Chapter 104: How Did He Know She Didn’t Bring a Change of Clothes!
by Ink HubSeeing Lu Jin agree so readily, Yan Mo arched an eyebrow.
“Has Senior Brother Lu always been this trusting?”
Lu Jin replied, “Not exactly. However, I trust you.”
Yan Mo smiled. “My honor.”
“That place is very dangerous, though. If you do not wish to take the risk, you can still refuse.”
“If I can help you resolve some trouble, it counts as returning a favor.”
Yan Mo frowned. “A favor?”
“A favor for the Guardian Dragon Guard is, naturally, a favor for you as well.”
Yan Mo’s heart skipped a beat. She smiled but said nothing more.
It turned out this man had already seen through her…
However, she could discern nothing else from his meaningful gaze.
Deciding not to dwell on it, she took to the air.
Lu Jin followed immediately, and the two of them soon vanished into the hazy night.
They flew west for half an hour, eventually entering a primordial forest.
Danger lurked everywhere in the dark. Nocturnal demonic beasts were out hunting; the sounds of fighting erupted occasionally, carrying far through the silent night.
“The treasure is in a place like this?”
As they descended, Yan Mo spoke up in confusion before Lu Jin could even open his mouth.
“You were unaware?” Lu Jin asked.
“Uh… haha, well, I didn’t know either… I’m just following the map…”
Yan Mo gave an embarrassed smile. “But… it shouldn’t be wrong!”
“Senior Brother Lu, follow me!”
As she spoke, Yan Mo sped off in a specific direction.
They hadn’t gone far when the sound of whistling air suddenly erupted ahead. Their expressions shifted instantly!
“Watch out!”
SWISH! SWISH!
In the darkness, several black vines resembling long serpents lashed out from the depths of the dense forest. They moved with lightning speed, accompanied by the sharp sound of piercing wind as they closed in!
“It’s Murderous Vines!”
Before Lu Jin’s voice could fade, he had already charged forward. His spiritual energy transformed into several sharp swords, hacking down at the vines.
CLANG!
The moment the spiritual swords collided with the vines, a crisp sound of clashing metal rang out!
SWISH! SWISH!
At that moment, more sounds of whistling wind came from the dark forest. Before Lu Jin could finish off the vines in front of him, a dense mass of vines from below rose like black snakes, rushing toward them in a dark tide!
“So many!”
Yan Mo’s face paled. She clearly hadn’t expected such a massive colony of Murderous Vines to exist here!
“Retreat!”
Lu Jin was also startled. His Spiritual Force swept out, discovering that this massive swarm was only a small portion of the Murderous Vines below!
It was a sea of vines!
If they didn’t leave now, they would likely capsize in this small pond!
SHOO! SHOO! SHOO!
The two did not hesitate, rushing back the way they came.
However, the speed of the vines was incredibly fast. Furthermore, they could extend for thousands of zhang. They shot forward, forming a dense black net that shrouded them from above in an instant!
Vines wove a cage from all directions and overhead. The two were trapped inside, unable to discern their direction for a moment!
“These Murderous Vines have practically become spirits! It’s as if they predicted our escape route!”
Yan Mo looked nervous as she turned to Lu Jin.
“Senior Brother Lu, what do we do now?”
Lu Jin frowned, and dragon-patterned defenses began to shimmer around his body.
“These vines are too tough. Even if we hack at them continuously, we likely won’t be able to clear them all. Besides, look, the ones I cut are growing back almost instantly…”
Lu Jin hadn’t expected to fall into such a predicament right at the start.
As the net formed by the Murderous Vines rapidly tightened, compressing their space, Yan Mo grew even more alarmed.
“Then what? Senior Brother Lu, this is all my fault… Get behind me, I’ll break through first!”
As she spoke, Yan Mo actually took a step forward to stand in front of Lu Jin.
But they were surrounded on all sides. Lu Jin smiled; as his Spiritual Force spread out, he had already found a spot where the aura of the vines was weak.
“Go!”
He grabbed Yan Mo’s arm, practically dragging her downward.
The vines converged from above, but Lu Jin pulled Yan Mo straight toward the depths of the forest below. In a flash, they vanished into the darkness.
ZING! ZING! ZING!
The Hell-Suppressing Sinfire Sword condensed in front of Lu Jin, stabbing forward. Everywhere it passed, vines were severed, spraying juice like falling rain.
They maneuvered beneath the massive vines. Above them, the vast quantity of vines became entangled with each other, twisting into a chaotic mess that slowed down their pursuit.
“Where is the treasure?” Lu Jin asked urgently.
Yan Mo was being pulled along by a large hand. Her original anxiety eased slightly due to the great strength transmitted through his arm. This feeling of being protected was actually quite nice.
Hearing Lu Jin’s question, she finally snapped out of it, stammering.
“Senior Brother Lu, I actually… only know the general location. It’s up ahead. There might… probably… maybe… be a cliff over there…”
Lu Jin was somewhat speechless, hearing this. However, his speed did not decrease; in fact, he went faster and faster!
“It’s just ahead…”
His Spiritual Force sensed the sound of rushing water a thousand zhang away. The two charged out, quickly leaving the territory of the Murderous Vines.
But as the view ahead opened up, they saw that the entire cliff was covered in dense, tangled vines. They coiled like dragons and snakes, trembling the moment the duo appeared!
“We can’t go up, we can only go down!”
Below was a stretch of turbulent water. To the side was a waterfall cascading from the heavens, the massive volume of water letting out a roar like a primordial beast.
“Jump!”
SWISH!
Seeing the countless vines on the cliff sweep toward them, blotting out the sky and moon, the two leaped into the deep pool beneath the waterfall!
The water masked their aura. After a period of trembling, the Murderous Vines above returned to tranquility.
Meanwhile, the two in the water were buffeted by the surging waves, carried along until they flowed into an underground river!
It was pitch black, with only the thunderous roar of water echoing in their ears. Lu Jin did not let go of Yan Mo’s hand until they washed out of the current onto a large stalactite at the edge.
In the space beneath the underground river, a layer of colorful glowing insects drifted like a ribbon of light, extending around a corner.
By this colorful luminescence, Lu Jin saw Yan Mo’s sodden hair and clothes. They clung tightly to her body, outlining her exquisite and graceful figure to perfection.
“Senior Brother Lu, the map said it’s here! At the lower reaches of this underground river, we’ll probably have to dive down for another stretch.”
Yan Mo didn’t seem to notice her current appearance. She opened the map and analyzed it with confidence, looking very serious.
Lu Jin turned his head away, only nodding as he said, “Since we still have to go down, let’s move quickly. Activate your protective barrier, otherwise I’m afraid you didn’t bring enough clothes to change into.”
Yan Mo nodded calmly.
But when she saw Lu Jin turn his back to her, her pretty face immediately twisted into an expression of utter embarrassment.
*How did he know I didn’t bring a change of clothes!*
