It was not until the moment when the esteemed Red Serpent led Ye Wushuang away that Li Changqing finally snapped out of his daze. He turned sharply towards Qing Chengtian, Xiao Yuan, and Wang Xueqi, and demanded in a stern voice, “What exactly is the relationship between Ye Wushuang and the Red Serpent?”

The three of them were still reeling from the shocking scene that had just unfolded. The Red Serpent, without uttering a single word, had effortlessly slaughtered the elders and mentors of the Chu and Qin clans. Even Elders Chao Ping and Wan Tianglong, along with more than a dozen others, had met their end. It was as if the Red Serpent had killed them with a mere flick of his wrist, so effortlessly and casually.

What was going on? They were just as bewildered as everyone else. Xiao Yuan, dazed and bewildered, stammered, “We… we don’t know either. In the past month, we haven’t seen Ye Wushuang and the Red Serpent interact at all…”

Tang Chuyi immediately interjected, “There’s no point in questioning them. We need to hurry back and discuss this with the other vice-presidents and the president himself…”

“Let’s go,” Li Changqing urged, pulling Tang Chuyi away. “You three, come with us,” Tang Chuyi added.

Ye Wushuang had instructed them to take care of these three young ones. If anything were to happen to them, and they perished in the trial grounds, the Red Serpent would surely hold them accountable. It would be too unjust to suffer such a fate!

As for the corpses of Chu Hongtian, Chu Gaoxuan, and the others on the ground, no one cared to spare them a glance.

On the other side, Red Abyss led Ye Wushuang at an astonishing speed, swiftly crossing the mountainous region and returning to a secluded valley within the Blue Cloud Academy. This valley was vast, yet with the descent of Red Abyss, it seemed to shrink in comparison.

Deep within the valley, in a pit, another eight-winged Red Refining Serpent lay. Its eight wings appeared dim and lifeless, and its scales had taken on a dull reddish hue. Red Abyss let out a few joyful cries. The other eight-winged Red Refining Serpent in the pit raised its head, its eyes dark as it looked at Red Abyss. A thought was conveyed.

“Is he the young man that Red Sky spoke of?” A gentle voice echoed in Ye Wushuang’s mind. Red Abyss also conveyed a message: “It is Lord Ye who has returned. Lord Ye has merged with my beast-taming talisman.”

At that moment, the massive form of Red Orchid in the pit had tears glistening in its eyes. Ye Wushuang descended and approached Red Orchid. Standing before the towering figure of Red Orchid, which was hundreds of feet tall, Ye Wushuang felt incredibly small and insignificant.

“It is I, and I have returned,” Ye Wushuang said with a smile. “Five hundred years ago, I had to leave. I was reborn and became the Ye Wushuang you see today.”

Red Orchid’s eyes, as large as water jars, looked at Ye Wushuang, and tears finally streamed down. “Lord Ye…”

“Mm-hmm,” Ye Wushuang nodded, gradually moving closer to Red Orchid and gently placing his hand on the scales of its massive body. “Who has hurt you?”

Red Orchid exhaled before conveying its thoughts: “Back then, when Lord Ye was gone, the Ye Clan was betrayed. Red Abyss and I went to support them, but we encountered several powerful beings at the level of the Myriad Laws. I was severely injured and nearly died. It was Cloud Star Sword who saved me.”

“Later, as the Ye Clan faced annihilation, Red Abyss and I were unable to take human form and could do nothing but survive here in the Blue Cloud Academy.”

“I had thought that my injuries would gradually heal over time, but unexpectedly, they have worsened over the centuries,” Red Orchid continued in a bitter tone. “Over the years, it was only thanks to the medicinal herbs and pills that Cloud Star Sword brought me that I managed to stay alive.”

“But in recent years, I felt that I could no longer hold on. So, I gave birth to Red Sky, hoping that it could keep Red Abyss company and prevent him from being lonely in the future…”

As Red Orchid spoke, Red Abyss fluttered its wings and moved closer to its mother, nuzzling her affectionately while tears streamed down its face. Ye Wushuang stood by, watching the family of three, feeling a deep sorrow welling up inside.

Five hundred years had passed, and everything had changed. Since leaving the Flowing Moon City, all the old acquaintances Ye Wushuang had encountered were in dire situations.

Ye Wushuang then said, “Let me take a look and see what’s going on.”

With that, he approached Red Orchid and began a careful examination, occasionally drawing his long sword to make incisions and extracting some blood and flesh. After a full incense stick’s worth of time, Ye Wushuang, now covered in dirt and grime, descended and looked at the pieces of flesh and scales he had removed. His expression was grim.
