Demigod. Even with the lower body of a deer, she was shorter than Jesse standing upright, let alone a Tauren.
As he looked closer, Jesse seemed to recognize this white Dryad, but couldn’t remember where he had seen her before.
Was it in the Maraudon game?
Before he could recall clearly, the Dryad, named Cavindra, spoke, "I am Cavindra, not the daughter of the forest god Cenarius. Travelers, I am the child of the Guardian Remulos. I am surprised that you recognize my bloodline. I have never seen humans before; I have only seen your kind in dreams. Have humans discovered the existence of the dream realm?"
Her lips didn’t sync with her voice when she spoke, as if she was using magic to create sound.
Cavindra glanced at Jesse for a moment, allowing Jesse to closely observe the appearance of the Dryad.
She had long, elf-like ears, thick dark blue hair that fell over her shoulders and hind legs, and fine vines wrapped around her arms, waist, and chest, like some kind of special tattoo called Natural Magic sigil.
The features under the Dryad’s hair were somewhat similar to an elf, but not very lively. Describing her as a stiff wooden figure might be too much, but Jesse felt that she indeed lacked many human emotions, just by looking at her.
Vereesa said, "Many humans and Quel’dorei mages have already discovered the existence of the dream, madam."
"It does not surprise me, child of the Sunwell," Cavindra replied.
Upon hearing the Dryad’s words, Vereesa visibly relaxed, appearing quite satisfied with the title.
Turning to Jesse, the Dryad said, "The young Natural Magic apprentice over there is trying to convince me that you are a kind human. However, I would like you to explain the source of the demonic aura on you, to avoid any misunderstanding."
"I learned some magic from another world, taught to me by an Orc from the Dark Portal," Jesse explained. "And my clothes are made of Felcloth because it is not only durable but also enhances the guiding of this magic."
Nevertheless, he could not mention having a Soul Link with a succubus, could he?
However, Cavindra seemed unconvinced by Jesse’s explanation and fell silent for a while.
At that moment, Jesse suddenly remembered the Azuresong Mageblade.
He took off the magical sword from his waist and held it up in front of him, slightly pulling out a part of it. The emanating Arcane light illuminated the faces of everyone around, producing a faint and pleasant ringing sound.
"I think this should be enough to prove…" He glanced at Vereesa beside him. Vereesa pursed her lips and nodded slightly.
Jesse continued, "This should prove that we mean no harm. I believe you should recognize what it is."
"I… have never seen it before."
Although Cavindra did not recognize the sword, she could clearly feel its pure power. She hesitated a bit when another voice came from above.
"This is a treasure of the blue dragon, sister. It holds great significance and allowing a human to possess it demonstrates the trust of the magic Guardians."
A tall creature, half human and half deer, emerged from the shadows, holding a long staff made of tree branches, and approached step by step.
As he appeared, all the Dryads looked up at him in admiration, nodding and showing their respect.
Cavindra looked at her and said, "Ah, I see now. Forgive me, Celebras, I didn’t think about that possibility at all."
The Grovekeeper named Celebras nodded slowly and said, "Therefore, since Lord Maligos’s offspring have already approved them, we don’t need to worry."
He walked up to the crowd, looked at the demon head Vereesa was holding, and said, "Hmm… This is Vyletongue. I know this demon; he has finally met his end. So, the demons are indeed trying to corrupt the entire Terramok, and those Centaur are not losing their minds and having illusions."
"Travelers, Cavindra and I have come here under our father’s orders to retrieve the soul of a noble ancient, who has been lost in this place. We hope he can return home, reunite with my father and his offspring earlier. But no matter how I call out here, I can’t hear his voice. If you return from the depths of Terramok, I hope you can describe to me what happened inside and how I can enter."
Jesse remembered him; he is the Woodland Protector in the game, leading many Dryads near the poisoned Waterfall, preventing players from entering the corrupted Song of Earthfalls.
He never found Zaetar’s soul and was corrupted by Vyletongue’s magic, lost in the caves.
It seems at this time, he hasn’t found a way to enter Maraudon, let alone being corrupted by demons.
But Jesse doesn’t think this guy can handle Theradras by entering rashly.
Since Vyletongue, who corrupted him in the game, is already dead, Celebras entering now would be much deeper than in the game, and he might be directly killed by the angry Theradras.
So, he thought for a moment and said, "If what you mean by soul is Cenarius’ son Zaetar, I felt his sorrow deep within Terramok."
When Jesse said this, Vereesa and Greed both looked over, especially Greed, who had a look on his face that seemed to say, "How the heck do you know this again?"
Celebras took a step forward, and even though Jesse sensed the Woodland Protector’s anxiousness, he remained calm as he asked, "How do you feel the sorrow in his soul, mortal?"
Jesse looked up at the creature with huge gray-brown antlers on its head, half deer and half person. Its face resembled a Night Elf, imposing yet not angry, with eyes shining like moonlight and green hair covering its body like vines.
He explained, "Perhaps because I have studied Orc dark magic, I can sense emotions in the soul. I can feel that Zaetar’s soul does not want to leave Terramok; he wants to stay here. And until Theradras’ death, his soul cannot be freed, and Desolace cannot return to its former state."
These were things Jesse knew from the game, and at Zaetar’s tomb, he could indeed feel where the soul was located. But what it all meant, he was not sure about.
Even though Jesse couldn’t explain it clearly himself, others couldn’t point out where he was wrong.
