Without a moment’s hesitation, Ye Wushuang strode directly into the valley.
As soon as she took a step into the valley, she could feel the air tinged with a faint, burning heat. The valley was flanked by towering cliffs, spanning a hundred zhang in width. However, looking ahead, the grass was charred and black, and the depth of the valley seemed to stretch endlessly into the distance.
Ahead, Chu Haoyu, Qin Cangsheng, and Liu Zhiyuan had already led their respective groups of dozens of people into the valley. There was no sound of combat, suggesting that the situation was not yet perilous.
After advancing several hundred zhang, they encountered several forked paths. Ye Wushuang chose the path to the left without hesitation and continued to delve deeper.
At this point, the charred grass seemed less prevalent. Along the way, she saw scattered remnants of stone, wooden planks, and fragments of tables and chairs strewn across the ground. Gradually, as she moved forward, the landscape of the valley walls began to change. No longer were they bare stone surfaces; instead, they had been chiseled open, revealing rows of stone pillars within.
With her inner spiritual energy condensed, Ye Wushuang proceeded cautiously toward the ancient ruins carved into the mountainside.
Before her eyes lay a scene of utter chaos.
As she ventured deeper into the mountain, she arrived at a stone door. One of the doors was shattered, while the other hung ajar. Upon entering, Ye Wushuang’s eyebrows arched in surprise.
Beyond the stone door lay a vast hall, connected to various locations, its expanse impressive. In one corner of the hall, the walls were inscribed with numerous lines of text, but they were merely verses and odes, not any sort of spiritual incantations or techniques.
After a thorough inspection of the hall, Ye Wushuang found nothing of interest and continued to explore other areas.
After a half-day of wandering, she gradually realized that this place seemed to have already been thoroughly searched. Everything was in disarray. For instance, rooms, bookshelves, and beds were all in a state of chaos.
After some time, Ye Wushuang followed the winding corridors and eventually arrived in front of a more spacious hall. Before she could enter, the sound of a fierce struggle reached her ears.
Inside the vast hall, she saw Qin Cangsheng and Chu Haoyu leading their respective groups, locked in a tense battle. At the far end of the hall, she noticed a large iron cage, over a zhang in height, emitting faint electrical patterns.
Inside the cage, a pitiful-looking spiritual beast was huddled in the corner, watching the two groups fight.
When Ye Wushuang’s gaze fell upon the beast, her eyes brightened slightly.
The creature appeared to be over a meter long, with a serpentine body, but its head was adorned with two horns, resembling burning stones, flickering with a faint firelight. Its body was covered in a layer of faint scales, and it had a pair of wings on its back.
“Eight-Winged Red Smelting Dragon!”
Ye Wushuang chuckled.
The Eight-Winged Red Smelting Dragon was a true fifth-tier spiritual beast. At its peak, an Eight-Winged Red Smelting Dragon would have eight wings, not just two like this young one. A fully-grown Eight-Winged Red Smelting Dragon was on par with a peerless warrior of the Ten Thousand Methods realm.
However, this young one, with only two wings, was clearly at the level of a first-tier spiritual beast and was trapped in this cage.
Combining what she had seen on her journey here, Ye Wushuang realized that the destruction of this hidden treasure trove must have been caused by this little creature.
Now, seeing Qin Cangsheng and Chu Haoyu fighting, it was evident that the cause of their conflict was this young Eight-Winged Red Smelting Dragon.
After all, this was a fifth-tier spiritual beast in its infancy, and it was currently trapped. If someone could capture and raise it, it would one day become a being beyond the Tian Gang realm. Who wouldn’t be tempted?
Yet, seeing the pitiful look on the little creature’s face, Ye Wushuang smiled and had a few guesses in her mind.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Ye Wushuang entered the hall and approached the iron cage, looking at the young creature.
“Are you scared?” Ye Wushuang asked gently with a smile.
