Qin Li, accompanied by several disciples of the Qin family, was hiding in an alleyway, evading pursuit. Upon hearing the roar, he was utterly stunned.
“Ye Wushuang, I’ll curse your ancestors!” Qin Li shouted in anger, his face turning red with rage. At this point, he finally understood the true nature of the situation. Ye Wushuang had deliberately rescued them, intending to use them as a distraction to divert the Tianji Mansion’s attention and fulfill some other hidden agenda.
“Brother Qin Li, what should we do?” one of the disciples asked nervously.
“You ask me, and who do I ask?” Qin Li retorted furiously. “That scoundrel Ye Wushuang, I will never let him go unpunished.”
As Wang Xing’s roar echoed through the air, the sound of breaking through the air came rushing in. One by one, the guards of the Tianji Mansion arrived, their expressions changing dramatically upon seeing Wang Xing, who was limping, covered in blood, and in a state of disarray.
“What happened?” one of the guards asked.
At that moment, a leader at the Yuanfu Realm level stepped forward, his face turning ashen as he looked at Wang Xing.
Wang Xing quickly explained, “Steward Meng Lang, it’s Wang Yunjie… Li Dan captured a princess, and Wang Yunjie, driven by greed, tried to take her for himself. Somehow, the princess managed to kill Wang Yunjie and more than a dozen guards, and she released all the disciples imprisoned on the first floor…”
Upon hearing this, Steward Meng Lang’s expression darkened even further.
“That fool Wang Yunjie… He has ruined Elder Wang Jianmu’s grand plan. He deserves to die a thousand deaths,” Meng Lang cursed.
He immediately issued orders: “Divide into ten teams and search for those family disciples immediately. Not a single one must escape. Anyone who resists will be killed without mercy!”
“Send word to the entrances and exits. No one must be allowed to leave!”
“Yes, sir!”
“Yes, sir!”
The guards hurried off to carry out their orders.
Only then did Meng Lang turn to Wang Xing and ask, “Did the disciples imprisoned on the second floor escape?”
Wang Xing shook his head frantically. “No, no…”
Meng Lang nodded in relief. The second floor was where the Yuanfu Realm disciples were imprisoned. If they had escaped, the situation would have been far more serious. The rooms where the Yuanfu Realm disciples were held were sealed with spiritual arrays, making it difficult for anyone to break free easily.
“Let’s go check,” Meng Lang said, leading two guards into the hall.
Inside the hall, the bodies of the Tianji Mansion’s guards lay scattered on the ground, and the cages that once held the prisoners were now destroyed, with no sign of the imprisoned disciples.
Meng Lang made his way to the second floor. As soon as he reached the staircase, his entire body tensed. A sense of imminent death overwhelmed him. Without hesitation, Meng Lang clutched his hands together and lunged sideways.
On either side of the staircase, Qing Shihua and Qing Shiyu suddenly struck. Meng Lang managed to react and block their attacks, but he staggered backward, nearly losing his footing on the stairs.
“Wang Xing, you…” Meng Lang began, but before he could finish, a sword shadow swept up from below, piercing his back. Even at the third level of the Yuanfu Realm, Meng Lang was unable to react in time.
A sickening thud echoed as the sword pierced through Meng Lang’s spine. Qing Shihua and Qing Shiyu, without a moment’s hesitation, struck again. In the blink of an eye, Meng Lang’s body was riddled with wounds, and he tumbled to the ground.
The two guards who had followed Meng Lang had already been silently eliminated by Ye Wushuang.
Wang Xing, watching Meng Lang’s body roll down the stairs, gasped for breath. Ye Wushuang was truly a madman.
At that moment, Ye Wushuang sheathed his sword and, without another word, moved to the rooms on the second floor, breaking the seals that held the prisoners inside. These rooms held more than a dozen prodigies at the Yuanfu Realm level.
With only Qin Li and the dozens of Ningmai-level disciples, they would struggle to make a significant impact against the Yuanfu-level experts within the underground palace. But with the addition of these dozen Yuanfu-level prodigies, the situation changed dramatically.
After breaking the seals, Ye Wushuang stood at the door and said, “Whether you run or not is up to you.”
With that, Ye Wushuang, along with Qing Shihua, Qing Shiyu, and Wang Xing, hurried away.
Before long, the door to one of the rooms opened, and a young man stepped out. More people emerged from the rooms, until more than a dozen prodigies at the initial Yuanfu Realm level stood together, looking at each other.
A young man in black spoke up, “Let’s recover some of our strength first. If we scatter and run, we’ll surely die. It’s best to stick together and try to break through.”
“Agreed,” the others nodded.
“Good plan,” they concurred.
At that moment, the young man in black looked outside the pavilion at the chaotic scene, clenching his fists tightly.
“Ye Wushuang… What on earth is this guy trying to do?”
They had heard Wang Xing’s roar from within their rooms. Ye Wushuang had rescued them to divert the attention of the Tianji Mansion’s warriors. But even so, they could not afford to be concerned with Ye Wushuang’s ulterior motives. Their priority was to escape.
On the other side, Qing Shiyu smiled and said, “Ye Wushuang, your strategy of releasing the wolves to lure the tigers is truly brilliant.”
By freeing the captured disciples of the various great families, they created chaos within the underground palace, allowing the four of them to take advantage of the confusion and enter the Heaven-Numbered Secret Palace.
This method was indeed effective!
Ye Wushuang, however, said again, “But I think this alone is still not enough.”
