Ignoring her, Ye Wushuang released her hand and walked over to the cold pool, where he set up a campfire. He took out the snake meat from the night before and began to roast it slowly.

Before long, the aroma of the roasting meat wafted through the air.

Having journeyed through countless mountains and forests on his path to becoming the Emperor of Heaven, Ye Wushuang had naturally become adept at surviving in the wild. He had tasted not only the flesh of the Azure-Striped Snake but even that of dragons. His skill in barbecuing was truly masterful.

The woman, dressed in Ye Wushuang’s clothes which were slightly too large for her, sat a short distance away, yet her impressive figure was still evident. At that moment, her eyes watched as Ye Wushuang ate the roasted meat and drank water, but she stubbornly refused to approach.

“If you’re hungry, come over,” Ye Wushuang said.

“I’m not hungry!” the woman retorted stubbornly.

“Is that so?” Ye Wushuang glanced at her and said slowly, “But the growling of your stomach is disturbing my meal!”

The woman’s face turned red, and she hesitated before finally sitting down beside Ye Wushuang and taking the roasted meat he offered.

At first, she tried to maintain her composure, but after a few bites, she couldn’t help herself and began to eat voraciously, without any concern for her image.

“Cough, cough…”

“Here, have some water!”

Ye Wushuang smiled helplessly.

The woman took the water, not caring that it had been drunk from by Ye Wushuang, and drank it straight from the container, taking large gulps.

As she ate, she urged Ye Wushuang, “Hurry up and roast some more…”

After skewering more meat and starting to roast it again, the woman finally said, “I was wrong just now, and I apologize.”

“I’ve been on the run for over ten days, so I was a bit more cautious. I just suspected that you might be with the people who were chasing me.”

Seeing that Ye Wushuang remained silent, she continued, “My name is Qing Shiyu. I’m from Qingyun Empire’s capital, Qingtian City. What about you?”

“Ye Wushuang,” he replied casually.

“Master Ye, I can’t thank you enough for saving my life. If you ever come to the capital and run into any trouble, you can count on me.”

“Count on you?” Ye Wushuang immediately said, “I’m afraid you might still try to kill me with a sword!”

Qing Shiyu’s face turned slightly red, making her look rather adorable. She seemed to be only a year or two older than him. Though she appeared cold and distant, her nature was actually quite kind.

“Why were you being chased?” Ye Wushuang asked.

Qing Shiyu hesitated for a moment before saying, “I came to the Liu Yue Mountain Range from the capital to train myself, but I was targeted by my enemies and relentlessly pursued. Everyone around me was killed.”

Ye Wushuang laughed and said, “A person from Qingtian City in the Qingyun Empire, coming to the Liu Yue Mountain Range to train? Do you really expect me to believe that?”

At this, Qing Shiyu coughed and then said, “Actually… I’m a disciple of Qingyun Academy, and I came here on a mission from the academy.”

“The mission was supposed to be simple: to investigate a relic in the Liu Yue Mountain Range and confirm its location. We completed the task, but then another group of disciples found out and became interested in the relic. They even used their family’s influence to try to silence us.”

“Why?” Ye Wushuang asked.

“Because the original mission was to verify the location of a relic left by a Yuanfu realm expert. But we discovered that it was actually left by a Tiangang realm powerhouse. So, my friends and I decided to return to the academy immediately to report our findings, considering that as completing the mission.”

Qing Shiyu said indignantly, “But somehow the news leaked. Another group of disciples who were also training in the Liu Yue Mountain Range found out and became interested in the relic left by the Tiangang realm martial artist. They decided to investigate it themselves.”

“But they were worried that if we returned to the academy and informed the elders, it would ruin their plans. So, they decided to kill us!”

Ye Wushuang casually remarked, “You’re all disciples of Qingyun Academy, yet you still resort to killing each other…”

Hearing this, Qing Shiyu looked at Ye Wushuang with a face full of astonishment and disbelief.
