Ye Wushuang was cautious as he observed the newcomers. To his surprise, their expressions changed from neutral to delighted upon seeing him.

“Ah!”

“It’s you!”

“Ye Wushuang!”

The group of six people, clearly led by three individuals, approached him. Ye Wushuang, however, remained on guard, his voice calm as he asked, “Who are you?”

The three leaders were taken aback by his wary demeanor, especially given the bloodstains on his clothes. The tallest among them, a burly young man with a genial face, quickly produced a token and said with a smile, “We are warriors from Lingjian Mountain.”

Ye Wushuang extended his hand. The young man hesitated for a moment, then tossed the token to him with a laugh. Tokens like these were unique to each faction and were infused with the soul energy of their bearers, making them impossible to forge. After a thorough inspection, Ye Wushuang returned the token to the burly young man.

“My name is Jia Tiancai,” the young man said with a smile. “You don’t need to be so tense. The mountain masters have all given orders: if we encounter you, we are to assist you in any way we can.”

“Thank you,” Ye Wushuang replied, sheathing his Tianyan Sword.

The woman standing to Jia Tiancai’s left, who had been eyeing Ye Wushuang with concern, asked, “You’re covered in blood. Are you alright?”

Ye Wushuang glanced at the corpses of the spiritual beasts nearby and laughed, “That’s their blood.”

Jia Tiancai then explained, “We were just passing through, on our way to Tianlin Ancient City, when we ran into you.”

“Tianlin Ancient City?” Ye Wushuang’s curiosity was piqued.

Jia Tiancai nodded. “This isn’t the place for a conversation. Let’s find somewhere to rest and talk properly.”

“Alright.”

In a short while, the group arrived at the foot of a mountain in the forest and stopped. The other three members of the group took up positions around the perimeter to keep watch, while Jia Tiancai and his companions sat down with Ye Wushuang. The woman who had shown concern for Ye Wushuang earlier took out a pot, some dried meat, and began to prepare a meat broth. Soon, the four of them sat around a campfire, the aroma of the broth wafting through the air.

The woman carefully ladled a bowl of soup and handed it to Ye Wushuang with a smile, “Have some soup.”

“Thank you,” Ye Wushuang replied.

Jia Tiancai then introduced his companions. “This is Yun Yin, a ninth-rank Tian Gang warrior and currently an outer sect steward of Lingjian Mountain.”

He pointed to a thinner man beside him. “This is Gongyang Yan, also an outer sect steward and a ninth-rank Tian Gang warrior.”

Gongyang Yan nodded at Ye Wushuang with a smile.

Jia Tiancai scratched his head and continued, “I was also a ninth-rank Tian Gang warrior, but I recently broke through to the Myriad Laws realm here in the Heavenly and Earthly Gates… Of course, I can’t compare to you core disciples.”

The core disciples of Lingjian Mountain were all under twenty-five years old and had already reached the Myriad Laws realm. Some, like Qin Muyu, Li Wenqing, Ji Ou, and Mu Zili, had surpassed the first level of the Myriad Laws realm. Ye Wushuang and Qing Shiyu had both reached the Myriad Laws realm at the age of seventeen, which was even more astonishing.

Jia Tiancai, Yun Yin, and Gongyang Yan were all in their late twenties, several years older than the core disciples. The difference of just four or five years seemed insignificant, but it highlighted the gap between ordinary warriors and exceptional talents.

Ye Wushuang said with a smile, “Actually, reaching the Myriad Laws realm or the peak of Tian Gang before thirty is quite impressive.”

The three of them couldn’t help but smile. They knew they were not bad, but the comparison to Ye Wushuang, who had reached the Myriad Laws realm at seventeen, was humbling.

Yun Yin laughed and said, “I’m ten years older than you, and I’m still only at the Tian Gang realm while you’re at the Myriad Laws realm.”

The age difference was significant. It was hard to imagine where Ye Wushuang would be in another ten years. Would he become a pillar of Lingjian Mountain like Master Siyin?

As they sat and chatted, Ye Wushuang noticed the different personalities of the three. Jia Tiancai was genial and respectful. Yun Yin was gentle and meticulous, her eyes filled with curiosity as she looked at Ye Wushuang. Gongyang Yan was quiet, content to listen without much input.

Despite their differences, all three treated Ye Wushuang with great respect. Ye Wushuang knew that before departing, Master Siyin had given clear orders to all the warriors of Lingjian Mountain: to protect Ye Wushuang at all costs. This was a direct command, and Master Siyin had always been straightforward in her actions. As the leader of Lingjian Mountain, her status among the warriors was extremely high, and her care for Ye Wushuang had instilled a deep sense of duty to protect him in their hearts.

After some time, Ye Wushuang finally asked, “What did you mean earlier, Jia brother, about Tianlin Ancient City?”
